He lacks pace and mobility which for me are essential in the premiership.
Tbf this isn't the same Costa that's been playing for Atletico, a long hard season and a few injuries catching up with him here I think

That bit of goalkeeping won't exactly dispell the match fixing claims against Ghana...

If Germany win 4-0, and the Portugal score stays the same, it goes to lots, I think!

Yeah...very unlikely!

USA will fancy their chances against Belgium.

Not sure that's a red card, definitely wouldn't be in the premier league.

I think the English media have hyped up Belgium a bit because the vast majority of the squad plays in England, we see these players week in week out unlike the Colombians or Chileans.

This South Korea team is rubbish, strange to think it wasn't all that long ago they were the next big thing.

Belgium-USA could be decent though, and Algeria would love a shot at Germany.

They'll buy Enner Valencia for that Olly.

I for once agree with Townsend, the South Koreans are a breathe of fresh air; no play acting, rolling around on the floor or dirty tackling, just go about things the right way.

Frustration against Algeria... This feels familiar for Capello!

Russia underachieve again.

Australia: W0 D0 L3 (4th place)
Japan: W0 D1 L2 (4th place)
Iran: W0 D1 L2 (4th place)
South Korea: W0 D1 L2 (4th place)

Combined total: No wins, 3 points, 9 goals scored, 25 conceded. Bad tournament for the Asian confederation.

can't see too many "upsets" (i.e. second-placed teams going through) in this round. Chile could just surprise Brazil, but I think Brazil will have a little too much. Uruguay without Suarez? Don't think so, Colombia have been impressive so far. I'm backing all the pool-toppers to go through. Boringly safe prediction, sorry...

Yeah Uruguay will find it tough without Suarez.

But think that will spur them on.
TBH, not watched Columbia, dont know to much about them.
Although they have done well so far.

Here are my predictions, for what they are worth

BRAZIL - CHILE... I have gone for Brazil only because I think there seems to much support from the ref's for them. Neymar (great player) will dive his way to a penalty (or win a red card) should Brazil need it. In short, I cant stand the Brazilian antics.

COLUMBIA - URUGUAY... I have gone for Columbia as I think that they have played some good football and Uruguay without Suarez will be lost.

NEDERLAND - MEXICO... Gone for the Dutch but it will be very close. Like Neymar for Brazil, Robben will pull some antics out should the Dutch require them.

COSTA RICA - GREECE... Cant see Greece going any further, a very limited team.

FRANCE - NIGERIA... France have looked very good so far so I can see them not having too many difficulties against Nigeria.

GERMANY - ALGERIA... Cant see past Germany, my pre tournament pick (Along with Nederland).

ARGENTINA - SUISSE... Argentina have not fired yet but I cant see them loosing this one.

BELGIUM - USA... The USA have played some very combative football and under Klinsmann look a much improved team. Klinsmann will work out a tactic to defeat Belgium.

Thought the USA were superb against Portugal yet looked tired, uninspired and leggy against the Germans until the 92nd minute. If they get their sh!t together, they could beat Belgium but maybe they've already shot their bolt

The US have had a very decent team since 2002.

Was disappointed with Russia. Totally lacked the spark they had even two years back. Capello really seems to suck the life out of teams once the tournaments begins.
Asian teams seem to have gone backwards. Japan and Korea were alot better in SA.
