With England now being "OUT" OF THE RUGBY WORLD CUP. They clearly have nothing too lose.
SO all the players in the 31 who have not played a game yet should be given their chance.
The likes of Danny Care starting at 9 and Wigglworth on the bench.
Easter and Kruse, Slade etc etc.
what do you think.
What have they got too lose?
Nothing.

RFU kept touting my email account with wonderful ticket packages at just £200 a go. So glad I managed to resist their offerings.

Re: England v Uruguay
I'd play my strongest team and, if nothing else, look to get the biggest win of the World Cup. The current record stands at 65-3 which Australia B did to Uruguay. South Africa may run up a score against USA, but we should be looking at a 70 point win as a target. Play whatever team gives us the best chance of doing that.

Can Slade play 12? Slade and JJ could be fun to watch.

Re: England v Uruguay
Poor Uruguay. They'll be hit by all the release of built up tension, anger and sadness. If the sense of loss and bitterness lasts the 80 then it should be into the 70s, 80s or more.
Then again, maybe enough will be enough, and when enough tries are scored to quench a little of the fire, the players might go into themselves again and start feeling again 'the might have beens'.

I hope to see something such as below.
1.Mako
2.George
3.Brookes
4.Launchbury
5.Parling
6.Burgess
7.Robshaw
8.Easter

20.Haskell
21.Youngs
22.Farrell
23.Brown
Given it's a dead rubber I wouldn't risk Lawes if he is fit. Similarly with Morgan, although he played well in the first half, I still feel he is a bit off the pace and rushed back so I wouldn't risk him.
Elsewhere, I'd like to see George and Slade given a go starting. Watson at full back would also be interesting to see. Plus Nowell deserves a chance having not done much wrong to be sat on the sidelines. Given the struggles of the back row I think it's a decent opportunity to give Burgess a go at 6.
In the second row I've gone for Parling given that Burgess doesn't know what's happening in the line-out. I'd be just as happy to see Kruis there though and it would also give a Saracens axis if George is starting.

I'd start Haskell at 6. Feel sorry for the guy. Second WC he's been the form 6 going in and been inexplicably dropped for an under-powered donkey.

That would be buy far England's best centre pairing. With Ford at ten and care at nine. Nowell, Watson and Brown at the back.

Re: England v Uruguay
May picked up an injury so would expect him not to be risked. I'd love to see Watson tried at full back but because of that it'll be Goode. Would quite like to see Kruis and Launchbury together but the former will be under pressure to keep hold of his place come the 6Ns.

I wonder if this game would be their first try scoring game of the WC ?
England should be ok for this one though, Uruguay only have a 3 day turn around.

Uruguay play Fiji tomorrow then play England on Saturday, they have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to rest up. Three days, or two games in five days, how ever you want to look at it.

It was all part of the big plan if the group came down to points scored/tries scored. Give a semi pro side the shortest of turn arounds to play the hosts to help the hosts qualify. It's nice how things work out aint it.

if that's the case then the IRB really dicked us when the pools were picked.

Should England replace any of the injured players to give someone else a shot? Itoje in at 6, taking Lawes squad place. Burrell in for May to play at 12?
Re: England v Uruguay
Hardly giving them the best chance to shine even with the opposition.

I almost bought tickets for this. Thank god I resisted, that would have sucked!
Re: England v Uruguay
And I always thought the 3rd and 4th playoff was the cruellest match. Well now we have a new winner.
The England players somehow have to erase all the press from this mind. This game has nothing in the way of consolation or appeasement about it. They must go out there and play their best, fulfill their media commitments and then find a quiet spot to allow their wounds to fester.
There are no comforting words but life does go on. They are professional players so they must act accordingly. Character in the face of adversity is the only option sadly available to them.

Re: England v Uruguay
Bookies are getting a sniff that Burgess may be heading back to league.
This from NZ Herald:
This from NZ Herald:
Bookies believe that controversial English World Cup back Sam Burgess may be about to return to league in England.
Burgess, aged 26, is being made a scapegoat by some for England's early exit from the rugby World Cup. Many believed that Burgess would return to league with South Sydney, who he led to the NRL title last year.[/size] But there has been a burst of interest in placing bets on Burgess, who made his name at Bradford, joining Super League club Leeds. Sky Bet, which offered odds of 8/1 then 6/1, closed its book.
A SkyBet spokesman told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "We received a number of requests on our Twitter account for Sam Burgess to sign for Leeds Rhinos shortly before and after England lost to Australia. We've since taken the market down in case some people know something we don't."

Pure speculation George. I hope he stays in union and with Bath. It won't be long before he's playing as well as any back row in the league. We might even see him in the 6N's ?

Re: England v Uruguay
Absolutely - it's pure speculation. I hope that he stays too but that sanity is restored and he is played consistently at blindside, where he could be immense.
Imagine for a moment a loose forward trio of 6 Burgess 7 Armitage 8 Vunipola. Just imagine it. England needs new coaching staff pronto. And that's not being reactionary - there are simply better times ahead for England.

Re: England v Uruguay
Uruguay play Fiji tonight then England on Saturday.
Wow!!!
Only three days rest to play teams ranked ten and twelve places higher than them. Seems remarkably unfair on Uruguay and increadibly kind on England.
World rugby seriously need to re organise the down time between games because it is ridiculous to expect any team to be even vaguely competitive in both fixtures, especially one with so few resources.

I think there's little difference between the teams ranked 8th-20th and on their day they can all beat each other

Yes but the higher ranked team having seven days rest compared with the lower ranked team getting three is ridiculous.
This is the worst fixture arrangement so far in the tournament. And in the favour of the hosts.
If England had been able to remain in the chase at this point it would have given them a huge advantage to gain points.

Why not pick slade and Joseph in the centre. They look like your best combo...!
Doesn't really matter who you pick, poor old Uruguay will be luck if they can keep the score under fifty what with this game being played three days after they play FIji
