The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way to Hong Kong, host city for the British & Irish Lions first Tour match before their arrival in Australia - land of the Giant Budgie Smuggler.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy the rugby.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of Rory Best, Sam Warburton, the Limavady Luge Team, Papa Rodders, Mrs Rodders and our newest & sweetest member, Katelyn.

Yeah, highly trainedathleteshorses jumping over things and seeing who can run the fastest etc.... whats the appeal?

I'd like to know what the horses are choosing to do instead of watching the race. Playing poker, I suppose.

What I meant was, do people actually watch for the joy of seeing horses running fast or is it really only enjoyed by gamblers?

That's a valid question, MrsP.
I don't think it's fair that the horse wins the race but its owner gets the money.

I have an uncle who puts horses peinises in to female horses. Some would call that pornography. He calls it working on a Stud farm.

Evening All
Welcome home to the travellers from Oz. I bet it's been hotter here than over there. It was a roasting 28 degrees in Cardiff today...felt like 40 on the bus home though.

Cheers Cari. The mad thing with buses here is that the engineers set the buses up with the heating on in summer to draw heat away from the engines.
Crazy!

If you stand close to the rail the thunder of hooves as the horses go by is a thrill.

See, I don't think I would like that.
I remember being taken to watch parades when I was a small child. (We took my next door neighbour called Geraldine.) The drum beat made me really uncomfortable because I felt it in my chest like it was competing with my sinus node for the dominant pacemaker role.

Thats the kind of music I love. Want it to attack my senses. I want a sash and a bowler-hat right now. I'd love to march with those boys. I want to feel their history and try to understand it all from their perspective.
In a Leinster jersey. With a big phhook-off harp on it.
I just love Life's continually changing tapestry. Don't you pal?

Hiya Gobby!
I have no idea what exactly it was about the whole thing that made me uncomfortable but it certainly isn't what makes me uncomfortable about the whole thing now.
It was weird.
I can just see you in a bowler with a Leinster jersey too.

Thers's more than one bit???
I suddenly feel like our Churchill Cup team who suffered the indignity of having the Americans know all the verses of Ireland's Call when they didn't even know other verses existed!
I'm not sure which was funnier. Seeing them think the thing was over at the end of the first verse or the second verse. Or seeing them terrified to move after the third verse just in case it hadn't finished yet!

T'was indeed.
Don't hold that against us though.
Many years ago a friend invited the "very soon to be" MrP and I to an outdoor recital entitled,
"An Evening with Cole Porter."
Except, she got mixed up and when we had driven for about an hour to get there we discovered it was actually entitled,
"An Evening with Phil Coulter!"

Jen, Im old and infirm darlin. I just resigned from the divils work that is Faceache.
It was like giving up charly.
Tough. And terminally boring.
But, presently, I'll login to the Whatsapp wudild, just to see what really happened in my past. Knowworimeanbud?
In the meantime, me and my sis discovered this over the weekend down in Thurles. Man. Two fat basterds with big voices, mashinitupman. Love it.
They would get a Eunuch laid. I know this to be true. Mrs Gibbo has me balls in her handbag since 1974. And she's still dancin round it.
Hate wimmin.

Did anyone happen to watch Horizon tonight? It was about theories on how our personalities are created. Fascinating and mind-boggling in equal measure! I think I may have to watch it again on the iPlayer, it was astonishing.
Medicinal for me before sleep

Phookin South-Ciders. No soul. We took de Ma away(she's 85) for a weekend. In the home of GAA. Tipp were playing Killkenny. The place was packed. It came on de local M Tee Vee like. De VJ was rockin. Both sets of fans sang it for my Mam.
It was magic. Made me proud to be black.
Nite yall.
Love you.

They'd be wrong of course, but they still say it!
Oh Gobby! You have no idea how mad we were!
I was not well that day and had been off work as I had completely lost my voice. Neither of us felt like going but we thought it would be rude to cry off so we made a huge effort to get there. And then.....
We genuinely only realised at the gate of Castle Ward when the guy was showing us where to park!
Then, to make matters worse, my boss was at the concert and gave me a terrible time about not being well enough to go to work but being able to go to a concert!!!!
Thankfully he knew me well enough to know that I didn't throw "sickies".

We are well indeed Ozzy.
Hot though.
Aye he's coming on nicely. Got selected for another "rep" event at the end of the season which is a big feather in his cap as he is still elligible for selection next year. He'll likely not win anything in the UK wide one but it is an honour to get selected, especially a year early.
How are your little Divas? Still treading the boards?

That they are MrsP, number one is in a production of Billy Elliott tomorrow night, number 2 is in a production of Cats on Saturday and the wee one is starting theatre school in September!!!
That's a massive achievement to get selected for a UK wide competition a year early, he must be working really hard to be getting where he is.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ballycastle Bar, Hong Kong.
How good of them to have their shows on different days!
See, mine would end up all doing their thing at the same time in towns 50 miles apart!!!
I would say that up until now he has worked a bit at it but mostly relied on innate ability. The selections for Ulster/N.I. teams has really spurred him on though. I think the penny has eventually dropped that he could be quite good but that he does now need to put the work in.
Good to see.
