Is Fernandinhio worth 30m?
I dont know much about him bar the fact he is supposedly ok and brazilian!
What has he done special to warrant that tag?

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread. The Final Day and Off Season
Whenever I've seen him in the Champions League, he has been very good, has the potential to dominate games from the centre. He'll probably allow Toure to work further up the pitch and perhaps regain the form that just wasn't there last year.
Not sure if he's worth £30 million, particularly as he is nearly 30.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread. The Final Day and Off Season
I think people are reading too much into his age. He's only 28 at the moment and can still be effective in the box-to-box role for at least two or three seasons, maybe more. If he does lose his legs, then he will either be sold back to Ukraine or he will go to Brazil. If he isn't sold then he will just play the holding/deep playmaker role that Barry has played for years. I think, as Crimey says, this signing is more about allowing Yaya Toure the freedom to express himself and actually impact on games.
I still think Pellegrini is only a short term fix at Man City, everything about him just appears to be about dominating and winning as much as possible in the first couple of years, while the youth development system begins to work and produce. I can see Man City spending huge this summer on mature, experienced players and then when Pellegrini leaves, they will hope to have a younger, long term appointment in place who can work with the new youth coming through. That's the policy, will it work......who knows?

Good to see Andros Townsend blaming his recent betting offences on TV advertising. No one is ever at fault for anything

I think Fernandinho will be a fantastic signing, i'm pretty sure i watched the matches that Shaktar had against Chelsea in the Champions League last season and he is very hard working and he is a good all round player and he makes things happen for himself and his teammates.

Swansea have cut ties with Laudrup's agent, as they believe he is trying to engineer a move away from the Swans for Michael...

Apparently PSG want Laudrup as their new manager now. I think he's going to get an awful reputation as a manager if he doesn't manage to have a sustained period of time at one club.

It's a shame for Laudrup as he's agent seems to have been stirring the pot to aid his own pocket.
If he goes to PSG it'll be a couple of seasons before he moves on again.

Decent signing by Hull for full back Maynor Figueroa he is one of a few Wigan players that don't deserve to be playing Championship football next season. Hopefully Hull can make him score another ping from the half way line

If you were not listening to that Joe Kinnear interview on Talksport, you have just missed out on 15 minutes of pure comedy gold for anyone who isn't a Newcastle fan.
He must have got most of the players names wrong and then taking the glory for players he never he even signed (like Krul/Perch!)

Love how he says he worked without a budget at Wimbledon, signing players for free transfers
He signed John Hartson for 7.5m
That's Brighton's idea of a small budget

Away to Swansea, we've a 1-0 win (defensive error) and a draw there.
Chelsea at home, enough said.
Liverpool away, always a big game even though they are garbage, also the added fact moyes never got a win there.

West Ham got:
Cardiff H
Newcastle A
Stoke H
Southampton A
We'll be top after 4 games...
Our run in is Spurs and City though, so I hope we aren't needing anything from those games.

So BT Sport have a few big games there then:
Tottenham v Chelsea
Man City v Everton
Everton v Liverpool
Tottenham v Man Utd
They're just holding back I think until the latter stage of the season.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread. The Final Day and Off Season
tbh you'll find for the money you have to pay for both services they both suck
Hate this country and how money has corrupted our league
For the money we pay we should be able to watch whichever game we want on a red button option instead of being held to ransom by Sky and BT and being told which matches to watch. We shouldn't have to wait until 5 hours after games have kicked off to catch extended highlights
I get its an increased revenue stream for our league clubs, but all that does is adds to their already vast wealth as the fan sees very little of it returned in reduced ticket prices (which if anything keep on going up)
English football supporters get ripped off, if we want to watch football we have to pay through the nose for it, whether its on TV or live

The BT games arent the best, the first four are pretty poor. Cant see why any of them would be first choice. Think I must of missed the small print where its says that they have first pick (after sky)
Either that or the panel who picked the games need sacking

Sky have more first picks that they've chosen to use first. BT will get bigger games towards the tail-end of the season.

Fantasy Football is back on for the new season. Anyone know much of the three teams coming up? Any dark horses in there that are worth putting in the team on the cheap? I see Murray got 31 goals for Palace last season....
