Wasn't it his other knee that ended his career? Still, it was a terrible challenge. far worse than a little bite.

You're just missing the point really aren't you. Keane tried to hurt Haaland, he had no care whether he broke his leg. The same people who say Liverpool should sell Suarez must surely say that Manchester United should have sold Keane.

i agree with you. today people would of called for keanes head. but footballers are supposedly role models these days. if this happened in the 90's in the eras of gascoigne and jones, suarez behaviour wouldnt shock anyone

Not really, clearly there would be a big difference in deliberately breaking someone's leg and ending their career than hitting them hard.
Different times, united wouldn't tolerate keane spending nights in the cells in modern times etc
Rightly or wrongly keane had a target, Suarez didnt and really can't be relied on.

Plus, Suarez's first strike in this whole mess was racism. Frankly, the club should have got rid of him then. He got bloody lucky that "its my culture" seemed to get accepted. Not sure its Dutch culture but lets forget his time there. Suarez is always doing something, and not just anger problems. The dives (I dont really get up in arms about diving, but add it to the list and its damn annoying), the handball in the cup, hes a bit odious.
I get the point, others have had strikes of poor behaviour and not been sold, but he seems to do all his in the worst way and is constant bad press. If the media wasnt so effusive in its praise of Liverpool then he'd rarely get defended.
And I wish people wouldnt make a big deal about giving money to charity, especially giving money to Hillsborough. "Look, Im a nice guy, take my money for your cause, dont hate me cos look at my money and your cause." Bad enough saying Ive given it to charity, but to bring up Hillsborough is just baiting forgiveness from Liverpool fans.

the handball in the cup is the most sickening to me..
To cheat against a team from the lower leagues is not right..
Its so morally curropt imo

Shows no prejudice to be fair, he didnt patronise them he just did what naturally occured. Its no big deal, its only worth noting in context with the list. On its own its just a player scoring a dodgy goal.

Keane cut his career short withn that challenge. He didn't manage to play a full 90 mins again, and blamed the damage of the challenge for the reason. Man City then released him because he could never regain full fitness.

itrs so wrong and shows up the sport in the worst way possible.
this is all subjective.
You see rugby players get all crazy violent sometimes, tip tackling, biting, gouging etc..
Yes its a proper game.. But there is a certain amount of pride to the game. There is still an amount of fair play.. The players and fans a like can all have a good drink together afterwards..
We will allways have violence in sport..
And it looks like we will allways have cheats.. But even in the days when cheating/gamesmanship etc seemed so wrong - there were still adreniline fueled men doing crazy things..

I think it's harsh to blame him for that, it's totally inconclusive whether he meant it or not and the Mansfield manager even said he didn't think it was deliberate, the fourth official said that they noticed it but didn't think it was deliberate so still awarded the goal. Of all the things to criticise Suarez for, that's right at the bottom of the list because almost everybody has said it wasn't deliberate.

but then he could of done a miroslav klose and said to the ref he handled it, irrespective of it being deliberate or not. I agree it's probably on the bottom of his lengthy pile of incidents over the past five years or so for Ajax, Liverpool and Uruguay

Thats the problem ultimately
Its not the first or second time hes done something immensely stupid. Only so many times you can keep slapping him on the wrist as a club

Rodgers actually asked the fourth official during the game about the incident and he was told by the fourth official that the team of officials had noticed the handball. Admitted it wouldn't even have changed anything.

crazy
that was one of the most blatent hand balls ever and even if it was a mistake(i just watched it by the way) and it hadnt hit his raised arm/hand there is no way he would have scored the goal..
They must be the most inept refs ever

Lets leave the suarez at fault out of this for a minute.
But can anyone justify that as legimate!

Haaland finished the game, played midweek for Norway then 70 mins in the next city game.
His left knee had been giving him problems for a while and he spent 3 years rehabbing it.
Had there been any suggestion it was keanes fault he would have had legal action taken against him, simple really.

And on the length of Suarez's ban, I'd look at what happened to Ashley Barnes of Brighton this season.
He had a couple of past run ins, and then got sent off for tripping the ref and got a 7 game ban.
Suarez is gonna get a lengthy one

They've said 3 games is going to be inadequate.
I reckon 5 that takes us to the end of the season.
Having just seen the whole incident in real time, it's absolutely mental - he deserves a big ban just for the sheer stupidity of it all.

I think they will want to draw a line under it and not have it rolling into next season.
I also imagine he will be getting a serious warning that any more nonsense and he'll be losing half a season plus with his next ban.

Seen a number of Liverpool fans quickly mention Cantona and that Utd welcomed him back for his misdemeanour involving the Crystal Palace fan. Fair enough, give Suarez a 9 month ban as well then if you want a similar treatment.

Except a silly little bite is slightly different than trying to kung fu kick a fan and trying to punch a fan and getting criminal charges. Ivanovic has even accepted the apology.

Not advocating beating a fan and he would be gone in the modern game but being racially abused vs nothing and history of racism vs kicking a few people?
Suarez is lukcy to still be at liverpool after the racial abuse issue, really it's a cumulation of things.
Under no provocation he has bitten an opponent, then feigned injury afterwards. He is going to get a lengthy suspension, as good a player as he is, he can't be relied on. I'm sure if Cantona had a second spectacular misdemeanour he would have been sacked.
Also United banned him for the rest of the season immediately IIRC.

He actually drew blood though, leaving quite a serious gash. Suarez' bite was an attempt to wind Ivanovic up rather than an attempt to hurt, very similar to stamping on a foot, albeit a lot weirder.

I'm not going to get into the racism debate, only that there is absolutely no evidence for it other than what Evra claimed. No video evidence, no complaint to the police so we wouldn't be able to see what happened if it got to court, but I don't think it'd make it that far. The FA have to have a very strong stance on racism, even in the face of no evidence.
I don't think it was "under no provocation", Ivanovic had been winding him up all game, yes it's all part of the game, but it wasn't unprovoked, if you reviewed the footage of the whole game and kept it all on Suarez you'd see Ivanovic winding him up a lot by holding him, probably getting a few digs in as defenders do. It didn't come from nowhere. It was just a ridiculous reaction to the provocation.

He admitted it, case closed.
He wasn't provoked, thats normal interaction between defender and attacker - he doesn't bite his opponents every week and Suarez is every bit the antagonist towards the defender.
I'll be honest your reply is embarassing.

If you could give me this proof of Suarez admitting it, that'd be great. You'll be looking for a long time. He stopped saying he was innocent, but he didn't ever admit it.
Yes, but in different circumstances the same actions can cause different reactions. He had just conceded the penalty putting the team a goal behind, he'd had a largely frustrating game and was on somewhat of a drought by his standards. I'm not defending his actions, I'm just saying that the bite didn't come from nowhere, it came out of frustration and anger, directed towards the person who had been tasked with controlling him and had been doing a good job. It's totally wrong, of course it is, but it's not unprovoked. It wasn't a reasonable reaction, but it was a reaction nonetheless.
I'm sorry you feel that my reply is embarrassing, I'm sorry that I hold a different view to you and haven't joined in the mass hysteria over what was just a stupid action.
