First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini

While it's good to win, remember that the most important thing is development and there are promising signs here.

What will be annoying though is we'll be in a tough group again most likely next year.

Well done O'Halloran. I'm impressed with him, he's a good big fullback, upright running stance, fabulous hair, kinda reminds me of a younger me. 'cept i was a full forward...

Yes, happy to see some very good individuals coming through. Annett and Jackson are better players than they've shown, but neither is ready for first team action. I think McKinney will get more gametime than Jackson this year and if Humphreys is injured I would rather see Wallace or Pienaar at 10.

I'm sorry but that just isn't good enough. That game was there for the taking and there were far too many missed tackles a poor control at half back.

The back play was superb but we're far too reliant on individual brilliance. Conway was electric as was O'Halloran.

I don't think that all the SA players have been selected on merit being forced to select a certain percentage of players will probably weaken SA rugby for a few years.

Tadgh Furlong has been a real find. He can play next year as well.

South Africa can still bring Jaco Taute into the side after he finished commitments with the Lions in Super Rugby where he has played very well.

There were only 2 or 3 in that young side. Which I think is unusual, considering the sporting-stance taken a few years back. Some things have not changed for the better.

Maybe a few token honkeys in a few years. Would serve em roysh... the basterds. The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub - Page 15 346548009

If Ireland can coach your young 'uns to tackle then there is talent there. SA blasted through your guys too easily for me. They got it up big time for the England game (seniors too in the 6N), and imo that is what Ireland need to have in any competition. Intensity in
EVERY game. Not jusr the games that are going to earn Brownie points with the fans

An honest opinion.

very much so. He has another year at this also doesnt he? Im not sure he will be a 12. I think someone mentioned he is a 10 also so i wonder may he move in due to his size but he has a lovely pass. He was let down by Conneely for the try in the first half.

To be fair I don't think Ireland were more up for the England game than this one. Plus the England game was the first game so I don't think the opposition played a big part if they were more fired up for that.

Cymro,

So do you know of better white players back in South Africa? If you do, I'd like to hear about them. It's quite something you know so much about U20 rugby in the Republic seeing as you live in north Wales.

It's all true. Our (lack of) defence has cost us big time. And we ALWAYS lift it for England, and thats no longer enough when we want to be a top rugby nation. We have to bring it every time.

But I have to agree with Munsty, I think tiredness was more a factor than motivation.

Yes you are perfectly correct that I was born in North Wales and I do have a property there but due to my work I spend most of my time at my property in Caterham Surrey.

In answer to your question it is my belief after talking with several South African fans that this is not the best possible side they could have selected.
If by any chance you think my opinion is based on racism then you are quite welcome to visit my home and then it will become very clear to you that is definitely not the case.

Nah Hound get with the programme. We (Ireland) as the NH superpower have decreed that we will all play Super 15 style in future - tackling optional. This is evident with our U20 team Smile

I'm praying that anyway.
