Sherman stuck the nickname Optimus Prime on himself, because Optimus kicks Megatron's ass.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Peyton's in a no win sitaution. If he wins it will be "why haven't you done it more, you choke artist". If he loses to one of the greatest defences of all time *based on a single year's performance they legitimately are, it's "he choked again". Got to love insane QB narratives, liek that one about how Colin Kaepernick was going to change the world or something like that.........
Sherman's earned the right to talk. One of the best CBs in the game (I'm biased with Revis but Sherman doesn't always stick to the number one, Sherman's a better ball hawk baits QBs into throwing the ball with phenomenal closing speed.)

Peyton choked last year apparently.
Not like his defense allowed a long TD pass in the last 2 minutes or anything

I can't get worked up one or way or the other about a Sherman rant these days - the guy has just become white noise to me. He is what he is - a good CB with a big mouth. You hear another one of his rants and you just think "Whatever dude".
Re Peyton and his supposed cold weather weakness - I'm not aware of the stats on this but he seems to have done ok playing in Denver which isn't exactly the Costa del Sol in the Winter months. Anyway, the average February temperature in NY ranges between -4 and 4... that's hardly "Green Bay" cold. Peyton will be just fine.

The NFL is considering abandoning the extra point and making personal fouls reviewable.

I think you can still go for two within that Pr4wn. I've always thought that given enough time a drop kick 2 point conversion would be easily coachable and probably as likely as converting a 2 point conversion in the grand scheme of things.

How about keep the 1 point conversion but make that a drop kick? I can understand why they want to get rid of it but not sure there will be that much support with fans/ traditionalists.Thomond wrote:I think you can still go for two within that Pr4wn. Maybe they could copy rugby and just have a place kick from in line were the TD was scored.

I say just move the kick back so it's a 35 or 40 yard kick instead.
My alternative suggestions:
- replacing the football with one of those cheap pound shop footballs that curl a million different ways whenever you kick it. Try getting that through.
- having one of the offensive line take the kick, and another holding for him.
- changing it to a crossbar challenge, so you have to get the ball off the post to score a point.
- change the goal posts to crazy golf style windmill holes, and have the kicker have to time the kick perfectly to get it through a giant Roger Goodell opening and closing his legs.

The extra point is a waste of time. Great decision. 5/1260 were missed last year.
Scrap the XP, if you go for 2 and fail you get 6.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
have i got this right..
a TD = 7pts
going for '2' and succeeding = 8pts
going for '2' and failing = 6pts
quite happy to see the PAT go, it is traditional but fairly pointless (excuse the pun )

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I take it then that the proposed attempt to run/pass it in would be optional? In other words you can stick with 7 and move straight on to the kick off or risk a point by trying to gain an extra one?
Makes sense I guess. PATs are dull but suppose you could also say if ain't broke don't fix it. I'd be up for the change though.

Let's get an update on that Browns coaching search (who don't have a HC, OC or DC right now):
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet
#Broncos OC Adam Gase has thanked #Browns for their interest but informed them they can move on with their search as he focuses on the game

Saw someone say earlier that if the extra point was proposed now, people would laugh at the stupidity of it. Pretty true really, it's a fairly automatic exercise 99% of the time.

I should have sold out on Broncos and Seahawks like RDuncan8 did. I'm still sitting pretty, but too much of my team is duplicated with RDuncan and a couple of those are on smaller multipliers for me to make a difference

Yeah its so tempting to bag the points in week 1, but you basically have to go for broke on Superbowl participants... especially if you think they will come from the wild card rounds

That's pretty insane ..
Interesting that the 3 best defences in the playoffs were all NFC. Is there any AFC defence in the same league?

He's got it good in Denver, bunch of quality WR's and an offensive line that makes sure he isn't touched most of the time. Plus him and Gase seem to have formed a good connection.
Would be silly to walk away now, unless he physically can't do it
