The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Liverpool in honour of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster, who may finally receive justice.
We are also mourning the sudden loss of Nevin Spence, his father Noel and brother Graeme, who died tragically at their farm in Hillsborough, Co. Down yesterday.
We offer our thoughts and deepest sympathies to his sisters Emma (who remains in a stable condition in hospital), Laura, their mother Essie, family and all friends and fans of the Ulster Rugby community.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Andy Murray, Craig Newby and Delme Thomas.

Re: The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
cheers Hound, Llanelli going really well at the moment, we're 26-6 up away against Aberavon, and Carmarthen Quins were winning away to Neath the last score update I saw. Think there's about 15 mins to go.
Scarlet u16s lost to the Blues u16's 8-10 though
Nick Clegg has a very punchable voice (I meant to type that). Listening to the footy on the radio and they just had a clip of him on the news roundup, and just the sound of him makes me want to punch him/something.

I've never heard of it Rava - it any good?
Hound FT scores are:
Neath 15 - 12 Carmarthen Quins
Aberavon 6 - 26 Llanelli
Newport 25 - 26 Bedwas (Newport led for most of it despite being down to 14 for a lot of it)
Bridgend 11 - 38 Cardiff.
Swansea 14 - 25 Cross Keys

Ha, yes, but when you factor in televised sport this summer I did watch rather a lot. Non sport coverage though....
da di da da da di da......da di da da da.
<glitterball>
You are right, I will start again in October.
Hound - dim probs. There's a humdinger of a match still to go but I think it's to be played on Saturday for this round of the Welsh Prem.
Llandovery (top on 15 points) v Pontypridd (3rd on 13 points)
Winner stays/goes top. (although actually I don't know which side is home or away)
should be a good one, but Ponty will probably stick all their best forwards out and bully their way to a win. Really hope Drovers put in a good showing though, they had a v close match pre-season.

Do you go to any Prem games out west? Sounds like a good 'social' scene.

Re: The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
Sadly not Hound
Until I get the means to transport myself around I'm stuck to following twitter feeds and book of face updates (or on the v rare occasions it's on the radio or tv). Managed a couple of Llanelli games in the last couple of seasons but that's it. Bet it would be ace travelling round the older club grounds.
Wouldn't mind trying to get to watch Llandeilo some day soon too, haven't watched them for absolute years, not since my brother used to play for them (so we're talking about 12 years ago now).

It's weird going to a club game again after spending so many games watching a Region. I used to love watching the Keys. Was funny watching my mates back then especially if a scrap broke out (Keys derby days were great for that). When I went there last year it felt weird not singing Dragons stuff.
I do have a lot of time for club rugby though, but obviously I'll always watch Risca first if I'm not playing.

Just finished the podcast. Listened to Emma Spences eulogy just before we did the Nevin Spence tribute. Found it v.emotional to be honest.
Re: The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
I think for me Rev, I'm getting much more of an interest in the club game again because I can see exactly how the Scarlets academy lads are doing at Drovers, Quins and Llanelli. It's great keeping tabs on them to see who are going to be up and coming players etc.
I also still remember what it's like going to Llanelli v Swansea games (blydi loved those ones) and I really enjoyed going to watch Ponty v Llanelli in the cup final season before last with Penfro. The rivalries are still there, tis still fun and deffo still worth following
Think it's great when you come back home Rev you go watch/play for Risca if you can
Anybeans I'm off to do some reading and get away from my blydi laptop. Been trying to do some writing all evening and it's not gone well. Managed about 1,000 words but reckon I'm going to delete most of it when I re-read it tomorrow
nos da pawb.
Stag - understandable.

Bedwas were pretty fortunate says the Argus writer, but Jack Dixon was quality for them. Good to know. Weird seeing Liam Davies' name in their ranks (he'll bench for the Dragons on Sat again too). Before I saw him against Zebre, I hadn't seen him play since he ripped into Munster for Ospreys (when Munsty, Penfro and I went down). So it's nice to have things like that to remind you of things.

Again sympathy for Stag and the rest of the guys with the podcast. Still thinking of Willser and the rest of the Ulster regs too. SUFTUM.
Probably won't pop in now, as charging my phone will be a bit tricky whilst camping, so I'll wish you all the best and catch you on Sun/Mon.

Thoughts with WillyGilly, hope you're ok bud, and also Rava if you're in, hope yer wee girlies school thing went well today.
I hope we did well for the Spences on the podcast, as Stag has said it was emotional. I had done the same as him and listened to Emma's words beforehand.

Have a good one Rev.
I'm off to Ealing on Sat. and I love that level of rugby. Going to grounds like Richmond and The Rock (Rosslyn Park) with proper clubhouses is the bedrock of the game.

Morning peeps
Day off today, and as per the law of the sod, it's grey, wet and miserable out. Still, it is nearly the weekend, where for 80 minutes on Saturday PJ will become my mortal enemy!!!
To be fair, despite not being religious I have prayed to God, Allah, Buddha, Haile Selassie and Shaun Edwards that we are better defensively this week!!!
Hope everyone is well anyway.

School run, drop the wife to work, then it's home with the youngest for some quality play time, which knowing her will initially consist of playing with her dollys, followed by lunch which will give her an energy burst and mean the afternoon is spent running around like a lunatic, most likely with a ball of some variety!

I have to go to Ravenhill this morning and will be signing the Book of Condolence for Nevin Spence.
Just thought I would add a wee comment on behalf of the Regs if you all think that's appropriate.

Truly amazing. This weekend against Dragons is the first time in one and half years that Stringer and O'Gara have started together for Munster.
Re: The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
I am so confused.
The only two teams in the Welsh Prem to not have played 4 games are Llandovery and Ponty. Logically I assumed they would play each other this weekend to bring them both up to four. NOT SO.
It's Llandovery v Swansea.
I do not get how these blydi fixtures work.

Maybe O'Gara deserves a chance to state his case before the start of the Heineken Cup, but Ian Keatley has done little wrong to be ousted. At the very least they should rotate the two players like Sexton and O'Gara have done for Ireland.
I've seen a lot of ardent defenders for ROG out there; think some Munster fans views are clouded by sentiment. It's not that I think ROG is a terrible player now, it's that Keatley is doing well and deserves a run in the team. A lot of people don't seem to have noticed his form even amongst Munster fans.

In all seriousness, Munster need to get over those two guys and look to the future. Both are on the downward slope, and they would be better served giving game time to any of the youngsters they have who are coming through.

Notch - Ian Keatley is also playing.
Ozzy - Stringer is out 3rd choice scrumhalf behind Conor Murray and Duncan Williams.

Don't think so. Duncan Williams has played about 6 matches in a row though. Murray is on the bench.
Personally I think we are doing well developing scrumhalves. The captain of the Munster A team is a young scrumhalf who looks set to replace Stringer shortly.
Re: The Hillsborough Memorial Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Liverpool
I'd have thought you'd start either Murray or Williams and have Stringer on the bench as cover.

Williams, JJ.....
I am starting to sense some sort of trend appearing in the new up and coming Munster players, but what could it be
Love love love the Scarlets side announced. Only slight weakness is the front row.

Really?
I'm not sure any of them are wonderful 9s but Murray looks the strongest all-rounder.
