The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Oxford and the only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Seve Ballesteros, Andy Fenby, Nick Williams,Tim Visser, Adam Ashley Cooper and Paul Lawrie up on the wall.

I don't believe it for one second of course.
We've gone without Robling again (not even in extended squad). Got to wonder what he's done wrong.

You sure he is fit Rev. Do you think that we can build on our good win over Edinburgh and take advantage of Scarlets dip in form.

Rev, we dont need to talk about it if it bothers you. Just saying that we are a different animal in Rodney Parade.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
That is a bit odd Rev, he's a v good player.
Both backline's should look v good, forwards will be trickier although I think we should have the edge. If Rhys can kick and play like he did last weekend we should be just about okay for a narrow win I think. Really don't want to imagine us making the same stupid mistakes as last time we played (2 chargedowns ffs, 2!!!)
With regards to the return fixture, purely from a fans perspective, I would much prefer it to be at Dave Parade. Atmosphere is always bouncing when Scarlets go play there.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
Dreamer, which players were responsible for the charge down tries.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
Gareth Davies and Jordan Williams.
Gar's was when he was doing a box kick from a lineout 5m outside our tryline. We fluffed the lineout a bit, so he needed to get it away sharpish but he just took it lazily (imo). He should have kicked it quick or passed it out for someone else to clear.
Jordan's was when we had an overlap, but the passing wasn't quite spot on, so he was going to kick over the rushing Treviso defence, just didn't get the execution right. Big lesson learnt for the young guy.

"We" are still not good enough on the road yet, but I wouldn't mind "us" pushing for an LBP Red_Drag.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
Rev - you make me sound like a drag queen "Red_Drag". People will think im a ladyboy Leinster fan instead of a rabid Munster fan with a closet affection for the rugby of Monmouthshire.

yeah but he could have called you Drag_Stag which would have been far worse, no?

At least they would know I was a Munster fan. . . . . .or else a soon to be groom with some last minute issues yet to be resolved

For Rev:
Players not selected through injury: ..........Lewis Robling (Cut Knee).
Got that from the Dragons squad they released.

has Hywel Stoddart played much for you guys? been interested to see how he goes.
Rumours are that Morgan might be fit for selection for this week, although I honestly think he needs some RFC game time first after being out for 15 months.

Well done dreamer (and I heard about that young girl on the radio this morning).
Afternoon pubbers. This may be of interest to those of you whose teams are in Clermont’s HC Pool. Taken from Planet Rugby.
“Top 14 leaders and Heineken Cup title contenders Clermont will head to Castres on Friday without a handful of injured internationals. Les Jaunards, who open their European campaign against Treviso next week (eh??), have been hit by a string of injuries with centre Aurelien Rougerie and wing Napolioni Nalaga both sidelined for this weekend, the club confirmed.
Captain Rougerie is still suffering from a back injury he picked up during a 44-20 win over Grenoble two weeks ago, while Nalaga is rested after receiving a knock to his ribs during Friday's 28-25 victory over Stade Français.
French international scrum-half Morgan Parra will also be missing as he is due for a break after competing in 505 of the 560 minutes played by the team since the beginning of the season.
Prop Vincent Debaty (leg) and lock Jamie Cudmore (thigh) are also doubtful.
Good news, however, for fans in the Auvergne is the return of South African flanker Gerhard Vosloo, who has been out since last April after a groin operation."

Hound - it's being talked over in minute detail over on the Scarlets forum! Don't think it weakens them all that much though, not with the squad depth they've got.

Looks like the French team are "resting" players ahead of the Heineken Cup.

Guess its no different in rugby. Hands off our players and give Morgan Stoddart and Gareth Maule back.

Maybe you should bear it in mind next time.

"The news does not appear to be so good for blindside Hywel Stoddart, who damaged knee ligaments playing for Newport at his old club Llandovery at the weekend.
The 26-year-old will also go for a scan but it looks likely that he will be turning up on crutches to his October 16 appeal against the red card he was shown when playing for the Black and Ambers against Bedwas last month."
My reading is very selective today. I was going to tell you he was out for the season as I thought I'd read it. He has only played once (Leinster away) this season, but the coaches were pleased with him in preseason.

Unfortunately Dreamer beggars can't be choosers so we have scraped the bottom of the barrel for Daniel Evans. A far cry from our glory days.
We have 10 international players on the book and one of them toyed with the Scarlets in his youth. However we will forgive him. Being born in a stable does not make you a horse. It makes you from Llanelli.

ah gutted for him he's injured so soon then, know he's worked so hard to get a pro contract.
And ooo I lied, they aren't from Gwent originally, they are from near Ponty!

We have loads in common. We have both watched the Green Mile and we both want the black and amber glory days to be restored and we have both had the pleasure of criticising Munsty in the past.
I have contacted the Dragons for some conceptual ideas about our new mascot - Puff the Magic Dragon. Ive nominated you to play him Rev. You have just the build and fiery temper needed to pull it off.

Its just a smokescreen. Just wait until Munster have a team worth supporting then you will see where his loyalties lie

Where they always have. With the highest bidder.
At the moment thats Rory McIllroy but he told me I was too Irish to gain entry.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
I’m impaled on the horns of a dilemma here.
This fella, he was my mate, my really close mate, and he completely phooked me over and I can’t trust him anymore, it happened about a year ago now and we’ve not spoken since, I’ve seen him in the company of mutual friends but it’s always very awkward. But I was also close friends with his girlfriend, and shortly after what happened he proposed to her. They’re getting married at the end of the month and I’ve just gotten an email from her telling me that it would mean a lot to her to turn up to show that I’m happy for her and her decision. I would feel like I’m being petty if I didn’t go, but it will be really tough if I do.
To be honest, I’m not even really asking for advice (but will happily take on board anything anyone has to say), but it’s cathartic to just get it off my chest.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
I just got the mail there MrsP, I haven’t told her about it yet. she just started a new job and I don’t want to be ringing her while she’s in the office, we’ll talk about it later.
I suspect she will go if I want to go, she dislikes the fella because of what he’s done to me, rather than to her, if that makes sense.

I understand indeed.
Tough one.
Could you have a very important "other" appointment that day?
I guess if you decide to go you would probably be better to manage to put what happened completely behind you somehow rather than go and have a truely horrible day.
Could you talk to this bloke sometime and sort out your differences before the big day?

Yeah, the more i think about it the more i feel i should sort things out with him for once and for all, just tell him that it's behind us and we might never be as good mates as we were before but that there's no need to avoid eachother from now on, which is what we've been doing. Sure I'll talk it all out with A later. Thanks folks, genuinely feel better about it now.
Story Prop, I bloody well loved the Hulk and the Mummy was a complete surprise, I didn't know what to expect at all but it was savage, I also like Men in Black, the picture of the two of us from that one makes us look like we're taking things VERY seriously!!

I didn’t even attempt it, I know I hate heights and no amount of dangling 60m above the ground is going to convince me otherwise.
Coasters are fine though, as long as they don’t dwell on the height thing, like that one in universal (can’t remember the name but it was the only one there), didn’t like that…

Silly question, but what was the max height limit for people on most of the rides - my long back means I couldn't go on most of the rides at Alton Towers - trying to clip in the safety harnesses crunched up my spine so much I nearly needed to visit the chiropractor after.

I had a look Pete but there was no max height for any of the rides I was on. I cut my knee up real nice on a log flume ride because there was no leg room and my knees had to be used as brakes! There was another one where i couldn't fit in the front row because you had to stretch your legs right out in front of you! Americans are big though, maybe their seats allow for taller folk.
