Perera a strange omission thought he was nailed on. 3 good tight heads in that squad.

Guildford still being punished for his antics maybe. Gear bewildering omission. Cane and tamati Ellison in great form

I'm not massivley surprised with Gear omission Matt, don't think he's a Hansen player. Guildford is though but as you say he needs to clean up and probably still in bad books.

That's not the squad to face Ireland, it's just a training squad. Kerr-Barlow on my shopping list, was hoping to sneak him in under the radar.

Tj Perera looks mustard at 9 and was named in every nz papers predicted squad

Barrett looks a great option at 10 just needs a little work on his defence but a great bench option as he can play 15 really well also

Ken Barlow looks tidy. Better than Ellis. Cowan never going to be picked as he is 2nd choice at highlanders and his nz contract was not extended

And he's going to Gloucester.......

Probably the same reason Kaino isn't there

They will add a wing with kahui out you would think.

Cowan is off to Gloucester because his nz contract was not going to be extended. I am not convinced he will be good for Gloucester. Think he is just coming to boost his pension. Can't see how it can motivate him. Evans was young when he came over. I always question signing foreign players over 30

Pleased that Cane and Savea are in the provisional squad - was going to release Savea at the start of the season for £0.5m!

All Blacks have such an amazing production line its untrue - hopefully the AP clubs will continue to play youngsters, seem to have had a lot more of them getting first team rugby this year!

Wonder when Carter will start kicking....was reading AB's looking to play him 12 as he can't kick fully and they still want him involved.

playing him at 12 is crazy for me when there is 2 better options in nonu and sbw. carter not as effective at 12 as they are. on form SBW deserves the shirt.

If he can't kick though what are the options?

Form backline would be:

9. Smith
10. Cruden
12. SBW
13. Smith

Carter should not be 12 for ab's . Agree sbw in great form.

Expect to see carter @ 10. Apparently started kicking again.
Saw that article on planet rugby about him staying 12 but nz herald etc all say he will Be back at 10

No idea assume at end of season. I have quite a lot to spend it. Etzbeth, Denton and a few of the kiwi tight heads interest me.

Of the younger players I like savea's younger brother. He is in their 7s team and was best u18 player in nz so worth a punt

I wouldn't put it past Hansen to have him in the training squad just for his experience and to keep him up to scratch with what he's trying to do as he's going to be the man pulling the strings. I'd rest Carter and let him have a full pre-season to shake any knocks off and make sure he's ready to go next time round.

Think we could see a backline of

9.Smith
10.Cruden
11.Ben Smith
12.Williams
13.Conrad
14.Jane
15.Dagg

It was a strange weekend in the S15.

Read has possibly been the form 8 in world rugby, came on in 2nd half, fluffed a lineout take and made no impact.

Guildford, one of the hardest working wings about looked like he couldn't be bothered.

Guess even Crusaders can have off day

I think you'v got a problem Chris , there's clinics for people obsessed with signing backs. Bryan Redpath went there , it's called Gloucester RFC

Shane Monahan is a pretty decent player. He was part of a good Roth side this year.

Copeland gone to Cardiff, Dougall to Munster, Dickenson to Saints (He was at Chester on Sat, he doesn't look a prem player. Big but naturally big rather than Gym strength) and Taulava has gone to Worcester.

Gloucester have signed 36 and Ben Morgan. I wouldn't mind those at Sale

Thing with Saints is that they have a habit of turning players with potential into extremely good players - best example is Wood, went from a good player to a very good one when he trained at Saints - Calum Clark (apart from his temper!) and James Craig both good examples too.

I do have a problem with backs - just can't be bothered with forwards, so boring unless they tackle like Lawes and Manoa.

yeah punching is good for a forward - the more that get sent off the less they can ruin the game by dropping the ball in open play or getting in the way of a backs move!

am amazed by some of the breakdown work of some props nowadays though - Dan Cole is just incredible there, he gets so many turnovers in a game.

Gloucester obviously did something though.

League should be good next year. No interest in London Welsh coming up, just not a viable option for me. Rather the new Newcastle stay up.

Gonna be very competitve next year. Have to say I fear for Irish unless they get in a few forwards. Not in terms of relegation but general competitiveness.

Fancy Worcester for the drop next season.

Worcester definitely favourites for the drop - losing Garvey&Benjamin isn't good for them, but do really like their no8 Ben Cowan.

Wasps need another prop - like the Welsh hooker we've signed but (and I never thought I would say this) we are going to miss Broster! Signing Palmer and Haskell is going to make us stronger.

Wonder if they will put a stop to promotion from the championship - sounds like the clubs in that league are pushing for an affiliation with the people who run the AP as opposed to the RFU, mainly on the basis that the RFU failed to get them a sponsor!
