Have his odds fallen to 2/1? (Is it a swap deal? Gunnersaurus & Fred the Red up front...)

Bookmaker trick Nando. They lower the odds, plant the rumour and sit back whilst us gullible folk back it thinking we are buying money!
I've learnt this the hard way!

I suppose there's no smoke without fire. Until the BBC or Sky report it (or a good newspaper) though, I won't believe it.

In terms of chance creation.....great. However, I don't think that side is going to score a haul of goals each game. Silva is not a finisher, Navas has an abysmal goalscoring record & Fernandinho & Yaya are not double figure EPL goal machines in my opinion in the mould of Lampard for example. Lot of pressure on Aguero to put the chances away in that line up. Agree or not? Also Garcia would not fill me with much condidence, Clichy is just plain poor and Nastasic is still learning. It's still not the great side I keep hearing City fans shouting about.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Agree John. They'll flake too many times to become champions. Decent looking side on paper mind.
Regarding Silva; bar a six month period in his second season has he really been all that?

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I think that City is XI is just as good as Chelsea's or Manchester United's right now though. All three of holes that you can pick with them. I can still see City delving further into the transfer market.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
To be fair if they get Isco they could just drop Garcia and play a 4-2-3-1, not so sure you need an amazing ball winner in their, look at Utd this year romped home with no real enforcer in CM

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I actually said this in my response to the podcast which I lost, they were all going on about 'steel' in the midfield or 'bite' in the midfield, but I can't think of many top sides that have that. Barcelona, Bayern and Real Madrid all don't have a dedicated defensive midfielder like that, they all use players who read the game. None of the top four in England have players like that either.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Maybe not Crimey but there's no denying that in this country you need a steely first XI if you are seriously going to contest a championship. Man Utd had, in my opinion, the 3rd best squad in the league last season but they had thrice as much bite as any of their rivals.
Guest- Guest
Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I would say Utd had thrice as much firepower, rather than bite tbh. Citeh/Chelski's strikers had poor seasons really, where as Utd had Rooney/RVP firing them in
I wouldn't say Utd had a lot of bite last season tbh

When Manchester City won it the year before, where was the bite in that side that isn't there now? Who have United added to make that difference? I don't buy that at all.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Depends how you define bite I suppose. How many times did United turn a draw into a win and a loss into a draw? A fair few times I'd imagine. Certainly more than their direct rivals.
United are like a dog with a bone and never look beaten. Bite goes beyond having a headless chicken running around looking to win a tackle. I'd say Utd have plenty of bite and always have.

I'd say that's more down to the mental attitude and general ethos of Utd under Fergie
Sort of a John Cena-esque never say die attitude, except for when they go behind against the Nodge

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Yeah but on the podcast the guys were all surprisingly in agreement that what a few teams, including Manchester United, lacked was a steely, defensive midfielder with a bite. I think that's ridiculous as none of the top sides in Europe right now have that other than possibly PSG and Juventus with Matuidi and Vidal, and even they have a lot more to their game than ball-winning.
I think what you're suggesting is not something that can really be bought, it's in the ethos of the club, and takes several years to get right. In England I've only ever really seen it in Manchester United, Chelsea under Mourinho and arguably Manchester City when they looked certain to have not won the title in 11-12.

And to think I was laughed at for backing you to get something against them and a win against Arsenal.
Can't wait for your tips next season kidda.

I'm sure I read that if you put a pound on Nodge to win every week last season you'd have been slightly up. Olly may have been onto something G..

That's cos we won the games we should've lost, and lost the ones we should've won
I'll do some pre-season predos again. My Steve Clarke to be sacked 1st and Swansea to be relegated were particularly good last year

I predicted the exact same thing and stuck a ton on Swansea to finish rock bottom. Not so great minds.

Is it really 5 years too late? Rather Arsenal are now in a stronger position to handle FFP than any of the rest of the top 4.
