Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Another tough game today for the Villa.
We just dont seem to perform at home, (man city aside).
Then there is the Martinez factor.
Done well with Wigan at VP.
The 2 Belgian lads up front should be interesting, although Tekkers may start on the bench.
Going for a 1-1 draw.

I see Palace are playing half a striker up top today. That's one whole striker more than Monday night.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
You won't see a cracking match of 3-2 like you saw Brighton vs Arsenal in the fa cup, at Selhurst Park today.
Already completely one sided game, Palace 3 man midfield of Jedinak, Dikagaoci and Guedoura im sorry that is just average championship midfield at very best.

I would more or less or surviving rather than playing well, because you haven't done much playing! You're fans are in full voice though, getting right behind the club, good on them, need to remember those players beat us 2-0, would of been the best night of there life.

The problem with pullis is he may play like this against teams like Brighton . This is the top team in the prem possession wise and probably quality wise.compelling and rich wrote:11 men behind the ball, like watching a pullis team this

Chamakh with a good ping, wow anything less than a 2-0 win for Arsenal should be classed as embarrassment.

tbf Palace starting to come into it, few shots on target. Although its not pretty, but they 100% need to stick this game plan and who knows on the break, dare to dream. But 100% stick to this gameplan, its working.

Its thoughts like that that saw you embarrassed by us in the Championship Nick. You play to the game, not just the same idea every game. Palace are second bottom, playing against a team who some would say deserved to beat Dortmund the other day. Set up your stall, be in the game, break when you can.
Arsenal have had ineffective possession. Good for them, its little to no consequence

Or our keeper was at fault for all 6 goals I remember that day good day out, was so drunk it clicked at half time we were 3-0 down! I just remember giving Rob Green a stupid amount of abuse, and lets say i got a few ch-omps from him!!! We couldn't cope that day.Dolphin Ziggler wrote:Its thoughts like that that saw you embarrassed by us in the Championship Nick. You play to the game, not just the same idea every game. There's more to football than being good on the ball.
There's also being good off the ball, and that's where Palace are doing well so far today. Now, as a consequence, they're starting to do better on the ball.

my tongue was firmly in my cheek with the 11 men behind the ball comment, exactly the right tactics against arsenal and palace are doing well.
it was just a bit of a wind up to all those saying they wouldn't want pullis because of his style yet will praise palaces performance here

Bannan doing well. Good to see him playing.
If we can keep it 0-0 into half way through the second half or go a goal down . Get gayle on that pace can hurt him.. Chamack doing a lot which is nice but he knows this team so expected .

Holloway would never have played this team..
Anyway . Win lose or draw from here , as long as we keep up the performance level it puts us In a much better position to get decent manager.. There is a glimmer of hope.

40 yards from goal, ball not under his control, touch taking it a little away from the goal and its a coming together foul rather than a lunge or trip

Red for me, professional foul knew what he was doing. No reason to touch him there other than to stop him getting a chance on goal

The reality is you can feel harshly judged because that sort of situation doesn't allways give a red. But the laws are clear.
And in fairness palace could have been level ...
Come on palace take advantage..

Chamakh could be goalside with only the crossbar to beat and I wouldn't consider that a goalscoring opportunity.

Reminds of the old story concerning Lancs batsman 'Little' Harry Pilling who stood at 5 foot nothing and was probably the smallest man to ever play county cricket. When an lbw appeal against Harry was turned down on the grounds that the ball was 'too high', the aggrieved bowler turned to the umpire and exclaimed, 'Too high?! If it had hit him on the head, it wouldn't have been too f***ing high!'.kingraf wrote:Chamakh could be goalside with only the crossbar to beat and I wouldn't consider that a goalscoring opportunity.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
He'll most likely be the reason Arsenal don't win anything at the end of the season. Yeah, might seem harsh on him but he's truly awful. I'm sorry he was appalling today, if it's not on a plate then he can't do anything. No pace either which at the top level just does not frighten anyone. You'll disagree & I know he's got eight goals but he is not good enough. It's going well so far but once the tough games appear & he's up against geniune quality defenders he will be anonymous.kingraf wrote:Love seeing guys like Giroud do well. Great effort by Palace, just no quality.

Chamakh fouled Arteta. The replay showed that chamakh ran into arteta and it was chamakh who initiated the contact.
