Summer Transfer Window
First topic message reminder :
Sunderland are apparently on for will Buckley again this weekend. Another one from Brighton.
Also after Nacer Chadli from spurs and Jonas from Valencia - along with still trying to persuade fabio borini.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Don't really see the point in Rojos. I'd prefer (and I really hope we still do) sign Blind and bring through Blackett. He looked ok at the world cup but very dodgey in defence. Also, after hearing Benatia is available and us not even putting a bid in is absolutely crazy. Top class cb, yet we're not interested??

You don't see a point in Rojos when you plan to play 3 at the back and the best 3 are Evans, Jones and Smalling?

My argument is that he isn't really a great improvement on the current cb options. Anyway, its not a disaster, he's a cb so its a position we need and has just been to world cup final. Hopefully he's not the only argentinian on his way!!

If that happens it could be one hell of a transfer window for us!

Well he can play centre back and left back so offers versatility but Blind seems like the better option to me, there's going to be a lot of movement in and out this week.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
i thought rojo did alright during the world cup, there wasnt many great defences at the world cup germany (minus merte) and argentina were the best. looked very comfortable on the ball , something LVG will be looking for and was asked mainly playing fullback to get forward and support in that argentina team as hardly any teams went at them
still thinks its a shame garay has gone to russia on the cheap, he looked easily argentinas best defender

I thought Blind was quality. That pass to RVP was one of the highlights of the tournament for me. Rojo looked handy too.

Personally aside from that pass for RVPs goal my only memories of Blind were his constant fouls
Dont know much of Rojo
Away from United Fjortoft has just tweeted that a deal may be on between chelsea and PSG with schurle going one way and Cavani heading to the Bridge

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Load of nonsense from Fjortoft. He's worse than Balague. Yeah, let's get rid of Schurrle (who shone in the WC & who Jose publicly stated would be even better in his second season in the EPL) for Cavani, who's a total flop recently & isn't even that good. Chelsea play one up top, where does he play with Costa? Nowhere. Nonsense tweeting.
As for Rojo, nothing special. Blind, for me, would be the more suitable signing. Plays multiple positions, good technically & will play his heart out for LVG.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
If Blind was that good LVG would've snapped him up already, hardly hard to get from Ajax he's basically said he wants to move
One pass and everyone thought he was the dogs Love sacks, he's like the Dutch Phil Jones except worse

Blind was the official Eredivisie player of the year last year, it's not all just about that cross.
Rojo is also versatile, plays both CB and LB.
I can actually see both joining

Good player but hes been hyped to the moon lately. I always have warning signs when a player is described as versatile

It's the way it works for any team, the fans of the team he's linked to will rate him but those who dislike said team will do everything they can to discredit him.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Anyone who thinks Cavani 'isn't that good' currently knows nothing about football.
Cavani of vastly more talented than his psychotic country member Suarez.
Look back to Cavani's time in Naples. Absolutely fantastic.
PSG was never going to work for him. Zlatan is the boss there.

Cavani is pretty average. He's been terrible for PSG, shocking misses in the Champions League, even worse in the WC for Uruguay, when they needed him to step up. Serie A record was good but, let's face it, Di Natale still bangs about 30 a season & he's an OAP.

Cavani isn't anything special at all Gerry, as for talent he is a long way below Suarez.

Much prefer them Liverpool, Chelsea etc
Just don't think Blind is anything more than average, and I don't think he'd be a good signing for Utd

I like Cavani, he's got a real work ethic, two footed, decent in the air, an eye for a pass... Long hair... but he's no Suarez.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
Have to admit I'm a Cavani fan myself, think he'd fit in very well in the Premier League. Very different type of player to Suarez so hard to compare the two but Suarez is just an exceptionally gifted footballer, Cavani is a slogger who makes the most of his lot.

Part of me assumes that's either Vidal or Di Maria, can't see Rojo or Blind being regarded as a big announcement.

Olympiakos' centre half Kostas Manolas has been left out of their squad to play Bilbao tomorrow. Di Marzio says he's going to Juventus. Goal.com reckon Arsenal are working on a deal to bring him to London.

That's a fair point regarding his contract. Didn't his missus hold up the move as she didn't fancy moving from Birmingham to Hull? Not sure she fancy uprooting again so soon.
