The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
First topic message reminder :
Daddy long legs are a nightmare for cricket groundsman. Their larvae are called Leatherjackets feed on the roots of the grass and can devastate the square. Season is done but the crows are digging up the bastards on my square at the moment.

Pool surrounds and garden is looking great.
I had trouble getting the right guy to do the final finish for the pool. He's booked out until January but said he would see if he could get it done before then if someone cancels.

I'd have thought you could fill it up with water yourself TLD
Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
Sorry Rickotash didn't see your message. All's well here thanks, quiet with hints of rain but nothing substantial. Boring as feck though. Might go to London for no reason whatsoever.

Filling up with water no problem. Just the pebble render bit needs to be done.

I thought Carlo Ancelotti was ancient. Heard on the radio this morning he played in Italia 1990.

I was stuck on a Greek island (Samos) when that was on.
Remember being totally smashed and wandering around aimlessly on the outskirts of some village when I saw the light (from a TV) from a farmhouse in the distance. I managed to get an old chap to come over to the fence and all I asked him was "what's the score?" (think I said "Hello" just before that)
The old bloke said nothing, just gave me a dirty look... then trudged back to his porch some 150m away. Felt really bad... like I'd wasted his time.

I was only 11 but have so many vivid memories of Italia 90. Linekar's goal against the Irish, Platt's against Belgium, and of course the semi final. Seemed a great tournament at the time but I think it is remembered as quite a cynical, attritional tournament in retrospect.

I wonder what Tino's view of Italia 90 is. I realise that he's more of an ardent rugby fan and very keen player, but his insight into football is also worthwhile.

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
Yes, it was a very defensive final not much of a spectacle at all but there were flashes of brilliance in other matches as you mentioned.
Jules, I recorded A Night at the Opera, Go West, The Big Store and At the Circus over the weekend.
How would you rank them... and in what order do you think I should watch them?

Watching order :-
At The Circus
Go West
A Night at the Opera
The Big Store
If you watch ANATO first, the others will be a disappointment. If you watch The Big Store first, you might decide not to bother with the others. At The Circus has some good scenes, some great lines and Margaret Dumont. Go West has a few good scenes and some good lines and no Margaret Dumont. The Big Store has a good line.
Have you seen Horse Feathers, Duck Soup etc?

I saw ANATO and Duck Soup a while back but I can't remember the detail and all the one liners. Seen bits of Horse Feathers and Go West (Harpo with apple on piano scene) too on youtube.
So Big Store last then. Is that the one with the mirror scene?

Can't say I ever listened to either of them consciously. It's all utter babble to me.
I just threw the name in there for a shocking contrast with some real entertainers.

Cheese salad sandwich Sean, on normal bread washed down with a bag of Wotsits. Some of us are still northerners.

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
Jacobs crackers with doritos nacho cheese dip and some chilli powder mixed in.
Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
I made myself a cheese and tomato sandwich. It was on bread marketed as Yorkshire Bread (white bloomer with poppy seed and the odd sunflower heart). Very good actually. The crunch of the poppy seed really complimented the soft textures of the cheese and tomatos.

You wouldn't pay more than 5p for it and still haggled over the price and wanted a free bag?seanmichaels wrote:I made myself a cheese and tomato sandwich. By the way...tomatos? Disappointing Seany!

Oh thank the Lord. I was wondering what meaning my life would have without having to find something that rhymes with "rick" everyday.

Most anecdotes about drinking in Keighley usually finish with the words "picking shards of broken glass from my face" I'm glad you're ok Rick. I'm indifferent to you Shah....only kidding, I'm indifferent to everyone
