genius run from Hazard, and a coolly taken penalty. Chelsea haven't been at their best, but they lead. Chambers could be in for a long afternoon here.
Wilshere! terrible first touch, Arsenal should have been in there. On a side-note, welcome back Petr!

I think this sort of game is what you would call "ill-tempered" (i.e. both teams kicking lumps out of each other). Chambers is maybe lucky to still be on the pitch, while Oscar not being booked yet is something of a minor miracle...

Amusing to think that, despite all United's troubles, they are in the top four and ahead of Arsenal and Liverpool. David De Gea was immense, a colossus, and Van Gaal can comfortably attribute at least two points to his world-class keeper.
Everton are hovering just above the drop zone; how soon before this becomes a real problem?
And Chelsea beating Arsenal at the Bridge is one of the sure results of the season, so no surprises in this game so far. Chelsea already have one hand on the league, I feel.

Utd have played 6 diddy teams and Everton so far, I'd have expected them to be top 4 anyway. If they're still there after the next 3 games (Arsenal, Chelsea, Citeh) then I'll pay attention.

See Welbeck's back to his usual quality. No doubt he'll score 2 hat tricks against 9th tier opposition and pundits will be raving about him again.

Arsenal were a little unlucky not to get the penalty, which would have changed the complexion of the game. On balance though, Chelsea were pretty efficient.

The praise for Welbeck after one game was disproportionate to his actual ability, he's a fantastic player at times but he'll never be a top class goalscorer. I understand everyone in the media wants him to succeed because he's English and was sold by us but you had Mark Lawrenson proclaiming he was going to be a world class centre forward earlier today.

Ozil was awful, agree. I thought Arsenal were an improvement on last year (not difficult I know): they certainly fronted up, but when they got to the final third it seemed too much like same old Arsenal, over-complicated things and lacked a cutting edge.
Chelsea weren't at their best, but were worthy winners. Hazard's moment of genius (I would certainly have him up with the three raf named as the top PL players so far this season) unlocked the situation, and Arsenal never really looked like equalising (Cech barely made a save). In some ways, this win was more reminiscent of Chelsea under Mourinho before: very solid at the back, and good enough to grab a couple of goals to ease to victory.

Easy easy performance, great to see us just to take control of a game and be calm on the ball. Sakho and Valencia work so hard and are a constant threat. Song absolutely bossed the midfield, Downing's passing is wonderful and it was just a professional performance.
Di Maria is the best player in the league, definitely.

Dortmund away last year I suppose.
They smash lesser teams up like no other team. But when it comes to the big games they seem lightweight.

Well, I feel like celebrating the fact that we didn't lose 6-0. But seriously, the gunners are still not in Chelsea or City's class. To me Chelsea looks like a team that could pull the league and CL double. They improved themselves more than any club this summer and had as much to work with to begin with. Costa and Fabregas are absolute beasts.
Wenger needs to stop playing Ozil wide. He plays very well for us as a number 10 and is just awful as wide man. We paid the price for not getting another quality defender. So far this season Chambers hasn't done poorly but he had awful match last night defensively and gave us nothing going forward either. I think this Arsenal team will get better and has closed the gap a little between themselves and City and Chelsea. But there is still a pretty significant gap. We got through what should be our toughest fixture of the season with a predictable zero point but we have already played City, Spurs, and Chelsea early on and should be able to kick on from here.
Welbeck is a good signing for his price tag and I think he will become a quality and consistent premier league striker. I wish we had more cover at the back and hopefully rumors are true that Kheidra is all but set to come over in january. If we don't reinforce in january we may struggle for the 4th place trophy.

Personally, I hope Chelsea draw Madrid soon in the CL. Would be such a clash of styles. The rigidity of Chelsea vs our Devil may care, stick eleven guys on the field and ignore all tactical principles would be rocking.
I can't see Chelsea winning the Champs League though. It's a little different continental. I'd say Bayern are probably favourites. Lewandowski will come good, and Like Pep once said, if you don't have the ball... how can you score?

You misinterpretred my point. In fact praise could also be given to him for his work rate. I was just pointing out that world record match. It was an amazing amount of deliveries to miss with. However kudos to di maria because eventually it was him that won the game in the end through sheer determination even if his eye/feet coordination was out for most of the game.compelling and rich wrote:The Special Juan wrote:mystiroakey wrote:The Special Juan wrote:Di Maria can do something few players can do these days which is cross the ball. I don't know KR, I am taking Chelsea in the CL. The big 3 of Barca, Real, and Munich are there and wouldn't be surprised if any of them won the thing. But I feel like Chelsea has the most balance and a big game manager. Real, the champions look very impressive as well. But to me their defense is still a bit dodgey. Also I think Barca will have something to say about it as well once Suarez comes into the mix. An attack with Messi, neymar, and Suarez is freaking scary.

Chelsea + Costa and Fabregas is some thing pretty special in it self. and certainly the 4th best team to cope in the CL.
I would like to think they could get a significant more amount of possession than in recent years against the top 3.

Considering Chelsea were a stone's throw from winning league last year adding those two players and not really losing much of value along with the best goal keeper from la liga has made them in my opinion head and shoulders the runaway favorite for league. And frankly, I could see them beating any of the continental superpowers especially with Jose's qualities in big matches. He is an unlikeable jerk but no one can doubt his quality as a football manager.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
Really enjoying the Premier League so far, a lot of teams seem to have taken a step in the right direction with their philosophy and style on play. The use of pace and more pressing combined with work rate is making for some fascinating matches.
No surprise to see QPR left behind and the worst team in the league. Harry bought wrong and the side offers little threat to teams, especially on the counter. Even yesterday he took off their one dangerous player in Hoilett and the build up had no edge to it.
Same goes for the Toon and Burnley. Newcastle won't scare anyone with their attack and Cisse is going to have to maintain his poaching form if they are going to go up the table.
Burnley are without their two key men and it hurts their style a lot, especially with a thin squad already.

I don't know if it's because Utd won't this season be pushing for the title but I don't feel the usual anomosity towards Chelsea that I usually feel and Id prefer them to win the title over other contenders (although it only appears City are rivals)
