The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

Yup, I appreciate the inconvenience to the recruiter and company for sure. In hindsight I should have turned it down initially but these things happen.
I am sympathetic that this guy works on commission but they can be really unprofessional at times, bordering on harrassment at times.

Was the money / hours better? I'd have thought it would be tempting to accept an offer when it's made because it's flattering as much as anything else. They should give you time to think about it.

Personally I decided to wait until the other half goes back to work and seeing how we manage with the wee one before jumping ship. The timing just wasn't the best.
I regret it a bit but there was just too much doubt there to take the risk just now....

Lucky - lamb is lamb and chicken is chicken. It's more the way they handle the meat. I've seen it being delivered, which is often in unrefrigerated lorries with the lamb being kept on the filthy floors of the lorries. Add to that the delivery guys' coats are covered in dried blood. Halal butchers are not clean places and I wouldn't trust the meat not to give you food poisoning.Luckless Pedestrian wrote:Can you taste the difference between halal and non-halal, Hound?
I swear they are not subject to the usual hygiene laws.

I am free until a week Monday...which is just as well. I went to my first gym class yesterday and good grief, are my legs feeling it now. Hope everyone's well.

Evening, Cari. No need for the gym chez Puma - I'm digging out the base for my new summerhouse and sieving out the spoil to use the stones as hardcore. Whew!

Puma - not really. Just painting the living room, go to the gym and doctors. I may go exploring a bit more around Cardiff being as I have a bus card to go anywhere in the city. I don't see enough of this city each day.

All systems go to play again tomorrow. Had a dead leg, but I've eased it with a battery powered massager thing my dad bought me. Hard work working 6-6 Thurs, playing then doing 6-3 yesterday though. My sergeant gave me the last three hours off as I couldn't walk too well earlier, so I had that thing on my quad all day. Seems to have worked out well. Not overly keen on working nights after playing though.
Pleased with the Dragons tonight, though it was just a friendly. Good to see two youngsters get a run too from within the region.

The painting has gone well. After traipsing to Homebase in Culverhouse Cross and back, and about five hours later, I've got the undercoat up. Makes a difference already.
MrsP - Indeed. And they managed to get to Swansea only to lose to the O's.

Jeezus. I'd say they'll not be too downhearted to lose today. Their day could have ended up being a lot worse!!

Precisely. I'd have maybe have thought the game should've been called off, as I would probably have not been in the right frame of mind to play.Notch wrote:Jeezus. I'd say they'll not be too downhearted to lose today. Their day could have ended up being a lot worse!!
We (Brize Norton) won 56-12 today. Lasted the game. Few niggles, but a bit of a break now.

Risca - A late kick off was agreed between all parties. I'm sure if Worcester had insisted on it, then it would have been called off altogether. Luckily no one was injured and they were happy to get a replacement bus. Well done on the win by the way.

I know it was obviously agreed, I was just a little surprised. Just read on the Beeb that they went 12-3 up though, so they were obviously alright.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
I suppose it was less of an issue since it was only a pre-season friendly. Probably better to have a run despite the circumstances when nothing was riding on the result.
I wonder did they get all their stuff off the bus before it went up? They might have lost a lot of kit.
Could have been a lot worse though as has been mentioned.

They musn't have lost their kit, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to fulfil the fixture. Unless they just did shirts vs skins (easy Cari)

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Warriors coach Dean Ryan later told the club website: "(The crash) didn't affect the game at all. Ideally I wouldn't want us to be stood at the side of the motorway but we got on with it.
"It's an incident which will create a story during the week but in terms of today, it wasn't about that.
"We had done too much work to allow it to affect us. For players to get their preparation right and be that physical and sharp when we'd been on the road since 9am is fantastic.
"In terms of the journey we're starting, that was a nice first chapter and we've got a lot to be proud of."
Fair enough.

Apparently some Worcs players had to buy new boots and other items of kit from the Ospreys' club shop.Notch wrote:They musn't have lost their kit, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to fulfil the fixture. Unless they just did shirts vs skins (easy Cari)

Evening All.
The painting is complete! I did a fine job if I do say so myself. I've been painting for almost 12 hours today though. At least my living room looks fab but I'm boogered.
There's a lot of noise about considering the Cardiff City result this afternoon. I knew when they scored. I then put the GAA semi on the radio to drown out the din.

Well done on the painting Cari
Always satisfying when you've done something like that and it turns out well.
Mayo won the football I understand.

Morning
Pardon my delayed reply. Problems with the internet.
Thanks It's the first time I've done so much like this really. I don't normally have the patience to have anything to do with DIY. Mind you, I swore like a trooper much of the time! Mayo did indeed win the football. Tyrone had a good start, and were slightly ahead at HT, but Mayo turned on the gas early on in the second half and Tyrone just couldn't catch up. Mayo also got through to the Minor's final yesterday after hammering Monaghan. Seems like they have some good football clubs over there. Hopefully the Dubs will knock Kerry out next weekend and we'll have a Dublin/Mayo final.

Bore da pawb / good morning all. Great result (albeit in a friendly) for the Dragons against Bath, and I have the best view from my new seat in the Bisley stand. The only downside was that I had Prop sitting next to me.

Morning All
Glad you enjoyed the match Lucky despite having to sit next to Prop Could've been worse...you could've been sat next to me...
Been getting up early despite my week off. Did some more painting this morning - just started the gloss around the windows. I've also sucked a massive wasp up the hoover. I hope it's dead. I'm too nervous to empty the cylinder yet in case a really irate wasp buzzes out at me....

There's a bush in the back garden that's been a magnet for wasps all summer, but they've just kept themselves to themselves. The odd one or two have flown into the bathroom, but I've just left them to fly back out again. I'm usually scared of wasps but maybe I've reached a turning point.
Any bets I get stung today?
