The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

You can always come up mine for games too. I could sky plus games if we are playing and that. I reckon I will keep Sky Sports now, though I could do without paying for it. I don't want to lose the 3rd Lions test yet (which I will if I cancel the Sports).
Where in dodgy Rogey is it? Afon Village? It's all a nice place anyway really, but rather pretentious as it's not full on towny (Newport) and not Valleys like glorious Risca

Yep, can't wait to get to RP again Prop. Afon Village is nice. I was going to buy down there, but a nice house we liked came up in Risca, so it made sense to go there. The only thing with Afon Village is there's no local as such, but at least you are served by the railway line to Cardiff (and Risca).

When you move to Afon Village, Prop, don't complain about the state of the roads. We resurfaced them last year

Fair play to Texas. I wouldn't want to buy any of their records, but they make great radio music.

Evening playmates. How's everyone doing?
Mind numbingly hot isn't it. Not an evening to be playing rugby but the AP club 7s kicks off tonight.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
ROG is in the picture Hound. JS makes a big leap to France and takes on a huge task, to really prove himself. Again. And who's hired straight after, as kicking-coach? Nuff said.
Weird move by Racing. I don't think they know the History. It wont be a middle-ground relationship. They are both very strong individuals. It will work like a dream, or it will be a total disaster.
Although I've always reckoned the Corkman would make a great Coach someday. He just has that strong inner-belief in himself. That kind of belief can spread throughout a team.
I can't wait to hear both of them speak French on TV. With accents.
Hope they Rock together. Be great to see.

Ok Gibbo, I see that now. Didn't recognise ROG.
They're both doing a job though, and in a different environment. Any crepe 'if any exists' will be sorted out by the coaching team.

Evening,
We had a cracking storm here too Lucky. Think it headed in a North-Easterly direction having come up from the South West. We do need it though to clear the air.
New O's jersey out. I like. Reminds me of the Celtic knot fave but plainer. Will have to get one with TIPURIC 7 on the back.
Now back to Love//Hate....laters...

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Heavy rain at Ammanford tyre mart?
We didn't get much of a winter and there's still a month to go. Bugger all rain too.
Perfect for footy though.
I've got rare (only chalk outcrop dwelling and a taste for only certain species of short grasses) butterflies just thinking about the next month or two. Here they show the U20s, Holden Cup (NRL reserve grade) then the main game one after the other. The games today are in NZ so it's started early.
More games this afternoon but I still haven't gotten rid of the prickly pineapple palm tree (I've done a lot of other clearing though) and I'm not sure if I want to get stabbed by the poisonous tips so soon. Maybe just chop some other (less dangerous) stuff into smaller pieces for the bins on Tuesday.
Anyway, I can't be arshed lounging around all day watching sport and it's perfect weather outside. It's 5-9 degs at night, 18-24 during the day. A few degrees above average for July (2nd hottest ever after 2005) and August has been mild. You can feel a hot day just around the corner and spring is approaching. Finals time!
I was dabbling with the idea of going out to Parramatta Stadium this evening (it's only about 10-15 mins away) for the Eels-Sea Eagles match but it clashes with the SXV Final and I've been to too many games in recent months... need a break.
Some good Aussie Rules matches coming up too. Got my tix for the Swans-Pies blockbuster at ANZ next Saturday night.
It's a fantastic game to watch live when it's played well. The way they kick into space and use the whole field, players running miles to get the "front possie" is not properly captured on TV. Lots of hustling and jostling off the ball too. Their fitness levels are incredible.
Trying to boot the ball as far as possible into the forward pocket with 3 defenders making the job difficult. It's a bit of a spectacle really. Must be very similar to Gaelic footy when the crowds go up when a tackle is made but then play moves on so quickly and then another cheer as a mark is taken and things have moved on.
No tips for this weekend. I'm always wrong in SXV. Having a shocking year just like our cricket team. (apart from yesterday)
Let's just hope it's fast, open, see-sawing game and it's not a blow-out either way.

Morning
Thankfully the storm last night has made things more bearable. I was really starting to get fed up with the heat, and I've been badly sunburned twice. Summer really doesn't like me and the feelings mutual. The only good thing about the summer is the GAA. Two big games tonight in the football as they whittle down to the last four of the All Ireland Championship. Don't think I'll be going to O'Neills for it though as they've got some gig music festival thingy on. Am happy to watch it online anyway. Up The Dubs!

Was just about to call the police. Someone was being tortured to within an inch of their life upstairs in our house.
Luckily it was just one of my daughters playing Florence and the Machine.. Phew.
Who told that woman she could sing? They have a lot to answer for.

I'm fine but even more knackered.
Anyone ever worn a pedometer?
Anyone care to hazard a guess at how many steps I had taken from 8am till 1pm?

Haven't a clue MrsP. The average person would take about 130 steps per 100 yards I would guess. I'm gonna have a punt at 160,000.

I have to confess I didn't come anywhere close to your estimate.
But, apparently, the average person walks between 3,000 and 4,000 steps per day.

I've been wearing a pedometer everywhere for about 4 months, Mrs P. Recommended number of steps for fitness is 10,000 per day apparently. So far today, I have managed 14,774, or 9.6 km!

By 1pm I had clocked up almost 20,000.
Don't plan on adding too many more today. Just the essentials and then the stairs.
That's after the washing and ironing is done of course.
