People forget about what beckham gave teams back in the day , look at england today. We played pretty decent on friday , but it took a great effort to break the 11 men down and it may well have ended up in a 0-0 draw due to their defencive positioning. Having someone like beckham can split any defense in half however they are set up. He gives you that extra option.

Just a top lad in every respect. If gaza had half of his work ethic and sensibility he would have been better than Pele!

I don't think i have ever spoken to anyone, or seen a comment on any footy forum, of someone saying a bad word about David Beckham. Just a top top bloke.

Maybe right after the world cup in 1998NickisBHAFC wrote:I don't think i have ever spoken to anyone, or seen a comment on any footy forum, of someone saying a bad word about David Beckham. Just a top top bloke.
To think, he was hated by some for a few months.

Well he was an abomination. He cost England the World Cup that year.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
He may have cost us a place in the QF's. Remember The argies, lost to holland, to arguably the best goal ever, who then lost to brazil, who then lost to france. England did have a good team though.Azzy Mahmood wrote:Well he was an abomination. He cost England the World Cup that year.

Bergkamp scored a better one than that, against Newcastle. Same type of goal that Edmundo scored for Vasco da Gama against United
England were exciting that year, who knows how they'd have fared. You could argue that Alan Shearer's fat arse cost England more in that game, poor Sol Campbell never knew

I prefer the Bergkamp one against Argentina. Perfect take, great awareness, and stylish finish. All in the last minute of a world qf. Fantastic stuff.

Nothing beats gaza's goal v Scotland.

Bergkamp's pees all over Gazza's......well just about. Yeah, could have won it. Gazza himself was millimetres away from scoring against the Germans.

ive had a few in the past that he let his fame and media attention seeking get in the way of his football, i backed fergie when he was shipped out because he was becoming a circus and his mrs certainly didnt help. madrid, la, milan and paris but his mrs didnt have any say about his footballing career...... yeah rightNickisBHAFC wrote:I don't think i have ever spoken to anyone, or seen a comment on any footy forum, of someone saying a bad word about David Beckham. but ultimately still like becks, but he would have been better getting his head down and sticking it out at united and would have won a lot more than just one season at madrid when he finally broke through

Thanks to all these youtube links I spent half an hour last night watching old goals, like Kanu vs Spurs, di Canio's volley, a David Ginola compilation, and about 10mins watching footage of Patrick Kluivert.
Thanks lads

Yep i agree no way!!
the poster must be a man u fan!
Yes liverpool can be immense. But on a game by game basis(with help for the palace ultras) palace are the loudest IMO. Because they sing and get the rest of the fans going 90 mins of every game whatever it is!!
Man u just shut up if they haven't scored a goal in 10 mins!!

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
I've been to Old Trafford 4 times, and seen United come to the Hawthorns either 6 or 7 times. In all those times combined, they might be close to the noise the Portsmouth fans make at the Hawthorns on their quietest day. Even Blackburn fans are louder than United fans, and that's saying something with their problems.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
take it you've never been to OT during a big game? granted were probably not the loudest for palace or norwich but a big European game or a derby the place can be jumping. not seen the video so don't know what its about but surely it makes sense that 75,000 fans make more noise than 20,000?Olly wrote:I can't take that list seriously. Well I look forward to the Palace "ultras" coming to Carra Rd this season then Myst, see what all this fuss is about!
Liverpool was fairly pants when I went considering they were beating us 5-0. Nowhere near the levels of Fulham though, I think my Nan makes more noise on the toilet than they do

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
the one thing i would say about big stadiums that the sound doesn't travel as well, at OT i sit quite near the away fans and very rarely hear from them if united fans find their voice, they just get drowned out, similar with wembley where i couldn't hear any of the away fans but listened back on tv and could hear them clearly.
does annoy me that for some reason they always put the mics at OT right next to the away fans making them seem like there always making the most noise when in reality you can barely hear them in the stadium

A lot depends on the nature of the game. I know we travel well and travel loud, problem is how Poopie we've been on the road in the prem. Chelsea have always shocked me with how quiet they are. Villa did alright, Wigan brought less than each time I've seen us play Barnsley

As a Liverpool fan I find the atmosphere at Anfield pretty awful compared to what it was like 6-7 years ago. We use to save ourselves for the big Champions League games but those are a thing of the past.
You get the odd league game were it's buzzing but nothing special these days.

Apparantly Ozil limped off for Germany yesterday.
I dunno how to feel about this, on the one hand I wanna see him play this weekend, on the other it dramatically increases our chances of getting something from The Emirates

Tbf whenever i go for a night out, that Kolo and Yaya Toure chant always gets banged out!!!
Best one was in Norwich a few weeks ago, in the toilets and everyone was singing it and smashing the toilets apart when the Ya Ya bit comes on!!! Or in Napa in the summer and last summer in Malia when its just mental!!!
