First Energy Stadium...... dear oh dear. I love many things about the NFL but the stadium naming rights thing and the naff names it leads to is something I struggle to get on board with. I include the Redskins own FedEx Field in that. Where's the mistique in being named after a parcel delivery company??? Banks, phone companies, energy companies, food companies etc are all just as bad.

I'm sure they will come up with many "inventive" headlines now for how the Browns play along the lines of "Electric performance at First Energy Stadium". Not a great name for a stadium but they'll all take money over a name, Haslam has also said they've notified the League that they may want to change uniforms but that can't happen until 2014, and won't change helmets.

Not sure if anyone cares too much but:
@AlbertBreer
And here are the tenders for RFAs ... High tender is $2.879M (1st-Rd comp); Next is $2.023M (2nd-Rd comp); Then $1.323M (original draft rd).

I liked Bradley and Lovie. But I can deal with Chip over Billick or Whis.
Important he gets a good staff around him. He'll also adapt his offense to his personnel.

Perhaps Gus Bradley and Darrell Bevell will now compete for the Jags' HC job. Winner returns to Seattle.

The Patriots had the fastest time per play in the NFL this season at 24.9 seconds. Under Chip Kelly- Oregon was 20.9. That's fast.

No. He earns 15m, and Chip Kelly isn't going to run the exact same offense as he did in college. He knows it wont fly in the NFL.

I like it a lot. I think Brady is very clever when he uses it though. If he doesn't like the matchups he sees he'll go into the huddle, but if he sees matchups he can take advantages of (ie. not enough DB's on the field he'll throw, too many DB's he'll run it) he'll use it a lot. The quick snap count is also a big factor.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Cool, since Belichick got it from Kelly. And I don't think Brady runs the zone read very often. The guys adapts his offense, they Eagles hired him because of his leadership and ability to build a program, not because he had a gimmicky offensive system

And we're going to a 3-4 apparently, so Star makes a ton of sense since we don't have a NT

Got to say also, after the beating in the media Howie Roseman took, from an anonymous source that may or may not have been Joe Banner, he landed the guy Banner couldn't. This might feel a little bit sweeter to him.

You also don't have any obvious 3-4 pass rushers do you? Cole is definitely a DE, doesn't seem a great fit for the 3-4 roster wise

Cole was drafted as a linebacker. Graham was touted as a 3-4 convert prospect tbf. Few conversions to be made, but its been done

Means little in the long run, but impressive opening from Kelly in his press conference.
Offense will be personnel driven rather than just a spread option.
Hasnt decided on 3-4 4-3 yet.

Makes a nice change - a new coach going into a job without having things set in stone e.g. 34 over 43. At least that's what he says. In any case teams run in sub like 60% of the time.GSC wrote:Means little in the long run, but impressive opening from Kelly in his press conference.

No I'm not either. Smacks of Emery trying to be the smartest guy in the room, and get that outside the box guy.
Hasn't coached in the NFL for over 10 years. Couldn't even get a college HC job so went to Canada.

Tebow is shoite and always will be as a QB, a transition to another position probably wonuldn't be too easy either, it's hard to be a read option QB as Tebow was for a good bit down last season's strtch if you can't throw the ball.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I think at the moment, if you take Tebow as a QB, he has to start otherwise the circus will just undermine the starting QB like Sanchez. The Bears would just turn into this years Jets.

I saw NFLN with a segment where Casserley endorsed Tebow to Philly
Made me sad
His style only really works if he plays the whole game and wears down a D.
