You can carryover cap space from previous years under the new CBA.
Doesn't affect the minimum spend introduced in a few years so you might as well do it.

So I'd expect Haslam and Banner to go hard in FA with nearly 50m (before they dump some players) to spend

A year ago, KC named Crennel HC, the first HC hired last year. 4 teams hired after Jan 20th.

So carry over $1million and you've got an extra million to spend next year?

Nope. Shot down quite quickly.
Some guy named Thurman will be promoted from in house. Basically irrelevant since its Rex's D anyway.
Mike Pettine, he of the many anonymous sources named DC in Buffalo

Wes Welker played 32 weeks post-ACL/MCL surgery. Adrian Peterson 37 weeks post-ACL/MCL. Re RG3's ACL/LCL, it's 34.5 weeks till opening day.
Worth mentioning neither looked entirely comfortable in the opening stretch.

Don't get that one, his stock was high a year ago, but hes done an awful job this season.

Heard 6-8 months and 8-12.
Though if I'm the Redskins I wait until hes 100% even if I have to hold him out of games. Gotta play the long game with RG3
Agreed GSC. I'm already worried about this chat coming out that the rehab is 6-8 months and that he will be back for the start of the season and maybe even to participate in training camp. Surely if Shanahan has learned anything here it's that RG3 gets nowhere near a practice field, let alone be exposed to any kind of contact until that knee is as close to 100% as it can ever get again. I don't like all this chat about him being back for the start of the season. Let's not rush it. As you've also pointed out, neither Welker or Peterson looked comfortable in the early stages after returning from their injuries and from what I've read, because the LCL is involved, RG3's rehab should likely take longer cos the surgery involved in fixing it is more invasive. Also, the longer term recovery from an LCL appears to be less predictable than an ACL tear.
I think what Redskins fans want to hear is that RG3 won't be back until he's ready. I don't particularly care if that is on time for the start of next season or not.

Skyforger wrote:JmD wrote:Skyforger wrote:Whilst I agree everyone loves to see the Jets lose, doesn't the attitude problem and the Coach's failure to control his players sound more like the Lions?
I might be wrong, but weren't the Lions the most penalised team in the entire league? Definitely in personal fouls anyway. Plus they were the most arrested team in the offseason. The Jets were among the least penalised teams this year. How do the two compare? Where is the failure to control the players? Their problem is they have no talent in the offensive skill positions, a terrible coordinator to go with it and are in the most cut throat media environment in the USA.
Sorry, probably didn't express myself very well. I was commenting on Number 25's post about the Seahawks having a talented player who behaves like a douche, who is likely to turn people against him and the team if the Coach doesn't control him. I felt this sounded a lot more like the situation with Suh at the Lions, than the Jets who don't have any talented players but have a douche for a Coach.
Ah, apologies Skyforger, I should have read it more carefully.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Trying to connect some dots:
Chicago: Still think Arians makes the most sense here, as as a guy with some experience as a HC and a record of working with QBs. McCoy in play but he might fit the pattern of good coordinator bad HC.
Arizona: I'm pretty sure this will be a HC with a history of developing QBs. Jay Gruden in play. Though they might go to Ray Horton if theyre worried he'll be poached.
Cleveland: Not entirely sure what the Browns will go with. They clearly went hard for Kelly and I sense Marrone was the backup plan. Think Banner wants an offensive guy a la Reid, Whisenhunt getting a 2nd interview.
Philadelphia: Like Cleveland they wanted Kelly, Marrone and O'Brien. Don't think the other Kelly is a serious contender, he uses the Eagles for a raise and they pick his brain on draft prospects. Defensive guys like Lovie Smith and Gus Bradley seem to have sprung to the fore.
San Diego: Havent really got into the coaching search as they prioritised a GM first. With Telesco in place, a reunion with Arians could make sense. Hard to get a read on them yet.
Jacksonville: Caldwell has deep roots to 49ers coach Greg Roman

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I see the mayor of Washington DC wants the Redskins to change their 'politically incorrect' nickname. Doubt it will happen anytime soon though and it would be a shame to lose 80 years of history.
If the change is forced though, how about these names:-
Washington Braves - Back to their first name in Boston
Washington Reds - Dropping the 'skins
Washington Indians - A different take on the Redskins name
Washington Senators - An old NFL team from 1921

The Browns will name Panthers OC Rob Chudzinski as their new HC.
Fits the young, offensive mind they were looking for. Can't say I'm a massive fan though, he played a part in Cam's slump and the Panthers gameplanned pretty poorly overall this season

That is if you ignore the fact that the best thing about our defense is our DT pairing of Taylor and Rubin you can't double team both and they both help stop the inside runs, plus our linebackers aren't great and Jackson is better in the 4-3. I love Cleveland bring in Heckert and Jauron get them to build a pretty good d-line and young improving linebackers that suit the 4-3, fire them and bring in a 3-4 guy. Nobody saw that one coming! GENIUS!
