The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jersey
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to the island of Jersey, where the newly promoted hme side is off the bottom of the Championship.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Glen Jackson, Dan Parks and Matt Banahan above the bar.

Mawnin' Pub
Just had crumpets for breakfast. Nom!
Hope everyone's well.
Notch - what you said earlier about being unable to debate on the Ireland thread - it's the same with the Welsh ones. I gave up on them yonks ago. It's a shame really, because I'm not so knowledgable about rugby myself, I like reading some comments cause I might learn something.
Risca - hope today goes well for you.

One bright spot abut the weekend is I've called all the winners right so far on SuperBru- just need New Zealand to beat Scotland to get 6 out of 6. Rather less accurate with the margins though.

My word I must have been hammered last night. I really need to unbookmark 606v2, I get far to dangerous and disclose far too much when I've been drinking.

Hello I hope this is a good game.
I'm spoilt for choice today...what is it with me and 14s? Had Tommy yesterday and today I've got Visser and Jane to watch.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jersey
I know I shouldn't given the rankings situation, but I would love Scotland to take a big scalp in the next two weeks. Even if it consigned us to the third tier of seedings for the next World Cup I can't bring myself to cheer against them. Sure if we play against Argentina like we did against South Africa we don't deserve to be in the Top Eight anyway.
Not that it matters today because I cannot foresee any other result than a NZ win.

Regardless of the rugby, Scotland home games always seem to provide a top atmosphere. Good man Visser singing Flower of Scotland!

17-34 at HT. Good tries from Scotland, but NZ have been superb as usual. They've shown some great skill.

I didn't think Scotland deserved to have 50 put on them, but some of the NZ handling was superb. The Scottish front 5 were excellent.
There was a good mix in the pub for the game.

Evening pub.
I really thought I was beyond the waking up and face-palming myself, apparently not, I made a complete knob of myself yesterday.
I think this constitutes a mid-life crisis.

Ta Glas, it's nice to know you're there.
I may need representation if I carry on like this, do you know anyone out this way?
MrsP, it appears that I'm becoming massively intolerant of certain things all of a sudden (all of a sudden when I've had a drink, that is.), I'm not one for buying or reading newspapers, but I wouldn't be surprised if I were to wake up in a shop doorway clutching a copy of the Daily Mail one of these days.
It's bad enough.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Jersey
Ah ha!
Those prejudices have always been there. It's just that, with age, you are losing the ability to disguise them as well!
You see, grumpy old men, which is what you are telling me you have become, were actually grumpy young men who thought that no one would like them if they showed their true character. This lead them to try to keep all that intolerance under a thin veneer of social acceptability. The vineer has eventually worn off revealing your true self.
Just rejoice in the freedom this brings.

Don't you go tarring all us Ulster fans with the one brush!!!!
Just because you haven't managed to hide your intolerances for quite so long as PJ doesn't mean that we are all like that!

Ol Grumpy Drawers? Yeah, fair enough as it happens.
Prop, if anything happens to me - you know what to do.
I had a chat with the gaffer this afternoon, and she said it's been noticeable over the last 6 months, I thought it had only been 6 weeks - since I gave up smoking - so that was a bit of a shocker.
Anyhoo, the little sh!t deserved it, probably.
