The Dew Drop Inn ERC 2012 Commemorative Pub, Dublin
First topic message reminder :
Sláinte and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The Pub has followed the victorious Leinster team home after last week's Heineken Cup final for a liver-busting celebration.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the picture of the late Simon "Human Windmill" Pitney or those of all the HEC and Amlin Cup finalists.

This should let folk have a gander at the possibilities: Heino draw - you need to be a little patient while it loads initially, then click draw over&over to see all the possibilities

Well done!
Are you happy where you are or will you still be wanting a change?
I'm really enjoying the work I'm doing at the moment. The interview I was going to tonight has been postponed to tomorrow now, but the commute would be horrendous (it's only 20 mins walk from my current job, but in the wrong direction). So call it a "practice" one.
The interview Thursday morning is a possibility though.

Ah but you have pictures of Ryan on your bedroom wall so there would be a bit of bias there ..
tis true, tis true (the bias bit, not the pictures!)
He is actually the only player I've shouted out as being a sexy man when watching them play rugby. Twas in the Grandslam decider against France after he did this amazing turnover. Straight through the middle of the ruck using his boot. Beautiful.

Thanks for this Asbo, even though there are some pretty frightening group possibilities for Ulster. Like everyone we will be hoping to draw Cardiff as the first seed. More likely to be Biarritz or Toulouse though. Some very tough third seeded teams - Ospreys, Scarlets and Saracens.

Monday done.
Evening pub.
I had an optician appointment earlier and found out I need a cataract op. The sight in the right eye has degenerated quite rapidly over the last year.
Better news is my manager has back my application for two weeks unpaid leave so I can do the Lions tour next year.
Now I just need the numpty she reports to, to approve it. His default setting is akin to Ian Paisley.
A resounding NO normally
38+ years of service should mean that HR recommend my request.

Nice work on the job Kiwi
That HC draw gave me Saracens and Castres as third and fourth seeds the first two times in a row. That would be a toughie. But the third time it gave Ulster Biarritz, Sale and Treviso- yes please!
My favourite group it's given me so far is Toulouse, Ulster, Glasgow and Exeter. That would be some craic. I hope that happens.

Sorry to hear about your op Harrow. I hope that just means that although things will be bad in the short term, it's better in the long run And maybe you'll get to wear an eye patch like a pirate ooooh arrrrrgh!
I just scared the bejeebus out of myself. Went to plug something into a socket and it went BANG! there was a flash and smell of burning, but the surge protection light is still on the socket though.
I hope the O's get Leinster in their HC pool...

Really hope you get the approval from higher on up for the Lions tour Hound! That should be an amazing two weeks.
And sorry to hear that about your eye they given you any dates of when they think they can do the op?
For me my yearly addiction to Springwatch is not far off starting, they've already got loads of the live animal webcams up, the swans and cygnets are just

- is it because you'd need about 3 weeks off for the Lions that you might not get it? Surely they could make allowances? It's not like you've given them short notice! Good luck anyway. Hope you make it.
Tommy posted a pic of himself with the P12 trophy on his FB page and someone called him "John Terry!" I must admit, I did chuckle...
Dreamer - ever thought of doing that live? You'll be able to in West Wales.

Fixed that Cari.
And cheers (+ dreamer)
I'm not fussed about the op - not a squeamish type.
Roll on the 'Diff in a couple of Fridays.
Although my plan to watch most of Wales v Aus is feiced. It's an 11am ko and not 10am. Train back is at 11:25.
Still, can't have it all.

Are you booked onto that particular train then? Shame, cause there's later trains. There's always the repeats online anyway

Yeah, booked on that train Cari.
I've said I might want five weeks off for the Lions; two unpaid. Will be happy if they agree to four weeks total though.

Hi All
Hope all well with everyone.
Hound,
re your eye op, assuming you intend to have it done on the NHS, check out your situation locally. Because of cuts, lots of PCTs ( the people who have the money and pay for your op) are cutting back on non-urgent surgery. Cataracts counts as "non-urgent" in some places. No idea how you get around this unless you claim to be more "blind" than you actually are.

The Ospreys have provided the backbone for three Grand Slam winning sides, have won their domestic league a record four times and their second team has beaten Australia. Are they going to Flip up in Europe again next season?

Morning Billy, large please.
I see Tuilagi has been cited for a tip tackle in the AP final - I wonder how they'll handle that with an important summer tour coming up? Super short ban perhaps, or "no case to answer"?

Good morning all you rugby loving people, soon I will be off to write another exam dreamt up by a bunch of plonkers about laws that make little or no sense.
Man, am I looking forward to spend my day behind an examination desk.

I'm glad the goverment is getting rid of this pasty tax because it's just bang out of order. The pasty struggle enough at this time of year as it is, trying to keep out of the sun.

Well done to the ospreys fans, it was a great game for the neutral. Would really love to get them in the HC next year, officially annoyed by them now. we’ve only lost to two teams all year and we lost to them 3 times. That’s a bête noir right there.

Right, having pressed 'Draw' until my fingers bled, I think I've worked out all the possibilities for Exe - 24 options altogether, 5/24 we get Leinster, Munster, Toulouse, Biarritz, and 4/24 we get Cardiff from tier 1; 7/24 we get Clermont or Toulon, 5/24 Ulster or Edinburgh from Tier 2; 7/24 we get Glasgow or Ospreys, 6/24 Scarlets, 4/24 Connacht from Tier 3.Rava wrote:AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:This should let folk have a gander at the possibilities: Heino draw - you need to be a little patient while it loads initially, then click draw over&over to see all the possibilities

Wise words from Rowan Williams here:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18237812
'Another lesson we could learn from Dickens was that the education system should teach people to use their imagination and emotions, rather than turning education into a "sausage machine" or "letting the box-ticking mentality take over."
"Without imagination you won't get people to understand that they're part of something bigger than themselves.
"The more you go down a narrowly utilitarian model of education, where you're just thinking about outcomes and ultimate profits and educating people for skills in the economy, the more you think like that, the less you actually equip people to belong, to work together, to have solidarity and vision for themselves as a group."'
