First topic message reminder :
Tbf this isn't the same Costa that's been playing for Atletico, a long hard season and a few injuries catching up with him here I thinkowen10ozzy wrote:Diego Costa for £32 million isn't looking to hot either...Chelsea could be looking at the 3 most expensive striker flops in history in Shevchenko, Torres and now Costa.
He lacks pace and mobility which for me are essential in the premiership.

Second time that Italy have been lucky not to concede a penalty.
Shut up Savage, you absolute twonk.

You're a professional broadcaster, Savage, or at least supposed to be, you aren't watching the game with your mates down the pub.
Shut the feck up.

I had to switch to the Five live commentary after 20 minutes, Savage was doing my head in. Don't know how anyone's managed to last the half listening to him.

If Costa Rica win, there is every chance that Uruguay may beat Italy as well and then we will see the two favourites out. Kind of wishing Costa Rica well right now.

Savage's bias against Italy is purely unprofessional.
And how are these linesmen getting so many offside calls wrong?

Superb defence from Costa Rica this half.
The wait that England will have to endure until they can go home is going to be a painful one. Dead men walking until Tuesday.

Italy have been dire today. They don't even deserve a draw. I bet Uruguay are jumping up and down about this result.

Italy woeful, we`re gone. Beat Italy with high pressure & contain Pirlo. I'd definitely say Uruguay can beat Italy.

Italy will get that last minute (or extra time) equaliser just to rub it in.

I am regretting not to have put any money on Costa Rica, the way the beat Uruguay from 0-1 down was very impressive and it is continuing today.

Columbia will probably be wondering whether to win their group. They will face Italy or Uruguay at this rate. Ivory coast coming runners up would face Costa Rica for a QF place.

Funny how the so-called expert pundits and football writers who are telling us all about England's problems are the same people who had Costa Rica down as the whipping boys.Lowlandbrit wrote:Anyone know what price Costa Rica were to win the group before the tournament?
Joel Campbell stays between the two centre backs. Sturridge drifted all over the place.

Will ITV show some guts and show a Uruguay Italy showdown?
Or do they "have" to show England on their main channel?

Re: Rio de Janiero - 2014 Fifa World Cup Thread
I've just been looking at England's record in every World Cup and Euro's we've qualified for. Of the 88 games we've played we've won 37, with a 9-9-9 record in the Euro's and a 26-19-16 record at the World Cup.
We've only ever won TWO games when going 1-0 down. The 66 World Cup final and the final group game vs Croatia in Euro 2004. Both were 4-2 wins.

I never thought either England nor Italy were one of the favourites. Maybe to get out of the group.

Right, so Costa Rica beat Italy and Uruguay.
Therefore, if England beat Costa Rica we're better than all three...right?
Which means England should go through on a moral basis!
I know, I know, I don't think we'll beat Costa Rica.
