This is a fine effort, and everyone should be thanking me for setting the bar nice and low!
Also, not sure if anyone has seen the latest 606v2 Fantasy Football Table, but I just wanted to shamelessly point out that I am kicking ass.....

I feel like Radiohead right now. I played Karma Police at an open mic night a couple of weeks ago, and some guy came up and said he loved my song, and would I consider recording it. He hadn't heard of OK Computer. I basically wanted to kill him.jimbopip wrote:Hazel Sapling wrote:Trying to follow Ianbru is impossible. I almost smashed my laptop. Hope this is sufficient

You should have taken him up on his offer, wasted his time and allowed him to be sued by Radiohead when he tried to release it. He had it coming.

Whenever I sing in public people fail to recognise the song too. however, they never tell me quite as politely as that.

fair point!
does go to show that some of the laws in this country are a bit bizzare!
at 16 you can get married and or have a baby. However, you can't drive a car, have a smoke after the act of making love or have a wee dram to celebrate your own marriage! You can't even watch someone else making love on the silver screen!

I'll post here in our isolated ecosystem, sheltered by the bull excrement - any of you chaps been to Rome for a 6N game before? What's the deal with tickets - looking at booking flights/hotel ASAP if I can convince the Mrs to be its a good idea after paying for a wedding... Tickets best direct from the Union? I see Viagogo have some already at vastly inflated prices - slightly sceptical given they're not on sale to the public yet!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread 17 - Almost Legal
Highland, I went with my buddies (1 Welsh, 2 English) this year for the Italy v France match. Great entertainment, and the 5th ground to tick off on the 'getting to every six nations ground' item on my bucket list.
The area we stayed at was not particularly pretty, but was cheap (about £140 for four of us for 2 nights; b&b type but without the breakfast) and handy for the tram. There's a good tram system, and I'd reccommend getting the roving tram ticket, which I think was €12.50.
The ground is a football ground, and has a fine open walkway leading up to it. Great atmosphere, and we may well go again for 2018 6N. It was only about 2/3 full though.
We got tickets direct from Italy rfu (can't remember what they are called) but it was dead easy. Flights were cheap too. I think all in, it cost about £150 for flights, accommodation and match tickets (which may have been cheaper because we weren't 'direct' fans) but as my mate said, it meant we just needed to find £4000 for bear tokens!!
Sightseeing was good, if a little repetative, and we found a fabulous tapas bar that I would reccommend, and a good Scottish bar to watch the Calcutta cup game in after

Highland; next year will be our 4th trip to Rome for the 6 nations. I'd strongly recommend it. We're trying an Airbnb thing this time round, which seems very reasonably priced
In terms of tickets to the game the first year I got them direct from the Italian rugby site, but last couple have been from viagogo,if you wait till they have actually been released for sale the price on viagogo will reduce massively.

Incredible scenes at Twickenham - Scotland go 21-0 down to NZ in the QF and score in the last play to win 24-21! NZ even had 8 players on at one point!

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh: Ongoing Banter Thread 17 - Almost Legal
I wonder how many of the sevens players will come back to 15s next year and conversely, who will make up the sevens squad.
Dalziel tweeted a while back about an exciting squad and we know that Robertson and Wight are finishing now. Surely Horne will concentrate on 15s now and maybe Blake as well. Farndale has been touted as coming back, but the arrival of DTH mark II at Edinburgh may put that one to bed.
I suspect that some of the youngsters that have just been signed up, such as Galbraith, Millar, Smith and maybe even Graham may spend a bit of time on the sevens circuit next year. Hard to see who is going to take on the playing making roles that the legends Wight and Robertson perform though, they are going to be very hard to replace.

Huge credit to McCrae too - if he can install the same grit and will to win at Edinburgh we might actually win some more games!

I've already earmarked Chris Dean for that job. In fact, it's one of the more hotly contested positions at Edinburgh.
Massive congrats to the 7s guys. Epic effort.

