Yes Felani didn't look too great in fairness. I think his haircut added 18m to his price tag

Wellbeck made the wrong pass a couple of times, and is NOT the prefect partner is he. Could Felliani play off a front man? He has the intelligence.mystiroakey wrote:Yes Stella you are right. I am not quite sure what united want with fellaini tbh. Because he is only another carrick(at best!)
They need an attacking midfielder!!
If SAF was about would they have taken on OZIL??

Will hold judgement until May.Stella wrote:The 6-1 game flattered City but yesterday's game was more comprehensive. No complaints, City were 2 levels above Utd from what I saw but the Moyes Project is a long-term thing, not a short-term "throw lots of money at it" project. Kompany backed up my view that he's by far the best CB in the world, Rooney never got a sniff against him.
This game doesn't have to mean much. From what I've seen it's mainly just Arsenal fans getting over-excited because they're top of the league (having played only 1 decent side which they scraped a win against) and look like contending for something for the first time in almost a decade.
At the end of the day until this weekend, Liverpool were leading the EPL based on a fluke result against United and beating nobody else of note and those wheels have come off. Arsenal now lead having only 1 win of note also (a scrape past Spurs, about as deserved as 'Pools v United) and have beaten/played nobody else decent and managed to get embarrassed by Villa (much worse than than almost the same score versus title contenders who've spent £300m in the last few years).
So far the upper echelons of the EPL have been all over the place, how anyone can pick a winner/loser now is beyond me. United have played City and Liverpool away and Chelsea (most people's #1 pick) at home in their first 5 fixtures. I'm not worried, yet........

United were embarrassing yesterday, quite funny really, especially how delusional and carried away they were after the Leverkusen result. As I said, Leverkusen made Valencia look like the greatest right winger ever seen, glad that city & kolarov bought him back to reality. dreadfully bad signing for £15m. Carrick & Fellaini......my word. That has got to be the worst, most stagnant midfield pairing i've seen in years. A snail could walk round them, serious issues there. Ashley Young......oh dear. what has happened to this guy, needs to be shipped out. Welbeck proved again, although service was poor that he's nothing special up front and everyone knows he cant finish. Vidic showing his age now i fear aswell, especially after the injuries he's had. some big problems for united to solve.

Top hat
Yes, almost impossible to pick the champions thus far but it won't be Utd, well very doubtful. Arsenal normally fall away but their defense was superb at the end of last season and they will always score goals. Can they beat the big teams when it matters?

Neither I nor any of the 5 United fans I'm mates with were remotely. Laughed at how poor Bayer were, but didn't think the result changed much from our luke-warm start to the season.

If I were going to guess (and that's all it is right now), I'd see the monpoly boys fighting it out for the title come May.
Arsenal are a surprise, as I thought they'd struggle for 4th, but Ozil has now swapped them with United in my estimations of success. That said, will wait to see what happens once they start facing top half of the table sides. Would take a 4-1 loss away to City over a 3-1 loss to Villa every day of the week.

Well the united fans i know, were creaming themselves over the result for some reason & with the regaining of form of rooney and his partnership with RVP. Think the media also read to much into it but agree, i think united are average, have been for some time and think it will be a tough year. watching fellaini yesterday just looked horrible, didnt fit at all. that midfield partnership will not work against the high energy top teams, as shown yesterday.

The most settled team in the top 5 is Arsenal.
I cant see them going on a horrid run of form..
Chelsea are disjointed, Citeh are flaky, Man lack depth.
Tottenham are winning ugly i suppose- That could be a very good sign for them!
Liverpool played the best footy out of any team- until the recent loss- but now suarez is back in so that loss can just be forgotten!
This is shaping up to being an amazing season!

I don't particularly rate any of the top sides as outstanding candidates for the title.
Chelsea have been insipid in many games and lost to basle at home.
City have looked poor up until this weekend losing to Cardiff and drawing with Stoke.
United have been abysmal and the manager is clueless.
Really unless someone puts it all together after Christmas I can see this being a season where the lowest points total in years wins the league. Wouldn't be surprised if 80-82 points won it.
Just such a poor league now compared to 5 years ago- barely worth watching.

Man u still have a chance imo.
Any team that has rooney and RVP and a half decent defense will still create.. Playing carrick and Fellaini and only having rooney up top is a struggle.. Its basically an england team!!

Im very happy with Arsenal's start to the season, Aston Villa have always been a bit of a bogey side for us so weren't expecting too much from that. Ramsey has been quality and Ozil is making english football look a doddle so far. If we can continue if could get up the Leyton Orient point where their not great but the confidence is taking them through matches.

Well do well to make the cl this year because of moyes, keeps playing players every week who need carefully managed due to fitness problems and plays too many duff/unreliable players in his sides.mystiroakey wrote:Man u still have a chance imo.

These big defeats will keep happening as young, Valencia etc will all flop against the big sides. Say what you want about welbeck he can be relied upon to do his job and that's why fergie picked him wide left a lot last season.
Fellani is our 4th biggest transfer ever I believe- what a laugh that is.

I would play zaha he can't do any worse than Valencia and young.
Valencia is in the team to defend as he offers nothing going forward but he is brain dead and reactive in his defending rather than knowing what he is doing.
He sprints back on occassion and to loose balls and fools everyone into thinking he works hard.

Carrick, Fel +1 in midfield.
Are wingers are all rubbish so don't bother trying to play with width to accommodate them.
Or if we are going to rigidly stick to 'width', then go big balls and play zaha and janovic (sp?), blood them fresh and young like the United kids of the 90s.
