First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to "sleepy" Roswell New Mexico, take off point for the first ever supersonic free-fall this week.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Felix Baumgartner and Chris Budgen up on the wall.

I played SG the last couple of seasons but I kept forgetting to make my picks - and when I did remember, I couldn't help tipping the teams I wanted to win rather than the teams most likely to win. I'm no good at sports prediction games (although I did win £80 on the Grand National this year!).

Tondi Chavhanga's in the squad for the Bayonne game. It'll be great to have him back, as long as we use him properly.

EDIT: although it looks like we've dropped Dan Evans. WTF?!

The match preview on the Dragons website is really badly written and there are mistakes everywhere ('Avrion' Bayonnais, Patrick 'Leech'). Is there a polite way of emailing them and telling them I could do a better job, or that I'd be happy to check their articles for them before they put them online?

I'm hot and cold too.
This one is only for 4 rounds so it's not such a long stretch of email reminders. Bat 'em back as they come in I say. Smile

It's the tournaments that go on for 38 weeks that you need to be on your toes for to get your picks in but I've never had a problem with timing. Whistle

I've noticed a rise in the numbers of cockatoos here. So noisy! Gave one a drink the other day. It just landed on an outside table so I filled up bowl of water. It took a few swigs, stuck it's claw in a bit and gave me a wink of the eye. The it just turned it's arse on me and flew back off into the valley.... to be with his loud mates!

Not for the actual matches. 6 games in 1st round, 5 in the 2nd, 6 in the 3rd and finally 2 matches in the 4th round. 19 games.

In the SG thing... you just pick a winner and a margin... or a draw.

Thanks Glas,
I've had 66.67% about three times - finished on it once. It's the perfect score in my book. The hardest thing is to be perfectly mediocre.

My worst is this champions league cricket comp. I'm on 14.57%. Erm Everything I tip turns to dust.

On the other hand I've had a few high 70%ers and into the 80s for a couple of weeks in other tipping comps on there.

Mastered the backstroke on my way into work this morning. An unbelievable amount of water fell last night. We're talking surface water on the dual carriageway type of rain.

And it's still falling...

Luckless it isn't a joke. Just saying.

He prounced both L and R as W and although he could pronounce S it was a bad bad lisp.

Worst part was that he was talking about a serious news story about a girl who was sexually assaulted. Made him a bad spokesman for the radio story as it was hard to take him seriously.

Well if he's a good reporter and he can be understood, I don't think it's that big a deal. If his speech impediments made it hard to understand what he was saying, then that would be different.

He was a barrister reporting on the sentence given to the attacker. Basically the judge sentenced him to 4 years in jail but told him that if he paid €15,000 he would avoid jail time.

After a few minutes you got the gist of his speech manner.

Dan Evs is out for two weeks or so with a broken thumb. Great to see Tondi back, but it's a bit iffy maybe, as he was only allowed twenty mins for Newport this weekend and if we pick an injury up early, he'll be possibly forced to get longer than he planned. I think due to Dan's injury, Adam Hughes will be back on the wing too, which I would rather not happen (unless Amos starts 15).

One for Mrs P to answer her question from the other day;

"Full-back Jamie Smith, who has had an injury-plagued time at the Dragons since joining in the summer of 2011, has also suffered a fresh problem.

The Ulsterman had an operation on his ankle last year and it became infected in the close season. He was getting back to fitness but has now tweaked a hamstring."

I'd suggest he'll be one getting released at the end of the season.

Rev, seeing as we've got Leach and Tuilagi back in the squad, I'd guess that'll be our centre pairing, although I agree that Adam Hughes is better at outside centre.

The BBC (and possibly the Dragons website) are talking about Amos as a centre, but I'm sure I've only ever seen him play in the back three.

I haven't seen the full details of the case but the whole idea that if you drum up the cash your can pay your way out of jail - does not sit right at all.

It's terrible, Stag. It makes you wonder how often this kind of thing goes on. Surely if you're guilty, you're guilty and your punishment shouldn't depend on how much money you've got.

I think they're possibly confusing him with "Joe" Dixon. I think he's back three at a push. I wouldn't consider him as a wing either, but there you go.

I'm interested to hear Stag's opinion too laughing

I thought that Lucky was asking me about the jail sentence.

Re: the Dragons options in the backline I think that there is no need for Hughes at centre, though he is probably a better centre than a winger.

PS - surely Halloween is an ideal marketing opportunity for the Dragons. Amber pumpkins, black witches hats etc.

No. They'll get between 40-100 odd for mainland UK trips (depending on the size of the game) and not many will travel over the water.

The thing with it is though, is you get quality rather than quantity. The guys that travel are pretty vocal.
