The Irish lads don't take themselves too seriously and are usually fairly witty with their wind ups which kind of draws people into the conversation. Every nation has its one eyed humourless posters but even the well known Irish ones appeared to behave themselves on that thread.
Don't get me wrong... I'm not saying that there aren't decent welsh posters, there are many decent folk on here.

Come on boys, you keep talking about this magical thread and great banter etc, but it must've just been one way traffic from the Irish guys as the alleged English banter merchants are not producing anything of note here. It's quite sad to see people keep mentioning it. Kind of like the dorky kid in school who think he's contributing to all the jokes the 'in' kids make.

mate the banter has been tried and then that old git Taff completely ruins the thread for everyone..
You have to watch yourself. Its a shame it is .
If Taff goes that would = a place that is only now tarnished by saint?
but then in all fairness they are the only wums that have been brave enough to come back after the 26-3 Defeat!!
So fair play. But Anyway its not really about comparing you unwitted welsh folk to the Irish lad's- its more about the fact that they have all gone missing!!
Dont you lot remember the Wales v England bickering place. Decent place it was, It was a laff.. We can make it work. Its just you cant have these idiots that think they are above other posters(the taffys of the world)

went back and checked and you were right about the england v wales odds pre-match in 2012The Saint wrote:quinsforever wrote:mate, try bringing some actual data or relevant information to the discussion rather than your very silly points.
in every match there is a favourite. in almost every match there is a winner.
statistically, even if the result is a 50:50 toss-up, the favourite wins 50% of the time.
and just to correct you on a small point, England i seem to remember were actually favourites at the 2012 match at HQ as BOTH teams were in the running for a GS, and Wales had NEVER previously sealed a triple crown at HQ.
but dont let facts get in the way of your ranting.
Oh pal, England were not favourites for the game at HQ in 2012. Nice try though . We were favourites for the Slam in 2012 and we got the Slam when you said we can't handle being favourites. What more proof that you're wrong do you need?

I'm going to the match on Sunday. In lower level east stand. Looking forward to it. The last time I watched an England v Wales match live the score was something like 66 v 26 to England. Fair play to the Welsh supporters they still beat us at singing in the pub after the game.

Wales may never win a Rugby World Cup.
But when it comes too singing they are a dam site better than the English that's for sure.
Even their national anthem is better than our English one. And that is with out a doubt.

2012 = bookies fancied Wales: from the link:
"Despite home advantage and the growing team spirit of the new look England, all the evidence suggests they are still some way short of matching what we know the Welsh are capable of. The sensible play has to be to back the visitors at 4/6 in the Match Betting market "
2014 = bookies fancy England 1:2 on
Saint.. you'll get a great bargain from the bookies this year on a Wales win 2:1 against. Get yer money on mon !

Me neither Saint. Just that I noticed lots of chat on here about 'favourites' .. 'Wales' blah blah. So interesting to check what the bookies said then and now.
You said you predicted same way the bookies did 2012 ?
Lot of money on Wales back then. Not so much now.

Re: England vs Wales 9th March
I couldn't call the Ireland game (thought the Irish old heads would probably be enough to edge a win, but it wasn't) and can't call this one either. I theeeenk the Welsh experience and kick up the behind from the Irish might just be enough - but then we have a good bunch of lads who seem to be getting their act together.
It's stating the bleedin obvious, but whichever side can impose their game plan will win it and I really don't know which side that will be. DO think it will be a cracking game and very close for at least 60 mins and probably the whole game.

There is no such thing as banter on this site, it has been removed by over moderation and we are left with a rugby forum where posters are unable to engage in a bit of banter for fear of banning.

Re: England vs Wales 9th March
The big problem for the Welsh side is grass - they just aren't used to it any more: Their wins this season have been at the Millenium and Stade, both of which are ice rinks. Confronted with green growing stuff they panic and fall apart mentally as they did so dramatically against the Irish. I reckon if we can get the green stuff waist high at Twickers the whole Welsh side would take refuge on their goalposts in a big red H, but I'll settle for three inches and a 60-0 England win.

Re: England vs Wales 9th March
That is the trouble with theory vs practice.
In theory we aren't supposed to get all sensitive and retaliatory, but in practice we do.
It is however how one handles one's sensitivites that ultimately effects our anility to remain mature and diplomatic in our responses.

The Welsh front row will love turf diving and rolling around on
Billie's lush green meadow on a spring day in London after the mud they usually get. Hope they can be got back on their feet long enough to play some rugby.

Way i'm looking at it right now, if Wales take an early lead then they'll probably win it as their confidence will go up. If England take the lead then Wales should have the experience to win still.
This England team have shown they can dig their way out of holes, but at the same time have dug their own graves a few times as well. Still not quite sure what we're going to get from them.

Have wales front row been outstanding ? Adam Jones certainly isnt the force he was.
Joe Marler still gets criticism despite being excellent so far this when is he going to get the praise he deserves? ...and Hartley has been outstanding...

Betting odds will always reflect the amount of money being laid down, as bookies look to maximise their gains (or sometimes minimise their losses).

Yes theyve been back on form, certainly last time out anyway cheating or not. They munched England last year, and this year England are potentially missing 3 props and have struggled through the tournament, especially in the last game.
Is it at all unreasonable to suggest its one area that Wales would be expected to have the upper hand? Does anyone think they will try and do anything other play for scrums and then play for penalties? Its like asking what Woodwards tactics would be against Australia.
