First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The Pub has made its way to the Moon, in honour of the late Neil Armstrong. One small step for man ...

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Lance Armstrong in yellow, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin moonwalking, or the shot of Joe Ansbro breaking the line.

I did - great first half, considering Zebre had most of the ball, then a bit of a crap second half when we should have really put them away. But I'm relieved more than anything, I didn't know what to expect from Zebre and after the way we ended last season, I was worried we might come unstuck.

There were loads of gnats there last night. I thought I'd share that with you.

I may not have mentioned it in here, but I also felt Knoyle was one to watch a couple of years back. Terrific scrum half. Rhys Webb at the Os too.

He really reminded me how good a player he is tonight. He's been out for so long that, in my head, he was just Mike Phillips Mark II; but he's much sharper than Mike Phillips is.

Quite an enjoyable first half of rugby there.

This 5 second rule could just be the making of Munster. I am also liking this Downey and Laulala centre partnership.

Evening pub. guinness cider Ale

My eyes have been offended today, £26 and the best thing about the game was a feckin punch-up.

About the only positive was that Bath would've lost that game last season.

Ooooon the other hand, WTF happened at Twickenham? I was checking in via the phone and Quins were getting pumped - I stopped looking at about 30-odd to 13 and Quins nick it by 2 points!!

Oh, and well played Scarlets clap Unlucky there Gibmeister, Leinster lose AND you've got to go to work on Monday Very Happy Bad times. Hug

Back from Lansdowne for half time, nice try and good scoreline as we seemed to have been under the cosh. Pathetic defending for Visser's second try to be honest. Took it well but one turnover shouldn't have happened and two the tackling was diabolical.

Also what the feic happened to Leinster? It was a decent side with pretty decent experience out there I thought?

Downey was excellent in the build up to the try. It was his line bust and off load to Howlett which set up the momentum. He's also offering us that solid truck it up option we've been lacking.

Early penalty puts Munster up 13-10.

Downey showed he can be more than a bosh merchant for that try sensational hands. Laulala is talented no doubt, he is the victim of Conrad Smith being simply a God for the Kiwis.

Also got a text off someone while at the game. Apparently hurling was described by the Americans as "A cross between lacrosse and second degree manslaughter". A bit patronising but hilarious Laugh

+1

Ditto Laulala. Another player I like to watch. Equally adept at beating players on the inside and outside. He seems to be able to watch which side the defender plants his foot (while shaping a pass) and then goes for the weaker side defensively. Great spatial awareness.

They don't know which way he's going to go, do they? He sort of half-pauses and the defenders freeze, stand off him.

Oh yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lovely score, Downey again at the heart of it, was a simple score but effective. O'Dea has a great knack for getting to the line. Great pace and good feet/, ran a superb line there. Munster looking decent at the moment, good few mistakes but for a first game of the year after a terrible pre-season it's a solid start. 20 left so not all said and done.

Excited by this new centre partnership I've got to say.

I'm delighted O'Dea is doing so well. He was on my brother's team all the way through the age groups from when he moved over to Ireland. His try scoring record is really quite impressive.

5 tries for Munster in around 10 games I think for O'Dea. That is groin-grabbingly good. More rounded than Zebo and don't be surprised if he could get in ahead of him. Zebo may provide more in some areas but O'Dea provides solid play in all areas. I think he could nab the full back spot too, if they decide to play him there.

Yeah, I'd agree. I think he still needs more game time before he goes to full back. Developing well on the wing. It depends a lot on how things go with Felix Jones.

I am hoping that Penney can get the best out of Zebo. Use some more of his wider range of skills which were limited by the last coaching staff somewhat.