Thanks Anglobraveheart! Really helpful, think we're going to go for it - just need to make sure work ok with taking the POETS day as March is the busiest time of the year... Looked at flights and heading down to stay with friends and fly out from London on the morning is just a bit too much faff - Stansted at 5am does not appeal (nor does the journey out there, or arriving at an airport near Rome at 10am for a 12.30 kick off)!
AirBnB looking worth a shot, it's something I've never used before - more of a Hilton fan myself... Certainly won't be £150, haha - flights alone are more than that even with a trip to Manchester.
We did Rome last year on holiday so done most of the "must do" sightseeing, have to find some other pickpockety spots to visit!

Actually football was my first love. In 1990 I probably couldn't have told you who won the 5 Nations, but I could have described in detail each and every goal scored by Mo Johnson and Ally McCoist that season. I also used to be a season ticket holder at Everton.
Rugby didn't really come into my life until the 1995 World Cup, which coincided with my starting to play rugby.
I now divide my time fairly evenly between football, rugby and cricket, with any time that's left over spent with my family....

I knew literally nothing about English football until I moved there in 1996 and some kind soul from a previous school year had plastered the inside of his (now my) desk with Panini football stickers. So to this day, I couldn't really tell you more than who's doing well (Tottenham and Chelsea?), but I could tell you that Stuart Pearce and Stan Collymore used to play for Nottingham Forest.

As it happens I don't have a membership at the Grange. To be clear I like Test cricket, not the pub stuff at the Grange (aka, the Scottish cricket team).
IanBru - I do know what you mean. My knowledge of Rangers and Everton in 1990 - 2005 far exceeds my knowledge of both sides over the last 10 years. For some odd reason you retain sport information as a schoolboy/teenager far better than I do now. I blame the law/my job, for cluttering my head with less important information. I recall the football World Cups in 1990, 1994 and 1998 like they were yesterday. I can barely remember the last one.

I can just about remember the 1994 WC, but the 1998 WC is the first time I remember being excited about a sporting tournament. McCoist and McCauley presenting their show from the Eiffel tower was a laugh.

This season I've won £300 in the EPL tipping comp I play with some ex-pat English lads in NZ (there's about 40 guys in it, I've won the overall prize 9 times in 13 years). All I do is look up the bookies' odds, and pick the favourites to win ...

This season I've won £300 in the EPL tipping comp I play with some ex-pat English lads in NZ (there's about 40 guys in it, I've won the overall prize 9 times in 13 years). All I do is look up the bookies' odds, and pick the favourites to win ...
yeah we used the sky sports platform for our league and in that it showed you how many points every player accumulated last season so I juist went for the boys who did well last year. Except I ran out of money and couldn't get Harry Kane. If I did pick him I'd have probably walked away with first place!

I used to wonder how you could cope with watching Edinburgh lose every week.funnyExiledScot wrote:Actually football was my first love. In 1990 I probably couldn't have told you who won the 5 Nations, but I could have described in detail each and every goal scored by Mo Johnson and Ally McCoist that season. I also used to be a season ticket holder at Everton.
Now I know. Practice.

Actually that was back in the glory days of the Moyesiah. Not many goals, but not many defeats either. It was more akin to watching Glasgow under Lineen.

Sam H-C and Ritchie Gray out of the summer tour.
Sean Kennedy has been called up in place of SHC.
No replacement yet for Gray. If fit, Grant Gilchrist or Scott Cummings are the obvious choices.
Wild dark horses for 2nd row?
Anton Bresler (if he's fit and still in the country because he's now SQ)
Ollie Atkins from Exeter. (Scot 'A cap)
Even darker and wilder horses coming out of retirement for a summer holiday?
Big Jim Hamilton
Kelly Brown (been playing a lot at lock for Sarries)
TBH, I can see Toonie calling up a back row (du Preez?) and use Rob Harley in the 2nd row, adding to J Gray, Swinson and Toolis.

Bresler signed summer 2014 so he won't be SQ for the tour.
It is strange they didn't call someone up though!
