Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
yeah meant to say that, his overall goals, i couldnt find any stats that gave the breakdown. but just as much as he might have bagged off the bench im sure he had many 15 mins cameos that didnt come to much at all which would also make his stats look poorer. the majority of those goals im sure came from starts, despite this super sub imagine he has gainedhampo171 wrote:Surely those stats are his overall goals though? How many of those goals where in games that he started? Personally I think he's a fantastic impact player, great off the bench but by him starting it makes the game plan predictable.compelling and rich wrote:its not whether he's a 20 goal a season man more his overall contribution to the team why we brought RVP in
think the fairest way would be to judge him on starts, in the prem
10/11- starts - 15 goals -13
11/12 - starts- 18 goals - 10
12/13 - starts - 9 goals - 10
think those stats suggest that if he started more games he would easily be bagging 20 a season in the prem, let alone all comps

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
He'd prob get 20+ a season, but the team wouldn't do as well. RVP has much more to his all round games and provides similar, if not more, goal output.
Really like Hernandez, just a real pity we can't get him into the side more regularly.
Interpret the stats with caution, he scored some off the bench whilst fresh and when we were pushing for winners etc.
Not seen movement like his in the box in a long long time, great thing for anyone wanting to appreciate movement or learn from to observe. If Berbatov had moved like this guy we'd have had some player.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
You know its international week when people have to start talking nonsense & questioning Hernandez's ability. RVP had to be bought, he was available & the best striker in the previous year. Fergie knew it & got him, huge psychological boost to United, major setback for City. Hernandez could bang 20 goals in his sleep at United playing 38 games. He is a classy finisher & box operator. RVP offers more rounded game, hence why he`s chosen, not because Hernandez is poor. Also, slating Javier for that bobble miss in Europe is just embarrassing. Don't know who it was but you also said it was in a Carling cup game, says everything about your knowledge of what's happening. As far as I'm aware Liverpool are out the cup because of.......Hernandez. Thank you & goodnight
Also for Mexico 35 goals in 50 odd apps....

He might not get 20 you know, but he'd definitely get upwards of 15. It is a bloody good job getting 20 goals in this league.
In terms of teams who could still prosper without their first choice front two.
Dzeko and Jovetic > Welbeck and Hernandez > Any of Chelsea's > the rest. Arsenal are limited, Spurs are worse and Liverpool arent in great shakes. So damn important strikers, as you can see from the fact that we'll go down if we don't get Carroll back by halfway or we don't get another good option in.

League goals I'd agree dolph, but if we are talking all competitions I'd say 20 is easily manageable.

True Hernandez is a class act and goals per minute he is well up there. Clearly becoming the new super sub(solsker)

There will never be a new Solskjaer, not until said player comes off the bench in a champions league final to score the winning goal.

Re: Barclays Premier League 13/14 Thread
Ok reading back this was all about would united be ok without the front two..
Although yes henendez and wellbeck seem a pretty amazing no 2 unit.
Where are the two king assisters!!
Rooney and RVP are a whole lot more than scoring goals, they do a big job for united.. They are not your typical goal scorers!
United have a gaping whole at CM which would be shown up with the no.2 strike force

I still think Owen Hargreaves was banging on about him way to much and probably deserves to never commentate ever again!
The coverage was way to Zaha centric. Oh look he tried that ,blah blah!
Oh if you take it round to many players they will take you out and get a yellow card!! er- if to many players do that there wont be any left!
He rarely had anyone to pass to!! and hargreaves failed to mentioned that he actually won bags of free kicks!

From what I heard Morrison did fine, Berahino looked class and Zaha was doing too much faffing again.

I agree Mat. Look at Zaha last season for Palace - considered to have a fair chance then for the World Cup squad, moves to United, now has no chance. Ditto Jack Rodwell, only he moved to Citeh.Mat wrote:I don't. Completely destroy his development if he did. I read an interesting article from the BBC website (tends to be rarer and rarer occurrence nowadays) - analysing what has been happening at Southampton FC and giving an explanation of their current success:

What a game to start the day off, I'd love to here why Dowd didn't send Merelles off though. That was a truely awful challenge, and even his consistent fouling in the second half wasn't enough for a second yellow.

Early contender for match of the season? Excellent merseyside derby. Everton should have won it with the amount of chances they hand but Mignolet played very well. Also, young Flanagan had a great game, stepped up big time.

Will Hughton see out the weekend as Norwich manager?
Sounds like a fantastic Merseyside Derby to kick the weekend off as well.
Interesting to note - Southamtpon could be top of the league at 5:00 PM. Southampton top of the league in late November? Well I never.

Purely because it was Suarez I always feel a yellow is deserved instead of a red, such a disgraceful player deserves what he gets. Well done Mirallas.
