Mercer is some player!
Skills lacking a bit on both sides though. Seems very windy.
Could see some yellows for Welsh players if England keep that maul going this game. Just about impossible to defend.

Quote from Harry Randallthe English scrum half,
"I had a great time in Wales and especially at Llandovery where they helped me develop a lot. But I'm English so I don't feel like a traitor for moving back to England," said the scrum-half.

It's a very good england team, their number eight has been deputising for Faletau at Bath RFC. His skills and confidence show.
They put a cricket score on France last week.

Very good performance by England. Superb number eight in Zack Mercer.
If their discipline had been better this could have been a much larger score margin in their favour.

Re: 6N 2017: Wales v England, 11 February
Good start by Wales exploiting the wind with good kicking and some indecision by the England back 3. England improved and, even with some poor discipline, mostly looked in control.
Not sure if it was that good a performance by England though. They only really played in fits and starts and too many knock-ons. Still, they seem to know when to up the pace and take their opponents out of the game.
Mercer a very worthy MotM. Very, very promising talent.

What a joy. Left the room with Wales 13-3 ahead- courtesy of one of the worst clearance kicks in history from the England 15- England making lots of mistakes and the Welsh 4(?) always punching holes in the England defense. Come back 10 mins later and England 24-13 ahead

Fair play to the U20s hanging on in there. England looked good when they started scoring tries. Very good side. Mercer very good, but can he fit in that early with Vunipola and players like Underhill to fit into an English backrow?

Haskell often favours that colour too. Think he had one on when he bounced off the Welsh rugby post, in lieu of scoring a try two years ago. Jack Nowell rarely wears anything else. (Wonder if there are team orders on how many players can wear the same colour)JoseyWales wrote:maestegmafia wrote:glamorganalun wrote:Mercer deserved mot, he carried England the whole game, good victory against a good Wales team well done both teams.

I do agree with SCW in that Clifford & Nowell give an added balance to the side.
Whilst size isn't everything, the young England back row are significantly bigger than their Welsh counterparts which should help England to be on the front foot.
Also from an England point of view I hope Biggar starts & I again agree, Wales will be missing a trick by not starting with Sam Davies.

Looks like England fans are expecting a slaughter of Wales in Cardiff, as the last game we faced them at twickenham was.
I hope Wales can put up some sort of opposition, we have had some poor results every few matches.
England at twickenham, last test in Dunedin and the first of our autumn internationals.
By comparison Wales's consistency is polar opposite to England's form of fifteen games in a row.

Re: 6N 2017: Wales v England, 11 February
Only in my dreams would I consider us beating England comfortably today, therefore I'm just hoping for a close game. A win would be the cherry on the cake but the main thing for me is that we're competitive and really test a very good England side. Would be great if this goes down to the wire. Not so good for my health though I suppose

Don't know where you're getting that, maesteg. This is the most balanced build up to a Wales - England game I've ever seen on here, and most of the England fans are hopeful (current form, exciting team) but nervous (inexperienced back row, poor last game). The Welsh fans seem to be in the same position - probably closer to your full squad than England are, some exciting prospects but a mixed bag in terms of form (even your win over South Africa in the autumn was more about a dire SA performance than a strong Welsh one).
Of course, I imagine there are some boisterous idiots in Cardiff already who are basing their prediction on the long winning run rather than any examination of the facts, but every team has them, Wales as much as England.
