First topic message reminder :

Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The pub has made its way to the island of Jersey, where the newly promoted hme side is off the bottom of the Championship.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Glen Jackson, Dan Parks and Matt Banahan above the bar.

Gibbo I'm so happy for you man, I know that you were going loopy (well, slightly loopier than you normally are Wink ) being out of work. I bet your office is a blast if their all mad cloggie hippies like yer good self.

Glas, we are getting loads of them at the moment, all inspired by one James Savile esq. Up until the begining of November I had 2 historic allegations this year, but since, we are averaging about 3 a day in the office. I'm guessing that it's probably quite tough for people like yourself having to defend people for that sort of thing as I think it's one of those offences where you almost instinctively know when when dealing with people whether they are guilty or not.

prop, I am sure we have got Glaws at least another 3 times this season. We need to try to make one of the games bud, you are one of the faces in here that I've not managed to have a beer with yet.

Hi all. Nice to see so many people in.

I'm hoping the local Hindus call a truce soon. It's the last night of Diwali and there's ordnance going off all around. My road called a halt to it at 21:15, but others don't seem to have spoken to their neighbours.

Earplugs and out folks.

Pete, you are doing a great job there mate. It must be so emotionally taxing as you arrive on the scene. Such a sad story above. Sad

The repercussions of the JS revelations are being felt here too in a big way.
A Royal Commission into Child Sex Abuse is about to get underway. There have already been some arrests... some people have been bottling up their horrible experiences for 30, 40 years and are coming out in big numbers now. It will be a long a difficult process no doubt.

Not much news on the rugby front here. We tend to go back into our shell after a big loss. I'm sure the players will want to make amends on Saturday but we are definitely on the back foot. Is it an attitude problem (one off?) or player selection problem? Or both? It's hard to say but I feel as though the Wallabies have lost something there... going from 3.5 tries/match a little over a year ago to 0.3 tries/match.

I hear where you're coming from. They're a bloody difficult and complicated lot to party with. Laugh Welsh Regs Hug

However, they do get some points occasionally for punching above their own weight (either pie or non-pie rated), making the most noise per capita (ye Irish are not too far behind) but I love all that. In fact, I find myself willing them (and Ireland) along sometimes. A bit like Ulster, Tasman and The Force. Know what I mean?

What's that all about?

Nite Ozzy. Press the 'reset' button before sleep.

You've probably already trained your mind to think positive when difficult thoughts are circling around.

I use that technique before nodding off. Dream an ideal world where everything is just how you want it. Very Happy

Also, get any evil thoughts out of the way quickly.
Like Swanny said: "I want to murder someone, etc...." We all feel like that at times.

Do that bit quickly in your imagination... then say to yourself - "No, not really... I'd even give those bar stewards another chance" whether it's true or not (re-inforce the moral positives - or nan's way of thinking) - then focus on the positive, ideal world scenario.

You'll feel better in the morning. thumbsup

Keep it up Swanny. OK
I need to get back into some exercise too. I've been so slack it's sickening.

Posted by Kiwi on another thread.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-news/the-wallabies-are-england-in-disguise-there-is-no-bigger-insult-than-that-20121114-29bb0.html

Agree with Bob Dwyer:

"Rugby is a game which deserves to be played positively, by which I mean that every team should be willing to risk defeat in the pursuit of victory. If your primary aim is to avoid defeat by avoiding risks, you would be better off not playing rugby at all. To set out to win by capitalising on the mistakes of your opponents is, in my opinion, a miserable way to play the game."

A bit harsh and unfair on England - but if that's what motivates them I think that's only part of it.

A proper Very Happy too MrsP, feeling rejuvenated.

Pilates is just great, I should not have stopped going. Measured, gentle exercises that don't do funny things to my blood pressure and improve my posture no end. My back feels great, I highly recommend it.

I'm going to LB, lesson learned this time.

I agree with what that quotation, Breaker. Furthermore, safety-first rugby is boring as hell to watch.

Morning all. We've had a bit of a calamity here this morning. A couple of the gang came down to put red diesel from the big bowser in the yard into the small bowser they have on the back of a pickup. They started the pump and came into the office to have their breakfast (no, they're not supposed to leave it unattended, but it has a mechanism that switches off the supply once the bowser is full). Ten minutes or so later, I went out for a fag and heard the sound of rushing water; I went to investigate and there was red diesel gushing off the pickup and out across the yard. It turns out that the thieves who had stolen batteries out of some other vehicles at another yard over the weekend had also taken some pipes / taps from the bowser on the pickup, so the diesel was just pouring straight through it and out the other side. Shocked

Over 500 litres of red diesel down the Swannee, Swanny.

EDIT: I should point out that none of the diesel actually went down the drain. Hold your horses, Greenpeace.

Thank heaven's somebody out there thinks this way. Make him a knight/saint/CEO of the IRB.

They should say the laws with this in mind.

"The Wallabies are England in diguise: There is no bigger insult than that."

Oh, I don't know about that, I can think of worse things to be compared to than a Wallaby, not many sure, but there are a few.

To think some of these smaller rugby playing nations have the nerve to call US arrogant, whatever next? Laugh
