Ah you two have it spot on. I think if Terry was fit/playing then Luiz would be in the DM role. I think Chelsea's biggest problem is too many attacking options and not that many defensive ones.

Booooooooooooooooooooo!!! I wanted Hart off there. 'Twas a good save though and I think that's Frank's opportunity to break the record gone if he doesn't score in this game.

Mikel doing a great job of shielding his defence as Yaya glides by him. I'm not a fan.
Silva is so damn good.
West - I think the problem isnt a lack of talent, but younger players being inconsistent. Thats why I think you could come straight back, the Championship doesnt punish inconsistency like the Prem. It would need an experienced head or two though. You're still not down, the likes of us (west ham) and southampton will drop back into it. Goals keep teams up, Benteke performing could propel you a little. God knows whats happening with Bent though?!

Cahill having a great game. We've been so sloppy when we get to their box. Also I'm kinda glad Lamps didn't score. He was useless before his contract situation was under media scrutiny. He's always preferred to leave contract talk until the season's over so I get bloody irritated when every discussion about Chelsea leads towards it.

I think that's 1st, 2nd and 20th in the table sorted now. Chelsea have been garbage this afternoon, not that I'm complaining, but I expected something better from them.

Not sure how you can say Cahill had a great game. Looks like he's got no confidence with the ball anymore after that Brazil foul up. Twice gave the ball away today and he was at fault for the Toure goal with no pressing, Terry would of been all over him right in his face for the cause. Lampard will still break the record with plenty of games left, just had a bad day and he always goes bottom left so it was no surprise that Hart read it.
United champions with QPR gone. Reading will join them and the last place will go to the last day. Massive win for Newcastle pretty much guaranteed safety. If only we had these players all season and Cabaye hadn't missed two months.

What an absolute douche Jonathan De Guzman was being there. Pathetically selfish. Dyer has a chance to score a cup final hat trick and he won't let him take the penalty.

De Guzman is the penalty taker, dyer shouldn't have even got involved.

Its 3-0 at Wembley against a league 2 team down to 10 men. If Dyed wants it de Guzman should show some class

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
It's a cup final and De Guzman is the penalty taker, Dyer was in the wrong. He should accept it and move on, you can't become argumentative with your own teammates and let it effect the team in a Cup Final, regardless of the score or the opposition. Disrepectful. Laudrup substituted Dyer, which says everything you need to know. Cup finals are about being professional and getting the job done. Credit to Laudrup.
Anyway, all this does is once again emphasize what a shocking job Arsenal did against Bradford and in particular Wenger. I hope there ashamed at themselves for losing to Bradford. Will never get an easier chance at winning a trophy.

Dyer shouldnt have argued, but De Guzman should have offered. 3-0 against ten men, chance to make some history, Id be offering thats all I'm saying, I like romance in my football

Might be a big penalty at some point for De Guzman and Swansea, good opportunity for him to get experience taking one on a big occassion etc.
Dyer should have just kept quiet and continued playing.

Was hardly a "big" penalty was it? They were 3-0 up against a 10 man League 2 side!

Albion back on a roll after a bit of a blip. Lukaku is an absolute machine, hopefully Chelsea sign Falcao/Cavani/anyone so we can have him another year.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
I think it would have been a nice touch for De Guzman to offer the spot kick to dyer, he was fantastic up until the penalty after which his frustration got the better of him and affected his performance.
That being said as the designated spot taker De Guzman was well within in his rights to stand his ground and it was an excellently taken penalty in the end.
Dyer should be a little embarrassed in the morning as he came across as a spoilt kid having a tantrum!

Well good for them.
But that wasn't. So I don't see why he couldn't have handed it to Dyer so he could have his moment (potentially)

Makes sense for their penalty taker to get experience in big occassions.

It's striking a ball from 12 yards and we are talking about professionals here, he doesn't/shouldn't need experience.
It came down to the fact that he wanted to score in the final and as the normal pen taker didn't want to give up the opportunity.

Well thats nonsense, people freeze on big occassions and having the experience of scoring a penalty in a wembley cip final will certainly help the next time he faces a pressure penalty.
He is the penalty taker, why would he give it up? I'm sure everyone in the team would have wanted to take it and get on the score sheet.

Totally agree with the second half of your statement, however the first part I don't.
The pressure was hardly on at 3-0 up against Bradford, cup final or not. Taking a penalty is rarely about experience or repetition it's about confidence, composure and conviction.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
The penalty situation is irrelevant, what people should be discussing is how on earth did Arsenal lose to Bradford. That is the question. Totally embarrasing result and then they further humiliate themselves by losing to Blackburn, how Wenger is still managing this club is truly unbelievable. That League Cup had Arsenal's name on it with the clubs that were left, shocking.
To further embarrass himself Wenger has now said that Arsenal can realistically finish second this season in the EPL. I'm not even an Arsenal fan but Wenger's head has gone, truly finished at the top level now and isn't even understanding how to solve Arsenal's problems. Dropping your first team for an F.A Cup game which is more winnable than a Champions League game against Bayern was a horrific decision. The priority was Top 4, F.A Cup & then the Champions League but somehow Wenger couldn't understand that and the capabilities of his poor squad. Why keep Wenger in the job with £70m to spend in the summer? He will spend about £10m and then buy youth which will fail again. He even thinks Falcao is a realistic signing

Great metaphor. Isn't that Ade all over? Goes to a team on loan, impresses, gets signed permanently then does f all after it.

Was Defoe injured in January? Maybe they thought they'd get away with him and Dempsey in an emergency until the summer when I think they will bring in someone.

Spurs on paper aren't a million miles away from being a pretty decent side, with Champions League money and football (looking likely), they could really push on in the summer.

I daresay Spurs are better off without Redknapp in that regard.
Contrast for Rodgers and Redknapp, their old teams far outperforming their new ones.
Difference is Spurs dumped Redknapp

Probably closest I've come to tears in a normal game. We've just been beaten by Gareth Bale and I've just become a convert into the Bale fan club.
Think there's a foul in that second but Caulker had chances. I think we deserved a point but I can't argue with Bale having 3 points, the only drop from perfection in that game was some awful free kicks.

I feel bad for Jussi. Including Bale, he was my MotM. I haven't seen a goalkeeping performance like that since Myhill v Spurs in the league many years ago when he played for Hull.

It's the first time I've seen him turn out for you since the switch to be fair. Henderson has improved five fold this season.

Henderson was very impressive against us at Anfield tbf. Now he is being played where he is meant to be (ie not RM), he is developing.

Not a huge fan of Henderson yet, still hasnt added enough to be more than a functional player, but hes young so there's time.
Hugo Lloris is arguably the best keeper in the Premier League. Him and Julio Cesar are fantastic. De Gea is the best shot stopper, but Lloris' reading of the game in particular is wonderful. Him and Bale are the real talent in that team dragging a side into the Champions League that maybe isnt 100% there yet otherwise. More additions like Holtby and they will be, much to my chagrin
