He knocked out the boxer that was consider the division champion and had clearly beat Hopkins. You are the guy who has this 50 year old man at number ten in the world. Hopkins doesnt even deserve to rate ahead of Dawson never mind Stevenson the way things are at present.Reborn-DeeMcK-Reborn wrote:Didn't Stevenson only beat a fighter who was coming off the back of a KO to Andre Snored and got shown up by a nearly 50 year old man?catchweight wrote:I cant understand how Hopkins can rank above Stevenson on current form. Whats he done in the last three or four years? Points wins over two boxers that were knocked out by Cleverly and Stevenson and lost to Dawson. Hes living off reputation now.
I dont get how Klitschko can be rated above fighters like Rigondeaux, Bradley or Pacquiao unless its in a head to head match. Nowhere near as good a fighter.
Broner? He could barely beat Malignaggi.

And?? Dawson was still coming off the back of a loss, thats a fact. Not only beat, but beat up pretty bad and stopped. Doesn't make a blind bit of difference if it was in the weight division below...it still happened.catchweight wrote:He knocked out the boxer that was consider the division champion and had clearly beat Hopkins. And Hopkins not only beat Cloud, he beat him when he still had his "0".
So you would have Dawson who has been stopped and KTFO in 2 fights ahead of Hopkins who has beaten an undefeated champion and a mandatory in his last 2???
Come on Catchweight, don't be silly. Manny gets kept in these lists for previous achievements when he got beat twice in a row. BHop lost to Dawson then bounces back with a very good win and an ok one. That coupled with his title win BEFORE the Dawson defeat still keeps him around top 10. Its obvious you just don't like him so it would be wasting eachothers time carrying on this conversation. I think Iv put a sensible argument forward.

Yes Im going to have the man that beat Hopkins above Hopkins. Hopkins has done bugger all to show hes the best in his division for about 4 years, never mind one of the best in the world. Dawson beating pretty comfortable quite clearly shows he isnt. If it wasnt for Hopkins age and reputation he wouldnt be considered anywhere near one of the top ten fighters. He is 49 and in the last three years hes lost to the best light heavyweight hes faced and beat the mighty Cloud and Murat, proven ordinary fighters. And you have him as one of the ten best in the world.

He beat Pascal (who beat Dawson) not too long ago either... So you could argue he's at the top of the LH division.catchweight wrote:Yes Im going to have the man that beat Hopkins above Hopkins. I know Dawson beat Hopkins, but it wasn't a one sided affair to say the least. Since then, Dawson has massively regressed as well whilst Hopkins went on to beat Cloud who still had his "0".
However, if Stevenson goes onto dominating Bellew I'd put him ahead of Hopkins.
...... You really need to put up a top 15 though, you're in danger of disputing other peoples list without even vindicating what you perceive to be your personal top 15? Makes no sense to me as to why you would passionately debate a subject but not be willing to put the effort and thought in of your own P4P list?

Re: 2013 606v2 Top 15 Pound for Pound Rankings (please submit VOTES)
And what about Dawson getting beat by Pascal, you must surely rank Pascal above Dawson based on that logic. Then Hopkins embarrasses the man who beat THE MAN as you put it.
And also, Dawson only became THE MAN of the division with his win over Hopkins. Because before that was the Pascal fight. So lets look at it closer.
Dawson - last 5 fights - Loss to Pascal, NC with Hopkins, Beats Hopkins, TKO to Ward, KTFO against Stevenson....the main man has won ONE fight in his last five.
Hopkins - Draw v Pascal, Beat Pascal, NC with Dawson, Loses to Dawson, Beats Cloud, Beats Murat............3 wins, a draw and a defeat. The win and the draw coming against the guy who beat THE MAN.
How you can say Dawson ranks above him at this point is crazy.

I watch boxing and score my own fights. I had Pac battering Bradley. I also had Prov edging him.
JMM beat him on points by my scoring and then knocked him out in the follow up, which is why he is ahead.
As Union will testify to, silly things like Brad-bt-JMM-bt-Pac therefore Brad>Pac is a spurious exercise that results in Danny Williams > Ali.
Wlad is high due to his unblemished record, but beating nobody of note and man-handling his first credible challenger since Haye in a poor performance is not worthy of being ahead of people beating guys in the p4p top 5.

