The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Colwyn Bay
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Colwyn Bay, where the Tier 2 AIs are currently taking place.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Bob Scott and Malele Kunavore above the bar.

Luke Marshall and Craig Gilroy carve them up.
If Fiji let Marshall and Cave make easy linebreaks like that they're in for a long night.

Well done lads.
Boy those Marshall lads look good. Paul, Peter, Paddy and Luke. And there was me thinking there were only 2 of them!
Very proud of those lads. I know Fiji are not the toughest of opposition but they still showed the senior" guys what they should be doing!

Saw the England game earlier.
Not sold on the purple kit. I thought they looked like Christmas pressies with the gold numbers and all. And the shorts were a different shade than the shirts. Come on lads...co-ordinate!

Didn't see all of the game, (possible knee ligament damage) but I wasn't too impressed with us. We scored tries but we showed little back play or initiative just pure hands, that is not good enough to beat better sides than Fiji. We seemed to play with a good tempo, Murray looked okay from the bit I saw.

Playing rugby is the simple answer, at a ruck my knee kind of got caught in the turf, fella comes in to clear me out, I fall and my knee kind of caves in. Managed to play on for another bit. It's minor damage can probably continue on if I strap it up.

Evening all
Congrats breaker on the win mate. I've not seen the game yet so don't have anything to say about it. At face value am disappointed as I thought we had enough to win. Reading the comments on here and elsewhere there seem to be about a milion different views fo where we went wrong, so I guess I shall have to reserve judgement until after I've watched it tonight.
In other news, the London Irish Wild Geese won away at Chippenham today 34-31, to make it 11 wins from 11 with 9 try bonus points, which sees them top of National League 3 SW.
COME ON YOU IRISH!!!
Hope everyone is well.

Ozzy, I watched the highlights on BBC3. Suffice it to say that the pace at which both sides played the game was in a different league to what Wales have produced in the last couple of weeks.

When is Gatland back lucky? I get the impression that Howley may have lost the dressing room a bit.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Colwyn Bay
He's back for the next two matches, but unless he brings a new attack coach with him I don't see too much changing. I've said elsewhere that our gameplan hasn't changed much in the last few seasons, and it only brought results last season because we played it at pace and with intensity. When opponents match our urgency or we lack it ourselves, we're screwed.

Congrats LB & Oz. You guys needed that (+ Dingo ). From what I can gather Oz played well, given last week's result.
Only saw the first 25 minutes at the clubhouse and was then watching Ealing claim a 59-17 win over Sedgley Park.
Well done the 'Geese' Ozzy

That's a good win mate, although probably expected against Sedgley Park. Is it one or two go up to the Championship? Could be a cracking battle between yourselves, Rosslyn Park, Blaydon and Esher.

Lucky, that just seems really strange that he comes back for two matches and then is off again. I was talking to someone at work earlier who was convinced that Wales would have been better off with Edwards as ther interim head coach in Gatland's absence.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Colwyn Bay
It's a bit of a disgrace that Howley's ended up at the helm when he has so little experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's ever been head coach of anyone and he finds himself interim head coach of the national side. And in his capacity as attack coach, what experience does he have outside the Wales setup? The same goes for Neil Jenkins as skills coach. (That's right, Neil Jenkins, the famous running outside half.)

Sorry Oz, late response. Only one go up from N1, and that will probably be Park. They have a few players with pro experience (e.g. Dom Shabbo and Hugo Ellis).
Ealing are going to invade The Rock when we play them on 22nd December.

That's where Hugo is now? Weird. Can't say I miss him at the Drags thanks to Tom Brown and Ieuan Jones coming through, but I'd have thought he would be a big higher up now (no disrespect Hound).

Phil Bennett - great outside half. Academically though? A bit twp. Never coached anybody.
Howley, above average scrum half. Academically more twp. Twp people don't make good coaches.

Yeah Rev, most of us at Wasps thought the big ginger monster would have gone onto better things. He left us for first team action at y Dreigiau, but couldn't cut it with you guys.
Maybe he's found his level. Mind you he is Park's top try scorer - not bad playing at 8.
N1 rocks!!

Yeah I saw that Prop. He is a bit too small to make it (in my opinion).
That is good going Hound (top scorer).

Giving the Dragons a miss today. Going to watch a Risca XV play Brampton Beavers from Canada instead. Curious how Dan Evs will go at ten though. I'm sure Lucky will fill me in on the Dragons plusses and minuses later.

Evening All
Congratulations Ulster - just scraped ahead this afternoon, thus maintaining their unbeaten reign...I didn't see the game but read updates on Facebook. Looks like it was a close call.
Hope everyone's well. Just waiting for Scrum V to come on...it could be depressing though.

Scraped through doesn't even come close to descibing it Cari.
The outer layer of epidermis of the skin of our teeth is still a bit of an understatment!
They scored 4 tries against us including one while they had a man in the bin. Our gathering of restarts was...I'm not sure I can find an adjective which adequately conveys quite how poor.
Scrum went well most of the time though. And we are missing at least a full team and then some through injury and call ups. We actually only have one second row available just now. And boy did it show!

Two days looking after the little ones is exhausting!
Still, myself and Isobelle made a train this afternoon, and I have taught her to say, and write, gorgonzola cheese. Sounds hilarious when she says it for some reason
Hope all is well with everyone

Are you having a wee lie down in a darkened room to recover?
Well done on the cheese lesson.
Every well equiped young lady should be able to say and spell Gongorzola!

Evening MrsP!
I confess that I've turned to drink!!!
Just the one though honest, tis a school night after all
The ladies in M&S yesterday thought it was funny when Isobelle suddenly yelled gorgonzola very loudly for no discernible reason! Her mother should be grateful, I could have chosen something waaay worse
And we've read loads of stories today, she does love her books. Explaining what an exclamation mark is for was interesting though

My thoughts exactly MrsP
An early night's in order for me, it's going to be a long week. It's OSCE week so 4 days of very nervous Year 4 medical students, and 12 hour days for me Still, I'd rather be doing the admin than doing the actual exams, poor wee things.

Classic!
Busy week ahead for me, client engaged me for a renovation then buys the place next store - effectively doubling the scope of works.
Also, I'm getting all the dirt together for a big Tender. Would be massive. (part of 23km rail link & associated works) I have to submit my price next Wednesday and I'll know the outcome early Dec.
I'm competing with 2 other firms... one of them I used to work for. They are such greedy (not to mention ungrateful) baastards!
The director was whinging about 'money' at the Briefing last week. I just put my serious face on & nodded 'in agreement'.
I need to find that balance of undercutting their price & delivering the services but they will no doubt have the edge in the 'non-price' categories - resources, experience, etc.
I just hope the Wallabies can show the same intensity against Italy next weekend. We need the same team to turn up which prevailed on Saturday. It's all quite stressful being an Aussie fan. There's the cricket too later this week.

Sorry Rev, I didn't go either. I missed the highlights too, so I still haven't seen Chavhanga's hat trick. But on the plus side, I watched Home Alone and fell asleep on the sofa.
