We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
I know it's not premier league related, but I was just reading that both of Scunthorpes goalkeepers suffered broken arms in today's game.

What a win for the gunners, mike dean you pasty gollam looking mfer I could almost nut on your bald dome. For once in his miserable life he gives a call.
Ramsey was majestic as usual in the central midfield. Oh santi cazorla with a goal and an assist. John's favorite striker dominated Kompany like a drunk office girl at the Christmas party.
Did City create anything? If we defend like that all year long we will actually win something. And Wenger made some good subs at the right time as well.

And your comeback is completely irrelevant, Ramsey was out shown by every other Arsenal player but your love for him knows no bounds.

16 corners or something- but not much with them- the deliveries where pretty poor

I frankly haven't seen City look that impotent in the attack for a long time.
As for Aaron, he played well didn't create a goal or score one but he was a settling presence when he got the ball in midfield and along with a surprising Coquelin cleaned up the midfield. Yes City had most of the possession but Arsenal had all of the chances. Santi was a monster and keep Ospina in goal. He didn't have much to do but at least he didn't terminally explode like Scz has recently.

Haha, made quite a bit of money on United during the 13-14 season betting against them habitually. Pre season of it made a tidy sum, betting 12/1 against United when they faced the Asian Supersquad, or whatever it was, then 13/1 on City losing to a local team... Rarely dabble now. The winnings dried up and I'm not one to go to the well too often.

i made some decent money on United 12-13 season backing them after going 1-0 down.. they kept coming back and winning.
I am also a little pit peeved off- as i stuck a tenner on palace at 2-0 down yesterday at 20/1 and for some reason it didnt match but i thought it did!
I have been betting less and less over the last year- yet i am actually up for once(quality over quantiuty- from a 400 pound budget a month i now only bet about 100 per month- times are tough!!)

City were my ticket to the big win, and I only needed them to score to make back my losses on them. couldnt do it though. Thankfully I'm up from the saturday.
Ramsey was poor in my eye. Coquelin is the one, not sure how its happened or where its come from but he is much better in there than Flamini. Also thought Cazorla was incredible, motm for moi.
City should have played Dzeko and really they dont show a man of his quality anywhere near enough respect.

After watching Arsenal just play City off the park all I can say is we better call 999 now already for the ra*e at the Amex stadium next Sunday. Why I've spent 32 quid on top of season ticket, I'll never know. Playing footy after so can't even drink myself stupid

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
I can safely say the scoreline doesn't reflect the balance of play for City. They had much more of the ball, but they weren't the better team. They were slow, the only threat they possessed really was Navas and Zabaleta down the right side, especially in the first half. They were trying to work something and were looking to be quick with their play. But the rest of the City team were too slow with the ball. As much as Arsenal changed their tactics to hit on the break, City made it easier for them. A lot easier. Arsenal set up the right way but when City play like that, you would probably expect them to be beaten and rightly so.
Arsenal had the pace and movement to get at City on the break. I'm not sure but was Walcott injured again or just left out? If he was left out I was surprised to not see him in that team today just because of his pace. But obviously Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlin were enough. Cazorla was top class through the middle. Creative, quick and caused problems all day fro City. Fernando looked like he was struggling to keep up from 70 minutes onwards with him. Sheer class from him and something City needed from Silva. Could this spark a Cazorla vs Silva debate? I don't know. Giroud was too much for Demechellis who was error prone as he was last season for City. Poor from City today. It's not that they miss Yaya Toure (although you could see the difference he has), its just they needed some quality and tempo to their play today and they didn't have it.

Dzeko. When you're being forced out wide and a team is playing deep, bring on someone who can cause disruption and a target at crosses

We lack pace and with Toure gone "X Factor players" that can produce a moment of magic to lift the team........Silva and Aguero are the only two players with that gift at the moment and Arsenal marked them out of the game..
The rest are workmanlike and it showed !!...........Thought it was a soft penalty but can't complain about the result...

It seems sad to me that City have two central midfielders who Arsenal were happy to let have the ball. You give that treatment to centre backs and Fellaini usually, not the midfield of the champions

For all the money City have spent they have yet to dominate a season. Their first title was won when Utd somehow managed to waste an eight point lead with six games to go. The next season they lost the title by trailing Utd by eleven points. Last season, I thought Chelsea threw it away.
It would be no surprise to me at all if City ended up trophyless this year.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
The problem is that the last truly good signing they made was in 2011, four years ago. Aguero, Toure, Silva and Kompany still are the spine of the team to the extent that they struggle when any of them are missing.
Fernandinho was a pretty good signing, but hasn't hit last year's form at all. Negredo went off the boil. Demichelis is far too slow and inconsistent. Jovetic has been injured too much. Navas is too one dimensional. The 12/13 signings were all awful.
How a club with such financial power and now the pulling power of Champions League and the chance to win league titles can so regularly make poor signings is ridiculous.
Toure is now hitting his 30s and will drop off badly soon with his game relying so heavily on his athleticism. The issue with Aguero is if he can get over his injuries, you feel that Real Madrid or Barcelona will come sniffing along. Kompany is not the rock he once was and David Silva whilst a great player isn't a player who drags City from the brink.
They need a really good transfer window, and FFP cannot be an excuse.

To be fair to Silva, when Aguero was out and they played with no striker the Spaniard absolutely carried them.
They need Mangala to come good, Kompany is extremely talented but I don't think you can be perfect when you don't trust anyone you partner with.
Bony will add a dimension, and you have to say Fatty has been a very shrewd signing. I hold out no hope for them getting a good midfielder in though, they're behind United, Arsenal and Chelsea when it comes to ball playing central men.
The sooner they revert to a diamond in midfield the better

Typical Pulis set up, good point.
Everton 1 win in 13. Awful & clearly now a divided dressing room to an extent with Miralles.

While there will be an obvious link, I do think that this is not necessarily true. Burnley seem to have very good team spirit despite losing a lot of games. I do think it can make a difference as well.

Yes it is.
Teddy sheringham and Andy Cole hated each other and played together every week in a title chasing side, would barely speak to each other outside of old Trafford
By all accounts team spirit was excellent, it's a myth pedalled by managers with nothing elae going for them.

Team spirit is as a whole though, and in a football squad its unlikely that a spat between two players over not shaking hands would have an effect.

They despised each other.
As have many others. He'll some of Capellos sides hated him.
Listen to any manager under pressure or under performing - we've a great team spirit down here.
No you don't - it's a lie. Win a few games and everyone is happy.
Mirallas hung out to dry due to "team spirit" - as if he missed on purpose.

Mirallas will be hung out to dry because he went against team orders, always let your number 1 penalty taker take the penalties unless it's clear the games won or he's not playing. Team spirit is a huge thing, and anyone who has played team sports knows that.

Again none of that has anything to do with team spirit, it's not about being friends or liking the manager, it's about going out and performing as a unit.