Oh dear CS. There is a difference between JMM being higher than Wlad.
He beat Pacman via Knockout, beat MAB, beat Pacman (in most eyes 3/4), has some good if not great names on his CV.
Wlad has beaten Haye and Fatty in the past decade. Yes he has dominated, but the division is sooooo weak. He is on my list due to his longevity and accomplishments, but he ain't higher than JMM.

Agree with you too ATG, if he beats Bellew then top 10 for me. But Catchweight claimed he goes to top 5. Not a chance based on his win over Dawson and 2 defences.

No I didnt claim he goes to top 5. Hopkins beat Pascal almost 2 and half years. Its scarcely relevant now. Dawson beating Hopkins MORE RECENTLY quite obviously proves Hopkins is neither the best in his division nor one of the best fighters in the world as Dawson himself was recently beaten by Ward and Stevenson who DESERVE to rank higher than Hopkins. Beating no marks like Cloud and Murat doesnt change that. Jesus Clevrly knocked out Murat and Stevenson made mincemeat of Cloud. Theres absolutely bugger all that says Hopkins is the best light heavyweight. He would need to beat someone relevant like Stevenson or even Dawson to have a claim.

His record up until recently has been very good and was a proper divisional #1 (LWW) but I can't help having him losing 2 out of his last 3.

Bradley - still unbeaten
'Bradley beat Manny' and 'Bradley still unbeaten' are totally irrelevant to me. I barely gave TB 3 rounds against Manny and had him losing his next fight too.
Same as I had JMM beating Manny on points before following it up with a lullaby-inducing ko in the next fight, hence why he is higher than Manny.

So If you thought Hagler beat Leonard you'd keep him at p4p number 1 !!!!
My premiership table has City above Chelsea........Because Chelsea had a soft penalty last week and WBA won..

Its a pointless argument at the moment. providing Stevenson beats bellew then Stevenson-Hopkins is in line for next spring. then we will see who the number 1 LHW is.catchweight wrote:If you were able to read you would know exactly what Im claiming.TopHat24/7 wrote:Well who knows what you claim when you refuse to post a list.catchweight wrote:No I didnt claim he goes to top 5. Why is Wlad as high as 4 and Mayweather 2nd ???..Don't see on Current form why he is so high on your list ??
and If it isn't current form.........Then Mayweather has to be above Ward !!

Dawson beat Hopkins almost a year and a half ago. One year makes it ok in Dawsons case when it comes to Pascal. Considering in the year and a half that Hopkins got beat Dawson has taken an absolute shoeing and Hopkins has went on to win a world title of an undefeated champion and beat his mandatory.catchweight wrote:No I didnt claim he goes to top 5. Stevensons win over Dawson would have been huge if Ward had't have roughed him up previous. And Dawson is fully to blame for that for agreeing to drop weight he couldn't afford to drop. It was a good win, but against a champion who got spanked to the point he should have got his LHW belt removed. Champions don't get bashed like that and still be called THE MAN.
Hopkins got Cloud first, Stevenson feasted on the left overs.
Murat was mandatory and deserved his shot...just like Bellew is getting. A win over Bellew is just as meaningful as a win over Murat. Both mandatories and nothing more.

The fact that Dawson beat Hopkins more recently is why its far more relevant than Pascal. Its really not difficult to follow.
Dawson > Pascal > Hopkins > Dawson > Stevenson.
You have to go back 2 and half years before Hopkins can realistically say he was the best in the division. He lost that claim when he lost to Dawson. And beating Cloud and Murat doesnt change that. Stevensons results and performances have also been far more impressive of late. The honus is on Hopkins to beat Stevenson to prove he is best. If there was only one proper title in the division Stevenson would be holding it.

If football banned draws and the pools panel got to pick a winner each time then there might be a semblance of relevance to your post. As they don't it's just the usual drivel.

maybe just maybe we should go by official results (even if controversial) when deciding the P4P list instead of basing the P4P list on who we 'think' won the fight.
