Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
First topic message reminder :
Am thinking of going in February for 3 or 4 nights, anyone got any advice about hotels, places to visit etc? Have had a virtual drive-round on google maps and it looks like a giant suburb.

You've got rid of Tino which is doesn't really qualify as ruining a thread.

True, but I'm the sort of person who slags someone off as soon as they leave the room and I was under the impression you were no longer participating in this thread.

What if the discussion moved on to giant wood beetles?

Yep, it's right up there with my book The Time I Was Walking From London Bridge To The BFI Along The South Bank And The Lace Of My Right Hi-Tec Came Undone Because I Hadn't Tied It In A Double-Knot But My Back Was Sore So I Couldn't Bend Down To Do It Up And Had To Get My Mate's Mum To Do It And He Said "While You're Down There, Mum" and 1416 other fairly lengthy stories.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
Firstly, no need to be so rude about my book.
Secondly, fish might not be particularly bright (apart from the ones that life at the bottom of the ocean where the light can't reach) but it's virtually impossible to drive a knife through their eyes.
Lastly, your question should've ended with a question mark, possibly even an interrobang.

It wasn't that rude. I could have said it was sh*t. That would have been rude.
Angler fish? Now they are the only ones I would consider as non-stupid.
It was more a reflective comment to myself, hence the lack of an interrobang.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
Galted, I won't pollute this thread with anything more sensible or relevant but, in a nutshell:
- Iceland is not expensive, just London prices;
- Easyjet now fly there which has halved the cost of getting there;
- To help us manage costs we stayed at Downtown Reykjavik Apartments (https://downtownreykjavikapartments.is/) which were really nice/good quality, 10 mins walk from town, sub-£25 a night, great for a group of mates as you can pre-drink in the lounge and use the kitchen for making breakfasts and dinners which saves a packet.
- Adventure activities are nuts, we used http://www.adventures.is/ - if you do, try get them to specifically get a guy called Halli Hansen, he's one of the most awesome people I've ever met!

It's alright in salads, its just sandwiches that cause a problem.
I have brought my own lunch in today. Two ham and cheese rolls with mayo. A packet of Walkers salt and vinegar crisps and a Taxi chocolate bar.

Beef Salad on wholegrain, packet of monster munch and an Alpen bar for me. Self made sarnie as always. Not particularly interesting but more fun than watching strongy, truss and mumbling cack insulting each other on the boxing board.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:It's alright in salads, its just sandwiches that cause a problem.

She's 122, no phone number I'm afraid as she doesn't believe in new-fangled b0ll0cks like phones and wirelesses. Can set up a meeting if you like, she's anyone's if you get a few bottles of gin down her, I normally whip the false teeth out before having a go.

I can never be arsed to make sandwiches so i took a roll out of the freezer and brought the whole slab of cheese with me. I figured if I take a bite out of the bread, then the cheese, it is the same experience without the hassle.

Re: Has Anyone Been To Reykjavik?
In case anyone's interested, I had a large chicken burrito from Wrap-It-Up and a small pot of spicy sauce. The best thing about it was that it was free as I'd had the card stamped nine times from previous visits.
A word of advice regarding the sauce: sometimes it doesn't pour well and has to be smeared by finger - if this is the case I would recommend thoroughly washing the fingers involved before touching your eyes, johnson or testicles.

Not sure mustard really goes with salad either, Jeff. Probably made the right decision. I like Pickled Onion flavour Monster Munch.
I have also eaten a Braeburn apple and a Nature Valley maple syrup breakfast bar this morning. Might have my sandwiches at 12:30 ish.

A Taxi is a biscuit, surely. It's not a chocolate bar. Mrs Superfly made my lunch today - salad and a special k bar. No crisps or chocolate. She's clearly worried about my expanding waist line.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:It's alright in salads, its just sandwiches that cause a problem.

It is described as Caramel Wafer and Rich Chocolate Cream covered in Milk Chocolate. But, on the other side of the wrapper it says it is Registered Trade Mark of United Biscuits (UK) Limited so you may well be right, super.
Oh and by the way, you're not having a salad for lunch. No-one is buying that.

Along with green tea and camomile tea it's one of my three favourite types of tea. Get all different types at work for free which is handy for tea experimentation and tea thievery.
I don't recommend the lemongrass, ginger and citrus flavour, it's sh*t.
