I would hope people take the bench into account - I do. If a team has a weaker bench than the opposition then it certainly has an effect on the match for me.
I have a rather long process for working out results:
1. Home side gets points for home advantage
2. each player is marked against each other, 0-0 for matching players, 1-0 for a better player and 2 - 0 for a complete mismatch ie. Christian Day v Victor Matfield.
3. each combo position gets a score, similar to the players score, positions being 1,2,3 - 4,5 - 6,7,8 - 9,10 - 11,12,13,14,15 - a good combo will beat two good players. For example Thion & Nallet as a combo will get a point but they might loose out on points against their opposition as individual players.
4. The pack as a unit and the backs as a unit then get separate points.
5. AND finally the bench. points for a full bench, points for cover in all positions and then each sub is given a point if they are imo an impact player.

Along with Foden and Easter he is the first name on the teamsheet for England
Holds the back 4 together with the balance he offers. frees up Foden.
