Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
yep betting is a mugs game especially if you cant afford it.
The amount is relative to the individual though.
I heard there are high profile footballers that have been getting PAYDAY Loans to fund their habits- These are footballers that could be clearing 40k a week!!
Bettings fun. But always stick to a budget you can afford.
no more that 5% of your earnings..

Vicky Pollard at Chelsea today. In the corner behind Ashley.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Great advice on betting, Mystir. Personally, I believe - use your winnings to pay for future bets, thus avoiding dipping into your personal income. Only works if you have a reasonable success rate, of course.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
My advice on betting is very simple:
Get all the cash you can get your hands on, and then lump it on England to triumph in Brazil.
A sizeable return on that investment awaits next summer.

O dear Nando should of scored
Lovely movement, he probably has the best movement of any striker in this league, but the shot was beyond dreadful. Great game so far.

1-0 Chelsea
Tap in for Schurle, goal made by Torres, he did so well there to create that goal.

Just checked the odds - currently 20-25/1 for England to lift the gold in Brazil. Might not be the worst advice ever given Duty... Won't do it, but decent odds nonetheless.
Chelsea win this, and I can't see them not winning the league

Some really good stuff from Chelsea in that first half. Torres looking very fizzy indeed.
City not really at the races yet.

On a betting note William Hill have Ibra at 9/2 to score two or more goals today.
Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
NUFC - horribly inconsistent, just a mess today - lucky equaliser really, although we dominated possession, we created nothing great. Dummett well out of depth, gouffran......did he even touch the ball, woeful signing. Cisse should be flogged. Just an appalling result, Sunderland are still dog••••.
Good to see Torres on fire, should be a good second half.

Gouffran transfer was 4mil I think and yet earn more than Giroud apparently. Interesting debate that Giroud vs Caroll but might need to put things into perspective. Is Giroud over rated? Well depend what you were expexting... A 12mil euro price tag doesnt give you a worldclass striker nowadays. However if you get a honest hard working striker that does the required job with a smile then you got a good deal. Now how much west ham paid for Caroll?

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Why did you spend £5 mil on him? he spent 18 months being utter rubbish at liverpool then went to west ham on loan and was very average for 12 months not scoring many goals.CF wrote:We paid too much for Carroll!! An over-rated waste of space!
Why did West ham then decide after 2 1/2 years of carroll being very average to spend 15 mil on him?

I don't believe Carroll is worth 15 mil because he just doesn't score enough goals. 24 appearances and 7 goals for west ham last year. Season before that at liverpool he played 35 league games and scored 4 goals.
Add to the fact that Carroll is injury prone. He missed a large chunk of the 09-10 season. Missed a chunk of the 12-13 season and has already missed all of the 13-14 season so far.

Also, Carroll gets seriously unfair flak. Players (not named Ibrahimovich) dont evaluate themselves. Can't hold his fee against him. He's been decent enough in the England set-up to make me think he is probably above playing for West Ham (absolutely no offence meant in that to Hammers).
To paraphrase basketball commentator Stan van Gundy, "If you compare his cost with his output, it's always going to look bad"

There's no point bringing any sort of objectivity into a debate with C_S aka Chris because he knows frak all about sport beyond what wikipedia tells him. Carroll was central to everything good that West Ham did last season, he brings others into the game like Nolan and while he doesn't score much that isn't why Allardyce bought him.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Carroll is worth every penny of the money we spent on him when hes on the field. Hopefully, the injuries dont keep coming, latest one is extremely unlucky. Im more depressed seeing CF post about West Ham, he is the definition of Poopie internet fan.
Carroll is a rather fantastic player. Better than Lambert, yet for some reason cos Liverpool overpaid for him it means hes a bad player. Theres no (proper) fans of football clubs he has played at that dont rate him.
On West Ham, good point today. Should have scored at least 2 in the first half. Swansea grew into it second half but dont look the team of last year, Europe is taking it out of them. All the chances were ours, happy to let them have possession in front of us. Only started having to hang on late on as players tired. Nolan is doing nothing to earn his place at the moment and is the only negative really. He needs Andy back as much as anyone else

It's not worth wasting time on. Its a preconceived opinion that cant be changed. I've seen him smash very good defenders to pieces, I've seen him beat midfielders with a deft touch and spin, score headers from outside the area with his own power and strike balls sweeter than any player in the Premier League. Theres very few other strikers in the Premier League I would rather have, none at Chelsea, Spurs or Arsenal definitely. Says a lot.

Carroll is a fantastic talent - at least he will be if he shakes off the injuries!
He's just a presence. Tall, strong, technically very good for a big man, and a cracking left foot to match. He also has a lovely array of deft skills in his inventory; touches, flicks, I even think I saw him do a Cruyff turn once!
Always feel he'll be part of a fantastic race for the England no.9 shirt with Sturridge for years to come. I remember that header he scored against Sweden at Euro 2012 - the sheer power of it!
Good to see Chelsea beat Citeh today - really hope Citeh don't finish top 4 this season. Tottenham have ground out another win. They're doing it without a fuss, much like Everton and Southampton, in the top half of the table.

Said Swansea were not gr8 this season, bony/michu combo has not worked n they are just forcing their play - no rhythm chopping n changing the line up with Europa games. Always catches you out.
Completely agree with Olly on Carroll. Thought he was brilliant when he played, yeah he's not majorly prolific but his general play n bringing out the qualities of other people/wingers etc n providing Nolan with another double figure goal tally of knockdowns is clear.
Hart/Nastasic
Can't wait for Liverpool/Arsenal - what a test Sturridge/Suarez against Mertesacker! Should be interesting. None of the big guns r out the title, we`re in blimin` October.
