The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Oxford
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The Pub has made its way to Oxford and the only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Seve Ballesteros, Andy Fenby, Nick Williams,Tim Visser, Adam Ashley Cooper and Paul Lawrie up on the wall.

Dreamer,
Make me a promise pal. NEVER Drink and Drive. Not even ONE. Ever.
Being a total & utter hypocrite, I did drink & drive back in the day. It was more socially acceptable back then. Feicin madness. I cringe when I think back. How I never had, or caused - a bad accident, is totally beyond me. Specially as most everyone else on the road were pished as well back then. Evolution & Elfin Safety, are grand tings sometimes.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
N.B. Any jokes about there being no cars on the roads back then, will be suitably ignored btw. Just sayin... MrsP!

Gibbo - promise made. I know I wouldn't be able to drive on even just one, would very much hope I'd never be so twp as to risk it. I'm a small person, I know that one is more than enough to go to my head to affect my driving.

The lack of news about the whereabouts of that young girl is worrying dreamer; especially ss the police have arrested someone.
I've just had an email from Ealing RFC about England AI ticket applications. Lawd knows how the RFU allocate tickets to the affiliate clubs.
Ealing have :-
Fiji - 0 ???
Aus - 22
SA - 44!!!
NZ - 5
I don't understand that lot.

Glad the weeun is on the mend Asbop.
Ear pain is horrible. If anyone here has never had it believe me, kids are not making a fuss when they scream, it really is that sore!
Glad she is on the mend.
Totally agree with Gibbo on the DD front. (I know it doesn't happen that often so it must be important!) (The "me agreeing with Gibbo" that is, not the DD itself!)
Never get behind that wheel if you have had any!

A fair few folk round here drive home after they've been to the pub MrsP. I think coz the pub is right out in the sticks they think it won't be a problem, but I'd say they are dangerous enough to drive on even without the drink.

There was a guy we heard of who used to do that till he got caught and banned. He then decided that he would use his Ride-on Law mower to get himself home from the pub as he didn't need a Licience to drive that!

had a nose on that on Twitter, Don. Seems a shame for Connacht, and not sure it's a good thing it's been announced so soon in the season. Can't be all that helpful to the players I wouldn't say.

Apparently some guy in Evesham used to ride his horse home from the pub - The Trumpet - plastered (him, not the horse!). The trouble is you can be arrested for riding a horse on the public highway while unfit through drink. Oz will confirm, I'm sure.
The guy who told me this story used to have a Bass pumpclip welded to the front of his bicycle, which he also rode home frazzed. Frequently acquainting him self with parked vehicles and various items of 'street furniture' and hedges. No law about being drunk in charge of a bike.
Blydi odd place is Evesham.

Aye it does a bit, get himself a bit of a break. Who'll be the next man for Connacht though? Any Irish coaches out there good enough or will they look overseas?

Not good news out West. Hope he can be persuaded to get back into the game in some capacity. What he has done with Connacht is remarkable and he is probably the reason they are able to attract some decent players.
I'm sure it might be difficult to attract an established coach to Galway but there are one or two recently retired guys who might fancy a go.

Thats terrible altogether. I've come home pished & stoned on my bike for years. Never hit anyone. Couldn' t even see em if I did.
Seriously, we have our own roads and traffic-lights(which we totally ignore) you see. And most bikers are in the same state at 3 in de morn.
Lights, bells, beer in hand, spliff in the other, all moving at 2km ph. Its safe.
Why? Because here, Bike Is King. Cars are the divil. All car-drivers are cyclists too. Ergo, they are tuned into it.
I love this country. Its nice always being 25 years ahead of the rest.

Kidney to Connacht!
You know it make so much sense.
I'd love it, but I reckon he's not qualified to take them to the next level, tbh.
Steady Eddie could do. He'd be perfect for it.

"Jamsie, I'm goin tae count tae a 100, When I get to 2, I want an explanation for that basterdin pole!"
This, is possibly one of the best comedy programs of all time. Its Black too. Really Black.
Very few writers and directors even dare to go there.
"The 1st thing to go in our house - when the global economy began to collapse, was the string-quartet in the lobby."
Id dream of even thinking of saying something like that.
Our Lucky & Our Glas, are pretty Poopie-hot at it tho. They scare people on that Tim's Tractor Thread. Its the real Welsh coming out to play, you see.
Has to be said.

Moooorning all!
Been up since half 6, preparing questions to interview the Llandovery head coach, which I have now just finished doing. He was only free to take phone calls between 7 and 7.30 in the morning!! Not at my most articulate this time of the day but got some good answers. Hope to get a piece written up sometime tomorrow
Hope everyone's well this morning

Reading through the papers this morning, its looking less and less likely though. A quote from the times says
Really not a good thing read in a case like this
By the way he is named in the times however I don't think its appropriate for me to name him here

Bore da pawb / good morning all, I'll have a please.
Speaking of bad driving (which you weren't, you were talking about drink-driving, but anyway), I saw one of those police programmes last night and this (Cardiff) boy was pulled over after he'd overtaken someone at 60 mph on a 30 mph road. It turns out he already had ten points on his licence - and he'd already had his licence revoked once. He was still in his teens. It mystifies me how people can think that once they've passed their test, they can drive however they like.

Hoog they cornered off a bit by the Dyfi bridge and river at about 5pm yesterday and they've had the coastguards in too. None of the news coming from it sounds good and there was no new news from the press conference this morning either. It's just sickening.
I've been to Mach a fair few times, especially when I was in uni in Aber, it's one of the nicest towns I've ever been to. Just would never have imagined something so horrible happening there.
Weather really isn't helping with the search either. It's just horrible
