For those interested in the award show, if you have gamepass and rewind the NFL network feed to 5am its on in full.
Some nice jokes in there... like Alec Baldwin talking about how hard is to be the best brother and then throwing in "Am I right Eli?"

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Even though Victor Cruz is now an RFA and Hakeem Nicks has one year left on deal, Giants have placed a higher priority on re-signing Nicks
Interesting ...

Nicks has a lot higher upside than Cruz, who is a restricted FA next year iirc, meaning he can be retained for cheap, or they get a 1st and 3rd for him.

Yeah, for all Nicks injury problems, he is still a very good number 1 receiver who can win against double teams.

Doubt it, NFL loves to keep them for primetime, NBC will want it and the Steelers were kinda meh last year.
NE at Baltimore has a certain symmetry after the AFCCG, that game has to be the favorite I think.

Be interesting to see how Baltimore deals with the loss of Lewis and a possible loss of Ed Reed too

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Rumours out of Oakland are they to ask Palmer to take a cut in his salary for the next season. It's believed if he doesn't agree they may cut ties altogether with a view to drafting Geno Smith in the first round
Given the strength in defense in this draft and Oaklands blatant need across the parkl in this position I sincerely hope this is just rubbish that somebody has made up to keep the Palmer haters who follow Oakland happy

Seriously... he's way more elite than Megatron... just look at the numbers
Against Seattle in week 8 (with the leagues best corners no less) Young stacked up a massive 100 yards off 9 receptions with 1 TD. Megatron had a meager 3 catches for 46 yards and no scores.
Need I say more

Nooo!
If we waste our first round pick - a high one at that on a QB then I will be angry. We need help in so many other places. If we cut Palmer then trade down, get a later 1st and a 2nd and take Barkley in round 2 after a pass rusher in the first. Christ.
Alternatively, tailor our offense to McFadden and Pryor. We're still rebuilding, nothing to lose from a season of Terrelle.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I've suggested the Raiders trade down and get extra picks, possible trade pattern could be the Jets. They may have to take Barkley in the first round though. I expect him to be one of the QBs reached for in the first round.
I would expect Geno Smith to be going to the Chiefs or Jaguars at the moment.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I hope so Mikey, if he's on the board at 3 and we take him I think it's a bad move right now. I actually also don't think Barkley would suit us (even though I suggested him earlier) and our receivers, we need a strong arm guy so I'd just take a big arm in the later rounds after we deal with the pressing needs.
We definitely should trade back. I hope we do, because we can still get a pass rusher in this fairly deep class, and we are still short on picks elsewhere.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
All the mocks I've seen so far show him going at 3 to the Raiders (except one, which inexplicably has us taking Smith), so I'd say you need to get to at least 2nd GSC.
Jags might want to use the pick to get Werner though, assuming that the Chiefs take Joeckel.

Aye, the thinking would be that the Jags could pick up a 4th or something to drop 2 spots and still get their guy though.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Possibly, but again if Werner is there at 3 and Star is gone there is a big chance he is taken by the Raiders instead.
Suppose Jags could go for Smith and it be less of a reach from there, but it's still a reach.
