Is it the BBC news filming you on strike?
Alas not, an ITV Thriller called "Malpractice" apparently.

Sorry to hear that LiW. Hope it works out of you.
Couple of options for you.
You can come and be an apprentice seamstress for me and Mrs Windows. Pay is sh*t but at least you get to work with me.....
Alternatively, can ask Shah to use one of his IED's to blow the b*llocks off your former employers.

Recently buried an uncle who's name was Leach, true story, much like the Lee Hendrie one.
Might do a quiz on how much of a c**t Lee Hendrie is.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Just to add a little late Friday Michaelising. Part of me feels very relieved about the company that just gave me the boot, which is a good sign that I really wasn't happy there, which is why I wasn't giving them what they wanted from me.
On the plus side I have already started talking to a possible client (some people I know well) about some freelancing work, which would be very useful because its going to take a while for an old git like me to find a real job again.

Yes, forget about them and move on. Happiness at work is more important and better opportunities lie ahead for you, I'm sure.
I had a similar experience back in 1999. I was getting married and had approached one of the partners to request a fortnight off for the honeymoon in Lombok. He said it was all fine... no problem, just fill out the form and wished us a happy marriage. Well that bit didn't work out... but that's another story.
Then, on the Friday before I was due to depart for the day (and the honeymoon) - at about 4:55pm - the other partner (a slimy heartless character) came smirking up to my desk. I could sense something wasn't right with his body language.
I thought he was going to wish us well too. He did; but then added. "When are you returning?" I told him 2 weeks on Monday. To which he replied: "Is it ok if you extend it a little longer?" ??? "... like how about forever." I felt like smashing his stupid face into a bloody pulp but kept cool instead.
I was shocked (for about half an hour) but more excited about the break. From the company and taking the time off. The other partner then came up just before I left (about 5 minutes later) and apologised for his partner's "handling of the situation". All the people I worked with were also shocked. Still remember the look on their faces. They must have been thinking - what a d1ckhead the other partner was... and they could well be next.
As it turned out, I went on to bigger and better things. Landed a great job when I got back from Lombok working on the RAS (Royal Agricultural Society) Showground relocation and the Sydney Olympic Village.

Very inspiring. Last time I was laid off I took a month to myself to work on my drinking. When I started looking for a job I was pressed for money and nothing was forthcoming. Ended up pretty much being forced to take a not very good position in a company an ex-colleague worked for, that was just over 20 years ago and I'm still there today.

I just can't do the drinking thing and have one (hopefully not 2) 'technically' disabled sons which means the concerns are different, but it is important to get one's head straight in the circumstances, however you do it. I did take voluntary redundancy from a university a few year's back, and it took almost a year to get my next job, but then the redundancy payment was about a year's salary.
Don't know what happens next. Part of me feels that freelancing might be a good thing and an area where the age and experience will help, where it may well restrict opportunities when applying for permanent jobs. Plus there is potentially more control over time. It's just that thing about finding clients.

So yes, you'd have to do both.

My payout was only about a couple of weeks' worth if I remember correctly, was boosted a bit by leave I'd not yet taken. I didn't have a kid at the time, so drinking was the sensible option. Things are a bit different now, come September, when he starts school, I intend to shock myself by finding else. Agree about getting your head straight, sounds like it's obvious but it's easy to feel overwhelmed or despondent.

Can someone please do the brown bin tomorrow as I'm away for a couple of days?
Is whoever does the brown bin expected to take the green and grey bins in again?
I don't think that's very fair.
Normally I'd bring the green and grey bins in tonight and put the brown bin out but I Mexican't tonight.
So yes, you'd have to do both.
Life isn't fair, Galted.
Then I'm going to put a Lucozade bottle into the bin to ruin the batch.
Easier to find Irn-Bru up there. They consider Lucozade too healthy.
