The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported itself inside Millenium Stadium this week to see if the men in red can manage a Slam. There's also TVs showing the other 6N matches, the U20s and Womens' matches, Super XV, the "Classic" match and LV= Cup action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Mervyn Davies and Jock Hobbs above the bar!

If that's it then its horrible.
I thought it was.much tamer with an unfortunate injury creating a bit of a media frenzy. However i am not a NFL fan so only was half following.

Stag, might make more sense if you read the article. Spent a fair bit of time researching that one! Seeing as we were talking about NFL, another one: www.sportpulse.net/content/will-peyton-manning-lead-broncos-back-promised-land-3117

Thanks Munsty, have done a fair few for them now. Writing a bit for V2 and other sites as well so it's all good.
I haven't been on here for a while but I'm guessing our consensus on Kidney is, get him out, hire SH coaches and everything will be alright? If we got a decent backs coach I would give him until the 6N. There were some positives this year. Also Sexton must improve.

Thomond - I've read that article of yous before (think you posted it a couple of days ago?) tis a v good one
cream crackered does not even come close to how I'm feeling. Got wine at the ready as well, forgot how stressed I get at the end of the financial year. My brain feels fried.
Hughie - amen to that, can't wait for the weekend.
Happy that I get to see the Scarlets play again, doubt there'll be many of the Welsh internationals playing though

Morning/evening all.
The London Zoo job sounds great dreamer. Best of luck with all of your applications.
Had to go to the Victoria Barracks (a stone's throw from the SFS/SCG in Paddington) yesterday - they're doing some upgrade works. The large parade ground is where the Waratahs sometimes train... it has a football field marked over half of it, posts and all. They're such a pampered lot...
After last week's narrow loss I asked the Major: "Where the f are they...why aren't they here in the drizzle doing some hard yards?"
He smiled at me and said - well, they're probably indoors across the road... too wet for them! bunch of softies!
Even though the Sharks haven't won here since 2000, I'm finding it hard to back my own team but I know if I do tip the Sharks; then the Tahs will come out firing and probably win well.
Good form from Bismark du Plessis on the Rugby Show last night - lovely fella. Very well disciplined, educated and well spoken. Still, I hope the Sharks get "towelled up" as they say.

Great video, Thomond - to be fair, he's getting keich all protection, I'd be going ballistic at my defensive line if I was himThomond wrote:Paying a fella 10 grand to knock another player out of the game? You don't see a problem with that? Seriously? The Saints defence have injured a lot of guys and have ended at least one QBs career.
The Saints were known for their late and illegal hits from the year they won the Super Bowl. If they are fair hits grand. But if you look at the NFC Championship game, you will see a lot of late, low and illegal hits. Look at this vid, largely late and just cheap shots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPZCVCZNc50

I remember watching the game ASBO (the first one I watched actually) I remember thinking, your man Favre should get rid of the ball quicker or he is going to get killed. Sure he is older than Gibbo like.

I follow the 5th worst team in America, even the Bears beat them FFS. They're talking about Tebow on Irish Radio now. The guy is absolutely useless but he gets so much attention. It's fecking ridiculous!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Evening.
The Pats are my NFL team, with a big shout for the 'skins. I used to love watching the highlights show on Channel 4 back in the 80s. Watched most of the Superbowls live back then until Sky got hold of it
And Sean Payton has been banned for a year by the NFL.
In other news I was very pleased with the contribution of the Ealing guys in England Counties' win against the Irish Clubs team at the weekend (at Preston Grasshoppers). The Irish Clubs' pack made life hard for England and contested the breakdown ferociously by all accounts.
But two tries for Phil Chesters, and one for Owen Bruynseels (the Ealing wingers), and and a superb game from Pete Hodgkinson* at full back saw an England win.
Ireland duffed us last year, and it's two all in the series. This fixture is for players at tier 3 (or below) in their respective countries.
* How 'Hodg' has not been snapped up by a Premiership team is unbelievable. He is a real talent.

Munsty, I don't think I have ever heard anyone who knows their onions about American Football call Tebow, good. "GOD" on the other hand is a different issue.
Hound, Super Bowls are Free to Air on BBC. It's one of those guaranteed events. They have a very good analyst named Carlson who does the Sunday Night Games on Channel 4.
Quick question, how important is a top quality rugby game on the Xbox/Playstation? Seeing as I first became interested in NFL (It is about 5th on my list of sports but still) playing the games, I think it is something incredibly important to the growth of rugby.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Willy, my thoughts on Manning are here: http://www.sportpulse.net/node/3117 and if that doesn't work http://secondcityfanatics.wordpress.com/2012/03/22/will-peyton-manning-lead-broncos-back-to-the-promised-land/
It's a brief look at Peyton's career and my thoughts on what the move could lead to. About Timmy, it will be distracting for curent Jets QB Mark Sanchez who can't cope with a lot of pressure as it is. The players don't seem to want it (some discontent on their Twitter accounts apparently) and you are paying a fair amount for a guy who will be a back up. He will be good in certain packages but the Jets defence isn't good enough for him to be a starter and his throwing isn't good enough for him to start and win for the Jets. He will be mainly used in Wildcat and running packages with the occasional throw. This is the Wildcat by the way, it's mainly used with a running back under centre but Tebow should (probably isn't) be a better passer than most RBs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYEmxO1xzF0

Thom, I never bothered looking to see if the BBC had Superbowl live. I was of the opinion that they could just about afford live coverage of the 6N.

Nah, just some woman stuff, I did the honourable thing and got her tubes tied.
No, just teasing, they did tie her tubes but there was a little plumbing necessary, tighten a few pipes and screws.

A really interesting article about the amount of travel Super Rugby players go through in a season, especially the isolated ones like the Western Force.
