Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Seeing today's's rumour that Chelsea want Llorente to partner Costa up top, crazy rumours of the winter and discussions of transfers can be found here

Bit torn on the Llorente thing, would be okay as back up but we already have Batshuayi who has hardly played (granted Costa deserves to be in the team) as back up anyway.

Re: Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Good question.. waste of money! Buy another striker when you only ever play one up top anyway and already have 5 strikers. Cant say the likes of Rhodes etc cant cut it as no one bar Negredo gets a proper run in the team.
Its likely its our £12 million pound man leaves on the cheap in January...up their with the best of the most puzzling signings ever tbh...feel for him as he has never had a fair shake at the club.
Could do with better wingers (ones who can cross and have composure) and another center midfielder with some creativity over another striker.

Feel like the Llorente rumours are just lazy journalism. Linking players to managers who have previously signed them is the go to rumour usually. Even though it doesn't actually happen all that often if the manager isn't Harry Redknapp.

Sunderland reject £6m bid for Defoe from West Ham
£6m or £100m+ for PL TV Deal which they won't get in the Championship.
Can't believe West Ham were that naive tbh.

Doubt West Ham expected to get him for that, just going to try and get Defoe to force through the move now. For a relegation threatened team Defoe is pretty much priceless, Sunderland wouldn't be able to get anybody better.

Can't believe you're so naive as to think that was West Ham's only strategy in the transfer!

Re: Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Jose Fonte has handed in a transfer request. Over the last couple of years it's always been his centre back partner that gets all the praise but he's surely got to take some of the credit.
Think he waited too long to do it personally, I can't see Manchester United being interested anymore, not really a Manchester City signing, too old for Liverpool, Arsenal got Mustafi, Chelsea aren't going to be interested as they have a lot of depth in centre back, Tottenham won't want him. Everton seems the only possibility, played under Koeman before and their defence isn't really settled, but would they sign Fonte another older defender after getting in Williams in the summer?
My best guess is that he's hoping for the Chinese money to come calling, but as he's not a very big name, plays in a less flashy position and isn't South American (which seems to be a big allure to the Chinese) I doubt that's a deal that happens.

West Ham's official website crowing about how we've bid for a championship striker (Hogan), a Premier League striker (Defoe) and £20m for a player in Scotland (Dembele, I believe).

The Rudy signing was a bit strange.
Sam Johnstone on loan for rest of season.
Gollini could well be loaned out.
Henri Lansbury heavily linked.
Wouldn't mind him, decent player.

Llorente to Chelsea story gaining some momentum now. Michy Batshuayi would then go out on loan.

Badstuber to City on loan, if fit a great CB and is a player that knows Pep (Pep once called him the best CB he's ever coached).

Waste of time as a signing he's bound to be injured half the time and it's hardly a glowing endorsement from a manager who knows naff all about defending.

Re: Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Chelsea have recalled Nathan Ake from his loan at Bournemouth. Doubt he'll crack the first choice XI anytime soon (unless it is over Cahill), but offers cover an CB, LWB (although Pedro might be about to get a run there) and CM (more like for like to the Kante/Matic axis than Cesc).
Would like to see the Oscar money reinvested in a big money signing, but might have to wait till the summer for that.

Where do Chelsea go big? Centre half again? Or behind the striker?

Re: Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Centre half depends on how much Conte rates Zouma and Christiansen as long term, top quality options. Someone to dovetail with Hazard behind the striker or a CM to play along side Kante (Veratti is the dream) would be my guess/hope.
Wing backs will be needed too, but can't see them spending real big money there.

Not sure that's a good deal at all. The main problem they have with Kompany is he's constantly injured and Badstuber is even worse. They'd be better off signing a slightly worse but more reliable centre back than bother with a deal like that. Big risk for very little reward.

Good deal for them. Based on his Southampton days he's an improvement on both McCarthy and Barry so he should make a good partner for Gueye.

Mamadou Sakho is interested in a move to Southampton who are interested. That'd be a good move for them, replacement for Fonte and Sakho is quality. I'd expect Liverpool will hold out for close to £20 million, especially from a Premier League side.

Ishak Belfodil to Everton for £10m.
Not much based on the current prices for players.
Not sure on signing him though based on his early days, although not really seen much of him since moving to Belgium.

Latest West Ham news appears to be:
Fee agreed on Hogan
Enquired about Batshauyi on loan
Glen Johnson in talks but wants big wages
Snodgrass a definite conversation happening between clubs
Defoe stuff isn't done
Interest also in Jenkinson, Fonte and Trippier (who I think is our ideal choice but won't leave Spurs). Iorfa and Sakho also on the list.
Payet definitely gone in summer and Feghouli probably this window. Antonio ain't going nowhere

Re: Ryan Babel in a chopper? It's the January Transfer Window thread
Bilic had said in his presser that Payet doesn't want to play for us, but he won't be sold. Announcing it basically means "pay us big."
The owners showed no ambition, the club went to a new stadium, the progress went backwards. Well done, Daves, go see who is on loan.

Supposedly Crystal Palace are trying to engineer a move which will have Benteke go to West Brom and Berahino come to Crystal Palace. That sounds like a dreadful deal.

Its seemed obvious all season that he isnt interested and he looks unfit! Not given the best impression to any potential suitors, unless he is waiting for the chinese money to come knocking!
