The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
First topic message reminder :
Hello and welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub, a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The pub has made its way back to London where the victorious British & Irish Lions squad will start their 25 day open bus journey across England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland - being greeted by millions of happy, proud, delirious, tipsy and slightly sunburned rugby fans.
So grab a beer, cider, whiskey or wine.... or a warm beverage and sit back and enjoy their well-earned procession through the streets where it all began.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no tampering with the pictures of the legendary
Warren Gatland, Sam Warburton, Alex Corbisiero, Jonathan Sexton, George North, Jamie Roberts and Richie Gray.

No indeed.
We have the WPFG in Belfast just now and I am helping out at the athletics.
Pretty hectic day today, especially this morning!

Ah, my calculations had an extra 0 in there.
Anyway, who are the two Irish rugby players involved in this sex scandal? One has fled to Spain according to the Irish Independent.

Fled to Spain!! Bit dramatic. There's nothing scandalous about what three consenting adults choose to do together. They didn't break any laws, they're young and single (including the girl) so whats the issue? Embarrassment I can understand, sure. I'd imagine the ribbing they'll get from their team mates will be epic. And constant.
Anyway two Munster lads, both in the backs who were on the Lions tour- one from the start one as an injury replacement. Should be able to work that out.
It's all worked out alright to be honest. The level of mockery they've been getting will serve to remind them of the merits of the straight and narrow

I looked it up and apparently 20,000 steps is about 10 miles.
I suspect I may be a bit sore tomorrow.
Notch!
You may be called in as a "12th man" tomorrow!

Yeah!
Tell me about it!
I REALLY hope that HJ set is fixed good and proper!!!
When our "little bit of stick" solution eventfully failed and we discovered that the "alternate" didn't go any lower than 1.40m I thought we might have to steal the extension bar from the Pole Vault!
It could be worse. It could be 2 HJs and a Javelin! Now that would be tricky!
How many Hjers would we lose?

There are only 5 female high-jumpers. 2 hours extra work at least. If they don't turn up and jump, we'll find them and throw them over ourselves

Seriously?
Why didn't they combine the age groups???
We had 27 throwers in one of the Javelin competitions today!!!!!
27!!!!!!
That's 162 throws to measure and Javelins to fetch back!
And we that was only 1 of the 3 Javelin competition we had today!
Thus the 10 miles covered by lunchtime!

We were talking about doing that, but there's just too many men. 20 men. And its the elite men and the older women so its a massive gap in standard too.

Ah ha!
So that is all the female HJers from all the age groups?
Sure that will be over real quick. The good jumpers will come in after the older ones have stopped.
We could have got that out of the way and then got the guys warmed up.
Do you have numbers for the other Hjs?
PM me if you have.

I've met some daft criminals in my time, but parking up and blocking a police car in on a drive whilst peed is up there in the top five.

I'm pretty sure you wont be phrasing his defence in quite those terms?
It's like the bank robber who handed over a bag with his name and address inside or those 2 guys who escaped custody hand cuffed together and then each decided to run at speed past a different side of a lamppost.
Part of me feels a bit sorry for their sheer ineptitude.

Bore da pawb / good morning all. Rain here in the 'Port and rain in Manchester by the sounds. It's a shame because the Test was nicely poised. The sun was shining up there on Saturday, the old man and I had a great time.
She really is awful. Artless singing. That cover of 'You Got the Love' is terrible.

Luckily it was just one of my daughters playing Florence and the Machine.. Phew.
Who told that woman she could sing? They have a lot to answer for.

As my missus says
At least she is doing something different and not just the normal singing through your nose in an American accent about some meaningless shyte.
However. Wouid it kill her to just....... sing in tune! Even occaisionally?

That's a real shame about the weather in Manchester - Jonathan Agnew has just reported on Today programme that it is raining heavily there just now, so England look set to retain the Ashes. Pity - it would have been a fascinating day's play. Anyway, glad that you and your dad had a good day on Saturday, Lucky. Weather here is a bit misty but looking to burn off later, with luck. Away into Stirling for the shopping shortly.

Speaking of weather. We went to Belfast yesterday to see the Titanic museum.
No rain :0
What's the story with that? We even drove round the coast from Newcastle to Newry on the way back.
This global warming is getting ridicous!

Don't think there'll be any play in the cricket today. It is tipping it down here and heavy rain is forecast until the middle of the afternoon, then it's supposed turn to heavy rain showers
Sorry!

I know, Lucky, I was also hoping for an Australian victory for the same reason. And the voices predicting a 5 - 0 whitewash annoyed me. The Ozzies are nothing if not bloody-minded fighters and I hope they keep it up. And anybody else's heart sink to their boots at the words 'And next at the microphone - Geoffrey Boycott'. AAAARghh.

I'm with you on this, Hound. Faletau was very good when he played, unfortunate for him that the strength in depth of back rowers meant his opportunities were limited. In other news, I have managed to mow (some) of my lawn. Didn't find any of the wildebeeste I was expecting - the lions must have had them.

I have to be honest from reading the pointless vague (for "legal reasons") articles in the Irish Indo (and also bear in mind I don't use Twitter), I thought it was Chilli and Fergus McFadden! Maybe that was my own imagination running away with me...but honestly though the hype over nothing when they can't say nothing is just desperate journalism. I was very disappointed to be honest....some detail would've helped Seriously though, was this girl genuinely embarrassed by accidentally leaking it online...or just dying to spill the beans but was weary of the "legal reasons"? One of my fave Joe Orton quotes comes to mind "The problem with Western society is the lack of anything worth concealing". He said that in the mid '60s too.
Anyway, evening all. Turned out nice in Cardiff now after the Welsh Monsoon.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Cari, a pal came back from SW Ireland yesterday and the place was abuzz with this story. He told me the name of one of the players (but you don't know whether to believe them).
There was talk of minders being employed to keep the media at bay, so form your own opinion about that.
I couldn't give a rat's rear end tbh, but I can't help thinking that if this involved certain players this would be blasted all over the main board.
Evening puma. Glad someone agrees with me about Faletau. I thought he really came of age on tour.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
Nah, whilst it's tabloid fodder I think it is true like. What it is is lots of people who were there or involved including that girl texted their mates and, lo and behold, those conversations ended up getting put up on twitter. It all got leaked out by 'friends' and people retweeted it and then the cat was out of the bag. Irish people love to gossip and twitter means that it gets spread around incredibly quickly.

I think I posted before about players being available for training camps etc. ( e.g. Jamie Roberts). So I think it's good news for team Wales.
The French attitude to training has been mentioned by several Welsh and English players.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub, Ealing Broadway
OK. Can't believe that no one knows the story.
Several Irish and Welsh players may have met up in Dublin a couple of weeks ago. Previous to having a holiday together in California. At least 2 of the Irish players may have run into a female person in a fast food restaurant.
These players may have returned to a well known Dublin hotel with said female person.
At least 2 of them may have engaged in certain events with said female person.
There may have been at least 1 Welsh player present at this event (who we might call "pringles")
Other people may have also been there some of whom play rugby but at a much lower level. At least one of these people may have recorded these events on mobile phone camera.
Said female person may have bragged about certain events, that may have happened, on facebook.
So called friends may have made this bragging public. Leading to this person, who may have worked for a well known Dublin firm, out of a job and needing to re locate to the UK.
Various descriptions of events and footage thereof may have appeared on twitter.
One of the rugby players may have gotten into some bother on the ensuing holiday in the USA when an Irish member of the US military may have taken it upon himself to correct this behaviour with violence and then brag about this also on facebook.
This facebook event may have been circulated on twitter and by other means and subsequently removed.
