2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
First topic message reminder :
The discussion(s) continue here guys.
Unbelievable win for the Canaries tonight which see's Man City top for the first time this season, will they hold on.
QPR - still without a win - look doomed and Aston Villa drop into the bottom 3.

I think United will romp this title and could have it won by 10+ points come May. The race for the Champions League spots will be more interesting.

To think Chris Powell got sent to the stands for asking the ref at half time to explain his decisions in the recent Charlton-Sheff Wednesday match

Starting to seem as if Mancini was right in the summer to be demanding players, the most crucial time is to spend whilst your on top. And City haven't really done that (still lack a CB imo) and its showing this season

Still a young GK learning his trade. These mistakes will make him a better keeper 5 years down the line

Well at least Villa put on a better defensive performance today. Only half the goals conceded from the game before

Once scholes had gone off and the rest of the midfield didn't have to cover for him we mauled them, could have got 4 in the last 20 minutes.

I'm not sold on him one bit Olly. He's been given way too much praise way too early and it looks as if he's buying into his own hype.

That'll be the only thing that'll stop him is arrogance. Nothing wrong with a GK being confident, and he does have the ability, that's undeniable. You gotta remember in GK terms he is still young, a good 10-15 years left in him yet. Still to mature fully

I still think Wright is some sort of practical joke! He got rejected by Colchester for god's sake!
The others seemed like panic buys to me

Look at him, just kicked the keeper too- he's a muppet.
It was a penalty but being pulled by the shoulder backwards doesn't make you fall forwards hands In the air screaming!

What was ridgewell doing?
I know his hand was there before it was headed and in front of his face and I don't think it was a penalty but I've never seen anyone jump and spin like that - was like ballet or something.

I saw lukaku live last season and he was one of
The worst players I've ever seen.
Don't think he would be playing top level if he wasnt an absolute tank, technique is poor IMO, touch lacking. Still very young mind.

When I saw him Ent he looked the real deal! Needs game time for sure to develop.
Worst player I've seen live this season is by far Ronnie Stam. Put in 5 crosses, all 5 went out for goal kicks. Seriously laughable

He came on as a wide forward at ot last year, blunted their attack, couldn't control the ball, fell over a few times and had no pace from a standing start to beat a man.
Powerhouse and does alright through the middle but more Heskey than drogba for me.
Dear dear refs are getting a hammering today, that Wigan penalty was a cert.

And a handball by Kone for the goal!!
Wigan are going down this year. Can't believe Martinez didn't get out when he had the chance and to be honest I lost a little respect for him because of it. Yes loyalty and all that but showing no ambition for me for his career

A little observation was that clapping for Di Matteo the Chelski fans do wasn't as loud and as forthcoming today as I have seen it on TV.
Very impressed with the way Chelsea defended. Solid

To be fair he only had an offer from Liverpool who aren't that enticing at the minute, not like he turned down an amazing job.
I like him, since he took over Wigan they've lost:
Kirkland
Heskey
Valencia
Palacios
Rodallega
Diame
Moses
N zogbia
And more, think he's done well though they'll likely go down this year despite him getting kone in.

I read a great piece in the Express a couple of weeks back regarding Shearer and his lack of objectivity on MOTD and it's nice to see he's taken no notice whatsoever. Awful punditry week after week.

I do like him and admire the job he has done but I like to see ambition and two summers in a row he's turned down jobs for a relegation battle. As much as I was disappointed Lambert left I do admire his opportunism and ambition, same with Rodgers (cant stand him though, head is so far up his own arse it comes out his neck again)

Well Rodgers is a con man/blagger so he will always move on before he's found out.
What genuinely appealing job has he turned down though?
Liverpool have one good player under 30 and no money.

Turned down Villa the summer of 2011 and Liverpool last season. Both much more appealing than Wigan, who he has taken as far as they'll go

I agree with Ent on Brenda. I bet he pinches himself every night over the fact that he has somehow managed to bag th LFC hot set, no matter what current state the club is in.

I honestly don't think either of those jobs are that appealing.
No cash to turn the squads round not much talent in the squads either.
Had he knocked back spurs or equivalent I'd have agreed.

I do agree grass isn't always greener but I like a risk taker. Get outside that comfort zone, push yourself, be the best you can be.

I'm more interested in looking down at this stage, seeing who is below us.
Big game sat. Off up to Villa Park saturday morning.
Got to beat Wigan. 6 points ahead if we do.
