It's not a red in any league, You can tell Mourinho after the last game where he moaned about aggresiveness told the players to surround the ref asap as a tackle went in.

Yea jumping up and down like he got shot, watched a premier league gold match earlier where that challenge would warrant nothing more than a telling off. It was a painful one but Ibra is looking at the ball and just get's there after , not only do Chelsea play ugly football, a moany manager but are just a bunch of complete hypocrites when it comes to "dirty play".

It's why Chelsea are and always will be the most despicable club in English football, they have no redeeming feature.

Ref bottled that one. Probably making up for the red.
Re: UEFA Champions & Europa League 2014-15 Season Thread
I don't see how that makes up for being a man light tbh on the basis that even you if scored a pen it changes zilch as PSG still needed to score an away goal anyway.

The more I see that tackle the worse the red card is, barely makes contact if any, clearly pulls his legs back to avoid contact but the scum react like they're coming under artillery fire.

Clear red for Zlatan under the interpretation of modern football - he went in to the challenge off his feet and two-footed. Always a red, these days.
Other than getting that correct, the referee has been poor. No real control of the game, late challenges and sly elbows going in all over the place. Missed a clear penalty.
Oh yeah, and surely more reds on the way. Luiz and Verrati are out of control, Costa has a short fuse.
Still, watching Hazard outclass the PSG defence is always fun.
Chelsea should ease their way through, but PSG may sustain hope on the break.

Oscar gets to the ball first. When Ibra realises that he tries to pull out of the tackle, but does still catch Oscar's leg. Yellow would have been understandable, but red is just a terrible decision.
Since then, the ref has completely lost control, Luiz should be off, Chelsea should have had a penalty, and how Verratti is still on the field (let alone not even been booked yet) is a mystery.

You're just wrong, under no interpretation of the laws is that a red card.
Was it reckless? No
Did it use excessive force? No
Was it careless? No
He clearly pulls out of the tackle, makes barely any contact and because of that it is a no to the only three questions that matter.

Oscar's left foot was planted when he went in with one foot, fairly.

Only thing on the ground here is his hand when he connects with Ibra

Duty just stop there because you've made yourself look daft. Was never a red card and Oscar went in with more force and in a more dangerous way.

Was it reckless/careless? Yes, hence why Zlatan tried to pull out, albeit too late.
Excessive force? Indeed, went in with two feet.

Well, ideally, it would not be a red card.
But this is the modern game, and you shall always get a red for such a challenge, these days.
Not ideal, but the way it is.

In short English team in Europe benefit from an awful decision so you feel the need to defend it, the picture Nando has posted clearly shows who was in control and who wasn't.

MFC analysis is spot on in my humble opinion. Ref lost control of the game and the end result for the viewer is appaling. Shame as I was looking forward to this game.

You do it every time Chelsea play in Europe, you can deny it all you want but you're in the minority of one and you are wrong.

Re: UEFA Champions & Europa League 2014-15 Season Thread
You can use a snapshot to prove anything you want. Had a debate on a hockey forum about a player criticised for not tracking back, one guy had a snapshot of a certain second where the player wasn't in frame and could be called "too far away to get there in time", I posted a snapshot of the a later frame in the exact same second and the player clearly had time to get there.
In short you can make a snapshot for every argument.
I'm not defending the red but Oscar did get the ball and this is a European tie. We all know cards are sometimes dished out easier in European games than in the Premier League.

Do I?
John Terry deserved to be sent off at the Nou Camp and...er...not much else controversy springs to mind.
Anyway, seeing as the referee has produced a red, I'm clearly not in a minority of one.

Wouldn't count PSG out of it yet, often 10 men can surprise. Get one goal and it will be very interesting.

Also Bayern 4-0 up, said it the last few years but it is very hard to look past them to win it. If they do, it will be interesting how long Guardiola sticks around, if he wins everything he can at Bayern, he might fancy a new challenge in a new country. Manchester City springs to mind.

Indeed. Still think Bayern are favourites this year. Real Madrid and Barcelona have both had poor runs this year and neither appears to have really put them behind them. Chelsea will battle through but think they lack the quality needed.

Ibra was in control, Oscar was less so, but Oscar was first to ball. Ridiculous red though, nonsense decision. Mourinho should be getting fined a lot more for these comments he makes in the press. He plays the game.
Cavani to me was unlucky. Courtois reads where he'd shoot, Cavani has to go round him, a little wide and onto his weaker foot. Fine margins with that shot hitting inside of the post.

The "campaign" is domestic. It's been proven by a few papers using stats that we get fair to favourable in the Champions League.

They're tired. Mourinho's use of a small squad coming back to bite him.
If they do get through this now, they've been quite lucky.
