The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

Sorry Rodders. I was busy. The article is about the decision to name the Education and Hertiage Center in the new Memorial end stand in honour of Nevin Spence.

Nice touch MrsP. I guess the new stands will have to be named after sponsors.
I see Quins have signed Paul Sackey as an injury replacement for Ross Chisholm (and Ollie Lyndsey-Hague). A bit of an odd one as Sackey is an out and out winger and the two injured players are full backs.

Beating humans at understanding meaning
This context doesn’t just make Google’s voice interfaces usable—some day, it could make them even better than humans. “Today, automatic speech recognition is not as good as people, but our ambition is, we should be able to be better than people,” says Huffman. In order to achieve that, Google will leverage the intimate knowledge it has of its users.
“In some sense Google has a lot of context that [a human transcriptionist] doesn’t have,” says Huffman. “We know where you are based on your phone’s location and there is some context around what you’ve been talking about lately. Therefore that should help us understand what kinds of things you might be saying.”
Maybe its just me, but this frightens the livin shoite out of me. And practically everyone under 30 is buying into it, wholesale.
Forgive them Allah...

Sweet Jeebus. Global Corporations playing ball with those in power. Who'd have thunk it? Its disgraceful and it breaks all freedom and distribution of information acts on every level. It is the thin end of a very dangerous wedge. Western Civilisation is now officially one big Police State. CCTV on every corner and global monitoring is at an all time high and growing. And they talk about Russia and China's lack of civil liberties?
Hypocrites.
Meanwhile... us peasants lap it all up.
Put it this way, would any of the regs have put their analog diary out in the street, for the World to read?
Exactly. But its happening online now. And you cant take it back or delete it.
There is a lot to be said about paper, pencils, pens and tippex.

On a much more trivial note; what a massive pr!ck! And all of this is pretty common in football judging by this summers bloated 'transfer sagas' http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23703265
I hope to God we don't get this kind of behaviour sneaking into rugby when players want a move. Savage comes across an an over-priveleged manchild with no loyalty or respect for anyone but himself. Is this mindset endemic to top-flight football?

It's the way of professional football these days. All that matters to the players is themselves and all that matters to the suits is how much each one is worth and how much they can make from them. Club and country don't mean schitt. It's just a product, a label and a shirt.

Gutted. The usual Friday night repeat of Love/Hate isn't being shown and I can't watch it online cause the website tells me I'm in the wrong country! WTF?! I'll just have to dish out £20 for the DVD boxed set. At least I get all three series then though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
It can be a pain, Prop.
I had a gut feeling there was some miscommunication between Solicitors before the agreed day of handover (someone was dragging the chain / there was some minor 'spat' between offices... or there was some problem on the Vendor's side) so I rang up my Solicitor just to ask "is everything OK?"
Lucky I did that. It turned out that there were pieces of paper being jetted around the country (Perth and Canberra) for signatures to correct typos... one letter of a name was missing, ffs!
When I insisted that I must be in by "such and such a date" (I'd booked the removalists) and I don't want any #-ups, my Solicitor got upset... and gave me some vague BS answers which didn't really confirm anything. Anyway, it did sort of spur them into action and it all went like clockwork in the end.
Blydi-slow Cup this evening.... I can feel another scoreline blow-out coming on. Nice (warmish) day for it. I've worn a trail to the Stadium of Disappointment lately.
Good luck, Pete. You won't miss Carter but our new look side has an experimental feel to it. I wish them well but it should be yet another AB victory.

I'm off over to Ealing to watch the game Lb. Then we're going to see Ealing take on Carmarthen Quins in a pre season friendly.
Should be a decent game.

Good close game here at Ealing. 28-26.
in for another! 35-26 with 12 to go. 5 tries to 2, but the CQ's kicker, Craig Evans, is 6 from 6 from the tee. Impressive in a tricky wind.

Evening All
Hope everyone's well. I haven't been watching the Championship rugby going on earlier today but I've seen the results. Commiserations Breaker. Meanwhile, at Chez Cari I'm reliving the Lions tour via my new DVD as the weather's been so crap today. There were some cracking tries scored - even early on in the tour, and not just by the Lions. This DVD is just basically all highlights taken from the Sky coverage but there is some changing room footage to admire just before each game. Disc 2 is the Third Test in full. I'm looking forward to that cause I was in the pub for it at the time.

True, Hound.Hound of Harrow wrote:Hard lines Lb, but Aus made way too many errors in that game.
The ABs were so clinical last night. They look so much quicker on the field and their reactions to opportunities always pay off.
The Wallabies, on the other hand, are still getting in each others way and spilling the ball or getting pinged by the ref (credit to the AB breakdown play). They were too slow to capitalise and go forward (unlike NZ) and always under pressure from the AB defence.
Cheers Cari. It was always going to be a hard ask. Not too disappointed though... I sort of expected that end result.

Morning! (just!)
It's a much nicer day in Cardiff today. Been out and about already and just caught the arrse end of sun shower, but it wasn't bad. Blazing sunshine now .
Hound - really enjoyed the third test. Lots of little funny things I missed like Wade afro-combing his hair and Gatlands face after Dr J-Ro scored his try. I've never seen Gats look so animated! It was lovely watching the friendships and support between the players. Can't wait to see the behind-the-scenes DVD when it comes out in October.
I'm going to watch the hurling semi final too, but at home. If it's anything like last week's it'll be awesome, even for a neutral. I think it was a Limerick player who scored an outrageous point from something like 80 metres a few weeks back too.

How would they get the baton round 'illegally'?
For anyone interested the score at ht in the hurling is Clare 1 10 to Limerick 0 6. Not as good a game as last week's classic, but some great individual skill out there.

It has been a huge problem for our men for some time now, although, to be fair, they usually drop it rather than pass it outside the box.
I think they have only managed to get the thing round the track legally once in the past 6 events!
They need to get their heads out of it and just DO it!!!

Well Eirebilly will be happy. Clare won what became a super semi final. Outrageous skills by Colin Ryan from Clare. He knocked over some cracking scores. Limerick will be gutted that they missed seven points early on.

Like MrsP says they got disqualified in the final of the mens 4x100 relay, for an illegal baton transfer. Shame, they missed out on a bronze. Adam Gemili ran a PB in the Mens 200m semi-final, finished fifth in the final in a very strong field. Don't really know whats going on with the rest of the GB Team.
Good showing for Ireland in the racewalking. Not the most glamorous event. Has always puzzled me, racewalking.

Yeah, definitely one for the purists the race walking.
At the WPFG P4 had to walk around the track collecting any "warnings" that had been issued. I reckon she walked further than the athletes!
Actually, the dad of one of the kids at the "swimming Gala" at MPT the other night used to race walk but he said he gave up out of boredom.
Each to his own I suppose!
