If we can't beat Uruguay with a half fit Suarez, we don't deserve to progress

Availed myself of the 11/5 on Italy the other night/morning and 11/4 to Uruguay is too big as well. Fancy a few bookings/ a sending off to at over 2's.

Worrying signs for England...

No pace in the tempo..midfield standing off and not pressing again...and twice already Welbeck has been caught drifting inside leaving his man free to receive a diagonal ball.

This so called poor Uruguay having the better of the opening exchanges..

Rooney again! Shocking! Oh and Mr Welbeck the hard worker....again out of position when we lose the ball!!

This is dire stuff...no tempo...no shape...Uruguay comfortable and being given nothing to think about!

Still hopefully Duty.

Jag lost his man....Johnson stood off Cavani and allowed him all the time to pick out the pass...the England midfield failed to press to begin.

Catalog of errors from England.

We've had a good 5-10 minute spell and that's it.

Welbeck has done sod all...Rooney has again missed his best chance...apart from that don't think hee's been that good...given ball away on few occasions.

We have no pace in the middle....not utilising one of the flanks..

Roy needs to earn his crust here....Lallana on for Welbeck at half time.

No energy centrally. Sterling anonymous compared to being at 10 previously. Defence is a shambles vs quality.

In general, we`re too negative, typical Roy. This Uruguay side is terrible, they #### themselves against pace but we can't even threaten. Shocking.

He moved Rooney to 10 and moved Sterling wide, that's what happened.

Very disappointing first half after that Italy game...nerves seem to have taken all that fluency out of England tonight.
You just knew Uraguay were going to score.

Roy needs to do something at half time to turn this or around or they're on the plane  Sad

Glen Johnson is the most pathetic excuse of a defender

Not as good first half, Sterling not been good, Sturridge wasteful as is Gerrard.

And people are happy to keep Roy until 2016  picard

Performances aren't consistent, results are not improving. Honduras draw, Ecuador draw, Italy defeat, Uruguay losing.

This squad is young, exciting & needs to be given freedom. Roy is old school & his mentality is defensive. Mix is dire.

Is anyone really surprised?

England are an average team with average players.

Uruguay otoh are an average team with a world class player (even when he's not fully fit).

That's the difference.

We always blame tactics, poor selection, the manager etc, but the truth of the matter is that we don't, and haven't had, enough good players to mount a serious challenge.

The lack of good players is to blame.

No manager can change that.

4-2-4 is a stupid formation when our midfielders aren't connecting defense to attack. Particularly when we're so ponderous on the ball.

Haha....could you get 2 poorer throw in examples than that...our set pieces have been absolutely dire tonight. One decent corner from about 8!!

I've said the whole way through this England cannot play with 2 holding midfielders. It is completely detrimental to our style of play. We are so seperated in between the attack and defence.

Welbeck has been a non entity again! Gerrard has been poor. Rooney has once again failed to score his best chance...(Suarez takes his...shades of Italy again)..

I thought we should of dropped Rooney and I stand by it....he isn't sharp enough or in enough form. I think even in the 10 role he goes looking for the ball at the wrong times and it makes him easy to track and survey. Sterling showed how to play the 10 role the other night...compare that to Rooney and you cannot possibly argue that Rooney is delivering.

Roy cannot hope that Italy beat Costa leaving us still in it. He has to go for this game. We all know however he won't take off Gerrard or Rooney so it's going to have to be a case of Rooney being left on the whole time...Henderson coming off for Wilshere.

I want to see Lallana on at half time...and if nothing is happening within 15 mins of second I would bring off Rooney and put on Lambert...play Sterling right...move Lallana inside and play Sturridge left.

Sterling has not been good because he has been forced to play a different role (a role he played excellently against Italy) to accommodate Rooney who is woefully out of form...

Yeah referee bottled it, not an excuse though, England have been really disappointing, think Rooney has proved all the pundits backing him wrong.

Needs a change, whether that is moving players about or an actual substitution.

I am unbiased here as I am not English. Roy has accommodated a woefully out of form Rooney and it has unbalanced the side. Sterling was excellent against better opposition (Italy) playing the 10 role. Put him back there and let him shine.

In fairness Rooney has been better tonight...but Sterling has become anonymous...on balance no better off.
But the problem has been down the other end , surely ? Just bad defending...
