We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
I know it's not premier league related, but I was just reading that both of Scunthorpes goalkeepers suffered broken arms in today's game.

Is that Matic suspended for the Captial One Cup? Chelsea 1-1 Burnley. I fear, if Chelsea drop points, City will hyped for a demolition job on us at 5.30.

Double over United. Barcelona lost... Basically the perfect footballing day. Now off to a party and I expect to come home with Agüero leading the golden boot race to top it all off.

Dzeko and Aguero upfront for City then, can't claim a lack of match fitness for Bony.

It's why he made the goalkeeper sub, not to be clever but had they lost, everyone would be talking about that decision.
Exactly, the goalkeeper sub is just nonsense. There is a time where it will work and other times where it doesn't, you can't be a manager like that.
You're missing the point entirely, it wasn't nonsense at all, it took all the pressure off his team and put it on to him, had they lost then his ability would be questioned not the teams.
Oh yeah, he takes all the pressure off his team. To put it bluntly, you are just talking such a load of bullshít mate if I'm honest. He's just a poor manager, he's "genius" long ball tactics to Fellaini and unattractive football has much to be desired after this performance. Rather than trying to defend him with any old sh@t, just admit his style of football is poor and the results through United's quality don't always come. That's the only reason United are as high as they are, Moyes couldn't handle the quality and Van Gaal can, I'll give him that, but that's all I'll give him after what I saw today.

Always think for a player like Bony, who given the chance will score you goals you take that risk. Players are good enough to put the ball in the right areas and Bony is good enough to be there.

Matic shouldn't react like he does, just asking for trouble, but Jesus Christ. That's a horrific challenge from Barnes.

Well considering how many results they have gotten this season that they, IMO, didn't deserve, I'm glad to see a reversal of fortune. Plus any of the top 4 chasers slipping up is a positive for Liverpool.

I beg your pardon, who do you think you are talking like that, tone it down you insufferable fool.
There is a strong difference between a long ball and a long pass, one is aimless the other is directed towards a player, we do the latter in the latter stages of games. For 75 minutes we were passing Swansea off the pitch and only profligate finishing stopped us winning convincingly but quite clearly you did not actually watch the game and are going by reports of the game which you seem to do a lot. Strange how you seem to watch games that are happening at the same time each and every week.

LVG has one job and one job only and it's a simple pass or fail. Top 4 = pass. Worse = fail.
So IMO although I am not enjoying the football man U play. I will judge LVG at the end of the season, just like everyone will. It's a results business.

LVG is far from a poor manager, you don't have a career as successful as he's had if you're a poor manager.

The media has fully bought into the bull**** LVG is spewing, and acting like hes a visionary for saying it.
Its like Mourinho always playing mind games when hes being a bell end in press conferences on a larger scale.

Its quite easy though when you are doing it with top players. I've said it about United this year, I'm not so sure its Van Gaal's philosophies that are making United better, just the fact they are going out there to play and their quality is showing them threw games rather than Van Gaal's philosophies.

If it's easy to win with top players why do managers ever fail at big clubs?

Exactly, can't just say it's easy at big clubs because too many managers have tried and failed.

I don't care who I'm talking to. I'm assuming its an average human being, nothing special.
There is a difference, but I'm afraid United don't have one. Stoke and West Ham play long passes, United don't. The difference is, like you said, United do it in the 75th minute of games, that's the problem. Instead of sticking to their passing philosophy to open teams up, United panic, send Fellaini up top and just pump I in the box hoping for a lucky break and against West Ham, they got one (and West Brom away). Its not good football, its panic football and if teams are capable of dealing with United like they have today, United will struggle to pick up any points, nevermind just one point away from home.
