Fancying Southampton to upset United today. Best defence in the league, and in the top 4 - oh the Saints do surprise.
Think it should be fairly routine elsewhere in the Premier League.

Mike 'turning circle of a lorry' Williamson & Yanga 'I'm Poopie' Mbiwa in central defence up against Suarez & Sturridge. One result.
Hopefully Hatem being dropped last week sparks something special out of him today.

Oh Liverpool should have enough to edge out Newcastle today.
Then we'll be in the slightly baffling position of Liverpool joint-top (assuming Arsenal triumph today) after 8 games.
As I might very well say - they're only 30 games from the dream. What a marathon to run.

There's been a red card between Newcastle-Liverpool for 4 consecutive games now. Liverpool should be well on course to win this game now.

Nothing special about this Liverpool side, bar the strikeforce.
Yanga should be sold, never a EPL player. Great effort from the lads so far. Hopefully we get a point but I doubt it.

Rodgers don't know what he's doing, just hopes S&S keep him in the job. Luis Alberto/Aspas have been shocking signings. Great point after being down to 10 men for half the game. Cabaye scored a great goal, Tiote looked like the player he was two years ago & the lads showed great effort & commitment. Delighted with the point, as for Liverpool two points dropped......top 4 is the target & no more.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
We've dropped two points there in my opinion. Newcastle are an average team and if you take Cabaye out of that side they will really struggle. We should have put the game to bed, Sturridge missed a few guilt edge chances but overall the play was OK, especially in the second half.
Let's be honest though one of Newcastles goal was a hit and hope, doesn't matter what anybody tells me there is just as much as chance of the ball going over or wide when hit from that distance as there is of it going in, and the other a set piece where Sakho switched off for a split second.
As for Rodgers not knowing what he's doing, we sit top of the league and have had a great start to the season. Not bad for a manager who doesn't know what he's doing is it?

Liverpool drop 2 points. Appears their defence went to sleep for the second Newcastle goal, although it needed a very tidy finish. Should have still won it though - had plenty of chances to.

Can say the same thing about Liverpool without Suarez & Sturridge, Cabaye's goal was a hit & hope? Not seen much of him obviouslyhampo171 wrote:We've dropped two points there in my opinion. Go cry in a corner, now the reality has hit home. If only you could play Crystal Palace every week you must be thinking.

Of course it was hit and hope. Look at the reason I gave, that ball could easily of gone high and wide, this time it went in, next time it could go high and wide.
Regarding Suarez and Sturridge, we where playing well without Suarez incase you missed the end of last season and the start of this one, he's just slotted in to a team that is performing.

Embarrassing. Basically every goal then is hit and hope & down to no technical ability whatsoever. Gerrard's penalty was then a 'hit & hope', could of gone anywhere.hampo171 wrote:Of course it was hit and hope. Just give the credit to the strike from an international, quality player. Cabaye's scored nearly double figure goals from outside the box for us, but they are all luck, yeah whatever mate. Everton away two weeks ago.....luck. Villa away last season....luck.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Gerard's penalty was controlled, as was the young lads goal for your second anybody, which was a cracking finish for a young centre back with half a brain can see that, however with Cabayes they can end up anywhere and it as much look as technique that it ends up in the net. Always nice to see those goals, but there is a large element of luck about them.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Amazes me that a partnership of Terry/Cahill is not first choice. Okay, Jose wants a ball playing defender but the errors are outweighing the advantage Luiz brings to the side. I'd rather have a solid, reliable english speaking defensive duo, than a 'one mistake' per match defender, who basically only gives you a wonder goal every couple of months.
